i have something kind of the same on my wildtrak but mine is an easy up and an easy down by grunt4x4, the left hand side assists when lifting and the right hand assists in down. what i have noticed a lot of the other kits on the market dont include little pieces of rubber strip you fit to the sides of the gate so that the wire cords stay in place and dont end up getting jammed inside the tailgate every time you close it.
Hi have question. I have a drop down loft hatch at home. I need longer struts. I see them on ebay will they work. Reason i ask is because i see cabinet struts for kitchen but they open upwards and support/hold door. Do all struts work the same as yours? Can you recommend where to find?
i have the same issue, with the lest hand side bolt not coming out. Have tried a number of things including yours, but nothing will move it. Any ideas? The right hand side went on fine.
You prob (I hope) finished it weeks ago, but I would suggest to others loosening that side first, while someone sits on the lowered tailgate, use an extension bar on your socket wrench & apply gradual torque. As some famous engineer once said "Give me a long enough lever & I will move the earth" so careful you don't flip your truck over lol
I love WD for most things, but the bolt is put in at the assembly stage and then the vehicle is sprayed so the bolt is covered and no WD or anything else can get in. That what makes getting it off so difficult I think/
Thank you for your good video and for all Your determination it is admired only it has also changed my mind not going through all that as do not have compressor and air tools :( . This should have been done in the factory even as part of the trim .package with maybe including a two strut hood instead of the stupid hood prop rod . It is s very nice upgrade when it is all completed .
@@CloughReviews No that is okay I do appreciate you doing this video and this way I am not stuck with not being able to finish the job. Yes you are so correct it should not have been such a difficult job to do
Terrible bit of engineering! I bought some rounded bolt removers but didn't need to use them in the end. Watch the video and see what I did with an angle grinder. If you don't want to do the same, take it to a garage and they can loosen it for you for a few dollars in their back pocket
On the Morza site 3 reviews said that they were crap. As you fitted them in 2019, have you had any problems with them. not working, rusty etc. By the way very good video. Thomas
Hi Thomas, no, they are working great. Had a single one from another manufacturer first for a year and replaced it with these two for strength and support
My bolts were not painted over so came out easily. Maybe cut or grind away the paint would help (but it must be done before the bolt gets rounded). Worth a try before calling in the cavalry.
There is a brand called Grunt who have tail gate dampers which are a far better fit than the type you used I looked into both types and paying 20% more was a far better option.
@@theanton9633 I paid about $80 Australian for is single grunt damper where as the cheap ones you used were around $120 ish a pair. These were from ebay

Love this guy's determination lol, gave me a good laugh attempting to remove that left side bolt.
Thank you 👍 from Philippines 🇵🇭
@@daddyyonztv8970 it's a game changer 👍🏻
Really appreciate the vid, I have that kit but it didn't have instructions and I wondered what those springs were for, thanks
Thanks for that 👍😁
Hi Mr Clough Thank you for your prompt reply. Brilliant vids. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks from Argentina! Is perfect My friend
Thank you for that 😁👍

You do get a spring clip with these though for that.
Really helpful, THANKS! Only problem is mines come with 2 left hand side fitting kits! Damn it!!
Now that is frustrating!!!!
Thank you for this. I hope the same exact model works with wildtrak 2021
I'm sure it will 👍
Ordered , thank you

Other than what I did, I have no idea. Maybe, take it to a garage and let them finish the install for you. I almost got to that point.

Can you advise again on what type of struts you bought and where you bought them from please?
geni.us/BeEubM these I used are called Morza and sold in a pair
Blue locktight. Not grease
Agreed but it was to stop rust more than lock the thread. Thanks though 👍
thankyou so much for this tutorial
clear simple thanks lad
Do you find that in the winter time/cold climate that the struts are slower coming down or really hard to close? tnx
Nope, not noticed anything. Hard to close all year round with the weight of the tailgate 😁
14:20 would spraying wd40 pre opening the torx bolt help screw it out better?

Отлично👍. Сделал тоже самое на пикапе Тойота Hilux. 👍
Brilliant vid. I just received my struts and there were no instructions.
Thanks for that, the struts make a world of difference for not much outlay 👍

Thank you for that. It's a shame if I have put you off, but I completely understand, it really shouldn't have been so difficult 😁👍🏻

Why did you use grease!!!! Should have used Loctite unless you want the bolt to always work loose.....
My t50 bolt won't move and has now rounded 😂 any advise how to get it out

Great video as always. Might replace the single strut i installed as well. Any chance you'll be changing your fog lights?
I appreciate that 😁👍. I really do need to change the fogs, probably after summer though. They look pretty easy though (hopefully)
I bought my set of struts for BT50 from GRUNT. 4x4
Thanks bud 👍
It's a winner 👍😁

Dave where you find em for only 20% more iv found these cheap ones on ebay under £20 grunt want £189 for the up and down ones seems abit steep
