Great stuff. Do you have any videos or resources that can help me with my disc herniation (L4 L5 S1)? I really miss deadlifts and squats. The numbness and pain has reduced now. Please suggest workouts that don’t cause spinal flexion.
Morning: dynamic flexibility Post workout: loaded flexibility like splits, pike, weighted mobility as in jefferson curls Before bed: static flexibility as in yoga
There is nothing better than that loose feeling you get after a good mobility/flexibility session. I do mobility/flexibility work throughout the day. It serves well as a study break, for example.
It's very appealing and realistic to me that your fitness and stretching routines and videos emphasize that not all members are young and athletic as you but doing some variation of your training is always a benefit and no one is judging us! Thanks Tom
Brilliant again, thank you 👍 Still quite stiff but have found late afternoon to be a good balance of having warmed up through daily chores but not loaded down yet with the evening routines. I'm gradually adding more stretches throughout the day as I progress and theis kind of stuff only helps 😊
I definitely want to try the morning routine. I usually workout in the afternoon/evening because I overcome the morning stiffness by just day to day stuff.
You're officially my favorite coach on RUclips now...(my next is Tapp Brothers) but im confident that your terrific training will help me to get there. Thanks for the introduction to Ido as well I can see what a good and dynamic student you are bc that's the kind of teacher that I find you to be. Thanks ever so much!! Please tell your parents that I think they have good reason to be very proud of your dedicated and hard work, plus your sharing it with others. Thanks again
Best times of day for me to stretch are when I'm stoned or tripping. The latter substance allows me to open up bound areas in my spinal canal and leads to permanent changes in my mobility. it's just... super freaking intense.
Hello Tom! Been seeing your videos for quite some time now, and I have found your 15 minute beginner flexibility routine really helpful! My question is: When during the day is the best to use this? I personally like to stretch before bedtime, and so - do you recommend another routine for this?
Hey Tom just one question that isn't that thing that doing loaded mobility after workout can hinder recovery. As a guy in blue shorts 😅😅😅😆think its worst. What do you think about this
Is one strech position for the muscle enough? How long to hold it and how many sets and the frequency? Please respond cuz I don't anything about flexibility programming!
I think Tom would do a variety of stretches. The links to Tom's other videos give quite adequate information. People vary in their flexibility, so you have to personalize according to your body.
Hello Tom 👋 i have a question.. can i perform static stretch (with weight) before my workout? i know it can reduce performance but i just feel so much better after it and i have more range of motion. Please answer ❤️
Hello, I love you channel but after a few months with lower back pain I've been diagnose with a L5 protrusion that is not touching the nerve but it is painfull from time to time. Which kind of streches do you recommend to do and avoid? Thank you
I was wondering if you had any advice for people who have different flexibility levels on different sides of their body, for example due to an injury? Specifically for symmetrical movements, where the maximum on one side doesn’t fully engage the other side.
I would say you just spend more time stretching the side that's less flexible, though, if that isn't correct, I would also like to know the answer to this question
1:44 IS THAT AIR BENDING? HAHAHAHAHA NAH JUST KIDDING. this vid actually helped me a lot, cuz people be tellin that you shouldn't stretch before bed cuz it might be hard for you to sleep. BUT THEY AINT RIGHTTTT
This is exactly what i was looking for. Types of strerch and when and how ling and dir what muscle group. I have been looking for that video for a ling time. 💝
Find a schedule that works for you. What are you, a potato that stretches? Get that heart rate up regularly and work on improving yourself. One of the most natural things one MUST do.
Marin Bošnjak yeah cuz the real reason is good Whole Foods, no sugar, genetically good skin. He might a have a skincare routine, but really he’s just super healthy and has good genetics
Amazing information ! Wich stretch do you recommend for the hamstring before bed? Or is it just better not to stretch them beacuse of the spinal flexion involved?
Sthenosophy more isn’t better and often slows gains but the way I’ve laid out these, with the type of stretching when, you could get away will all of them.
Isn't there a huge danger for injuries if I stretch after my workout? Because my muscles are already stressed a lot or should I do low level stretching? Thanks a lot and keep going! Cheers
i think again there can NOT be such recipe for everyone. depends on the individual's circadian rhythm... please read some book like Body Rhythm.. there is never sg that fits all...
M M i have but hormonal rhythms don’t change, just the timing of them will (ie later or earlier). This means that CNS response will be similar for everyone (with a couple hour variance) and therefore I think this guideline would be effective for most. But it’s a valid point
@@BodyweightWarrior i think you should read again this subject. hormonal and circadian rhythms are interconnected... it's like suggesting a diet to people... every human body is made up of the same organs and same systems, yet...
будь моим соседом тихий спокойный будить меня будешь в парк настраивать на раслабление всего тела хотя мне иногда хочеться бодипозитив ....так мне запах сигарет надоел
As so many people have requested it a full bedtime stretching routine will be posted soon. I will update this comment when it goes live :)
Tom Merrick very useful vid. Thank you for the great tips! Will add that to my workout.
Thanks Tom. Could you please add something to help for my plantar fasciitis? Thanks

did you ever make a full bedtime stretching routine? I didn't see it in the mobility playlist. Thanks so much for all your vids!!
1. Early Mornings 1:05
2. Post Workout 2:15
3. Pre Bed time 3:25
Morning: dynamic flexibility
Post workout: loaded flexibility like splits, pike, weighted mobility as in jefferson curls
Before bed: static flexibility as in yoga

You accomplished that I am now doing a daily stretching routine, although I wasn't a big fan of mobility training. Thank you :)
U DESERVE more RECOGNITION!!

Hey Tom could you do a video on joint articulations? Thanks! :D
Watched this just over a year ago, did nothing.
Today I start implementing.

Big Panda you ruined the joke
Whoa! Now I can't unsee it.
Tom, any way you could do a video on how you got into bodyweight and flexibility training? What was your mobility like before you started?
Mr. Popo couldn’t touch my toes haha. The starting Calisthenics series combined with my Bodyweight Warrior eBook is a good start :)
I definitely want to try the morning routine. I usually workout in the afternoon/evening because I overcome the morning stiffness by just day to day stuff.
hey (: can you please upload a pre bedtime follow along routine ?
ruclips.net/video/mjf7Fkmuxhc/видео.html
There is this one, but maybe a 5 minutes follow along like the ones for the morning would be nice
I’ve been using RUclips for 10 years and you are the first person I’ve subscribed to.
Love your work!
Tom I love your channel. My question is, what is the advantage to stretch before workout vs after workout. All the best and keep posting

Great video. Do you have stretches for people with back issues?
Thaaaank you Tom 🙆🏻♀️💜
Good video. Keep giving us good info.
When is the BEST time to watch a Tom Merrick video? Whenever one appears. haha Love your stuff.

What time of day would you do your beginner stretch routines? Evening?

what type of warm up-mobility is good pre full body hiit workout?
Great video and some sound advice, having taken five minutes out to stretch this morning, I feel so much better with general everyday movement.....
Lol you got this idea from me, haha i did this question on your Facebook group, lol good video Tom
must've been. I've been meaning to do it but couldn't remember what sparked it :)
What country/state do you live in? Weather always seems good.
Basic premise: stretch when you can! Thanks for the tips and examples dude :-)

Would you do a pre bed time follow along please? ;)

I know I’m watching this 2 years later but when should I do hard stretches if I workout first thing in the morning?

Anyone know why a static spine flexing stretch more than 60s is a bad thing?
When would you normally do ballistics work e.g head to toe?
I know this is two years old but what should I do if I train first thing in the morning?
I stretch both
Everybody thinking the best time is in the mornings..
No.
Does this apply if you lift weights

What about doing all 3? Is that too much ?
Because I work out 2x a day sometimes with bjj and lifting

Cickak this guy eats fish, meats, eggs, drinks raw milk and eats some plants. I can bet my house his skin isnt clear because of plants.

How tall are you?

Why not both (all of three, actually)?! 😀
Sthenosophy more isn’t better and often slows gains but the way I’ve laid out these, with the type of stretching when, you could get away will all of them.
Yeah, I was just joking.
Time is of the essence. Not everyone can stretch 3x a day. Once is good...
👍👍👍
Pre bed routine please 🧘♂️
😊👌💙
I stretch two times a day when I'm gaining flexibility. So both, I say.
Isn't there a huge danger for injuries if I stretch after my workout? Because my muscles are already stressed a lot or should I do low level stretching?
Thanks a lot and keep going!

If you're super fatigued then maybe but if not then it's my preferred method :)
Gotta start morning mobility again. I'll follow your 5 min one!
