This is the funniest video I have ever seen on Backgammon. It must be a joke, that works really well!! Haha. He didn't just knock you onto the bar mate, he totally blew you away!!! I almost died laughing when he threw the double 6's, "The dice, lady's and gentlemen, are not my friend!". Hahahahaha! You're an eternal optimist! Haha! Well done. Give us more!

0:56 Where did you get this rule of thumb? Its often exactly the opposite. For example, if your opponent gets an advanced anchor, it behooves you to do the same. Ok, sometimes you're right, but it's not really a useful generalization. 2:00 The fact that he hit you instead of moving the back pieces does not mean you should continue with a running game. It means the opposite. Getting hit means you are further behind in the pip count, so running into a losing race does not make sense. And the fact that the opponent's back checkers haven't moved means that you would do well to concentrate on priming them instead of running. 2:30 Again, this isn't a running game; it's a priming/holding game. 5:05 Actually you win this position only 31% of the time. The problem with playing a backgame here is that you have your 2 point made, which is too deep to contain hit checkers - it would be more conducive to a blitzing game. 5:58 11 was a great roll, but you're still a slight underdog. 7:35 Saving a 6 is the wrong idea. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you rolled a 6 next and had to break one of your anchors - it's too optimistic to try to hold on to everything. After your move, breaking the 6 point, how will you ever win once you do get your opponent on the bar? 7:54 They are points, not "primes." A prime is several points in a row. 10:38 Unless you know for a fact that you played every move perfectly, you can't say you lost purely on the luck of the dice. You did play slightly better than your opponent, but both at Beginner level.
Im sorry mate, i appreciate the effprt of the tutorial, but you cant say that the other player was lucky when you gave him the game trying to pull a strategy that you dont undertand
You shouldn't adopt any strategy except to hold two stones, in starting position, or not. Flexibility is the key. 9 times out of 10, fortune favors the bold.
Wow....I'm going to win this game. The opponent played perfectly grabbing the 5-point and bar point. He got himself into a HUGE pickle. LOL. Inner board points and blocks ftw
I got the gist of your message bro, despite the armchair warrior class tasteful messages below.. I know more about the game now then before.. I was playing the strategies but I didn't know what they're called.. you just have to go with feel, because like you say, the dice the dice the dice
3:12 You should have double hit with the 64. I like some the explanations for why you chose a running game early on like him not moving his back checkers. But it seems to me if you've made an ancor on the two point against a four prime and are down in the count then you're not really playing a running game anymore.
@@Jez2008UK and who the f says "knock them in the bar"? And his "four prime in the bar" which is just the first four points. I'm glad this video was suggested to me again. Hilarious. I was much too nice before. This guy is completely clueless on all levels. "I am losing is the pip count so that means I should try to run with my back checkers, watch as I completey blunder this 4-2". Lol.
You initially got lucky with the double 1 early on so that you had a 3 prime in his home - the dice do what the dice do, but he played a better overall game and played the percentages better than you did. Sure the double 6 at the end was good for him, but you'd had your share of fortune hitting him earlier in the game
Thanks for your effort. However, I dont agree that you lost this game on the dice. I feel you lost it because you made poor decisions based on a strategy that you dont seem to understand. Maybe teaching others should come later.
hahahhaaaa, what a joke. no clue about backgammon but audacious enough to make a tutorial on it. really cracked me up... clearly, people don't know what they don't know...
I think you made your mistake right here 1:30 when you came in on the 5 instead of the 1. You set the table for his to continually harass you in his bar. I think I would have felt like from the 13 to the 8 would have made more sense. You can't really characterize the game into one of your categories so quickly, nor decide counter-strategies based on that so early.

This video should be called how not to play a backgame strategy. For any person who whatches this. You dont play a backgame strategy if you dont have enough rocks to build at home and you certainly dont open your six, thats always one of the last things you want to do. What point is there in waiting to catch the other guy if hes gonna come straight out to an open field, and even if you have more rocks waiting the same situation is gonna repeat.if you want to play a backgame you either close it all or all but the one. Trust me its usually always better to risk than to break your beggining pile at the six
Every move u made is amateur move...u were waiting to have your luck..your game plan is made from those who doesnt know how to be expert..beeing amateur and posting videos and loosing my time and others time pfff
A for effort but you clearly don’t even understand how the checkers move at 2:50 you had a 6 and 2 how did you move out your checker into your home quadrant?
You are hopeless in understanding how Backgammon is played. You might want to read a book or two, starting with some of the old time masters like Bill Robertie or Paul Magriel

I know you mean well but this is a terrible way to teach the game imo. Its to fast and hard to understand the thinking behind some of the moves. It would be better to have a real board game and show your moves and the thinking behind them at a slower pace. I couldn't finish watching video as it wasn't helping me but thanx for trying.
Dude, it took you 12 minutes to rattle off a list of 5 strategies, why did you put us through that painful gameplay when you could have explained them in 2 minutes? That really did hurt to watch. Lol
You are a bad player. You have to assess correctly whether it is better to concede 1 point or risk losing a mars. Btw, you never had a better position.
show me again on how you was going to win.... playing one type of strategy thru the whole game is fruitless.... I do wonder what the other player was thinking #noob
Such a great lesson in losing gracefully!

Building a wall is always the best strategy. What you did is not much of a winning strategy but a way to try to salvage what is already a losing game.
No strategy is "always" the best strategy. You have to do what the dice and/or opponent allow.
Exactly.
Mark Jackson Gotta agree here, not playing a computer, playing people.
@qvistus82 idk why you thought that was a good idea, AI for backgammon was solved in the 90s

Thanks for sharing this maybe I can get a win on my next game
The second I saw him play 6&4 the way he did, I knew that this guy ain’t it
Thought the exact same
True that...!
That's the right play lol. You talking about his first move? The only good play he did all game pretty much
That's not a bad move. It's almost equal to the 24/18, 13/9 or 9/2, 6/2. Against a stronger opponent it's probably the best.
Amazing game. You did well until the end.
lolita: teach somthing you know, if ther is somthing!

6:28 3 primes or a 3-prime?

C L absolutely. The poor choice of play with that 6 & 4 was the critical error.

Your critical error was when you didn’t double hit with your 6 & 4. From then you were destined to lose.
Those dice 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
I think it's cool that you posted this game even though you lost. That speaks volumes about your character.
That was a fun game to watch though. Could have been a little more competitive.
