The price of established dual cab Ute's is rediculas. I have never seen the use of them as I'm not a Tradie or Bogan. If I were to buy one, it would be a GWM Cannon around $40,000 on road.😊
@therightcar Sorry, wasn't very clear. Mazda lent a BT-50 to a couple travelling Australia. They are now in Tassie in a Mazda 3. BT-50 is very capable.
Get a navara STX. Engine noise is more refined and comfortable suspension for daily use. Really easy to get a new model discounted compared to the competitors because they get an undeserved bad reputation.
Its my belief Mazda are not doing enough to retain market. Just as they did on the ranger based BT50, ford kept development occurring, mazda just sat on their lorals, with same vehicle as originally released. They're doing similar with the Isuzu based vehicle. Isuzu have done updates, mazda still to develop or incorporate substantial Isuzu upgrades As per previous, sales went to ford instead and now sales will go to Isuzu unless they continue development. I don't believe for one moment Mazda Japan really cares about competing seriously in our market, we have this on offer, take it or leave it, ludicrous. GWM products looking really good in comparison, bang for buck with far better inclusions.
I understand your comments mate. Isuzu has done some work on D-Max, and yet in other markets there has been news of BT-50 being axed. However… stay tuned. There may be some updates coming soon!!
Hey Matt, great review. I’m quite interested in a Bt-50 GT. For under $60,0000 at the moment driveway it makes for a compelling option, and for me it looks like the sweet spot in the range.
This channel reviews new cars. It's about whether you should buy them, not what they're like to own -- though I do cover off the ownership considerations for actual customers. There are used vehicle channels - like the one run by my mates, ReDriven, which could be useful for further due diligence. But honestly. I'd roll the dice on a Ranger, still.

Ford Ranger, the best ute you can buy? Absolute horseshit! Ranger is plagued with reliability issues. I would rather buy a T60 before a Ranger. Dmax and BT50 for power or A Hilux for resale and reliability.
Finally some good looking wheels on a ute.
Under rated here in NZ as well.
Yep!
Sad they stop selling these in Nz
Comes without engine reliability issues, unlike Ranger.

I tend to agree. I couldn’t justify $70k on a ute. No way.
I just got quoted the double cab 4x4 with a tray for $50,800.00 thought that wasn't to bad
Have they fixed the bump steer issue in the bt50 I love mine but hate the tyre wear
No, the bumpsteer problem still effects these, Dmax and Mux. Have to factor in a couple grand to fix it.
I do get a windscreen noise from 75 km onwards heavier the conditions louder it is.
I am a Mazda fan …. find the BT50 just old compared to the Ranger, new Triton etc. not sure that I would spend my own money on one
One Pack Wonderers. Nice
Hahahaa mean

It probably has a small impact on aerodynamic turbulence - but nah mate they just look totally cool 😜

I like the Navara. I like your take!
Ranger isn’t reliable, I do have much more trust in Mitsubishi though with the Triton. Good review 😊
Ranger is reliable.

I have a 23 Hilux dual cab workmate petrol auto povo pack. I live on acreage does the job fine .
It makes sense on acreage. Hardcore 4x4. Not as pleasant to drive on the road as other utes.
Isuzu engine with Aisin transmission you can’t beat this for reliability XTR way better value for money
XTR is a good spec!

Hey Richard. Yep, that’s a good buy.
Time reviews started coving reliability and general manufacturing faults. If these are considered, the ranger is not in the same class.

Ranger, Hilux and Triton are the most popular here in NZ, and Ranger by fair margin.
Yeah, Ranger has the lead here too in Aussie, and HiLux is very close (lead the market for almost a decade until 2023)

Best way to burn your money I would say 😂
I have had 4 BT-50's and the current one will be my last. It is crap, the previous models based on the ranger were a much better ute.
What’s next then mate? Amarok?
No AWD all surfaces like Ranger and Triton. Outdated Isuzu mechanicals. So no!
Outdated? Also known as inherently reliable?
yeah nah, the new gen Triton has surpassed both D-Max and BT50.
I agree.
Apart from towing….
