    For the exception of beginners, I believe that the luck of the dice, plays a very big part in determining a match, against ANY player, once you've learned how to move around the board, with a full understanding of how the game the game is played. Having said that, the more doubles that a player rolls, the more likely they are, of winning. No matter who they face. Therefore, Anyone can bite the dust depending on the roll of the dice.

    • @bennemann
      @bennemann Год назад +8

      That is true. Magriel mentions in his seminal book from 1973 that part of the fascination of backgammon is how a beginner can beat a world-class expert if their difference in luck is great enough. The expert's higher skill can minimize the chance of this happening and stack the odds in his favor, but that's all it is: stacking the odds. It's not guaranteeing the odds. This is why matches of backgammon last several rounds: the more rounds, the less influence luck has, and the more the skill difference can shine through.

    I am new to this game and wanted to know why they beared off their checkers the way they wanted at the end of the round? I've read that there are very strict rules of how player must bear off checkers. For example: if my dice were 2 and 3; and I have a checker at 3, then I must bear off that checker. And if I haven't got any checkers on 2nd triangle, then I must move the checker that is closest to the 2nd triangle, but further away from the border of the game board.
    Did I misunderstood the rules? Can you please explain? :)

    • @tgwnn
      @tgwnn Год назад

      No you don't need to bear off a checker from the 3 point. If you can move another checker with a 3, you can do it. Or sometimes you can move the checker off the 3 with a smaller roll and bear off something else. The only strict rule is that if there is a move that uses both dice, you must make it.

      0:17 The girl plays wrong 4/3, you don't play on 24/21. you play on 24/20 and on 13/10.
      0:42 The doubles that the Vietcong plays are: the first two correctly but then he has to play one of his checkers from 24/20.
      1:10 the 6/6 that the warrior plays are wrong. He has to take two of his checkers from 13/7 and from 11/5 so that it makes five doors and game over.
      10:00 he thinks for a minute how he will play 6/4. Fortunately after a minute, a miracle happened and he played it right
      11:35 Two minutes he thought how will play 5/3. Luckily after 2 fucking minutes he played well again. How long does it takes to think about this simple movement? .Competitors.Are you listen to me??
      Change the fucken rules.Our nerves are broken
      13:25 wrong playing by the girl. not from 12 /4 one checker. You have to play from 12/8 one checker and from 4/1 the other. why? Because if girls dice has 5 or 6 in the next throw she will not be forced to take the checker that threatens the opponent in his area, which he did, of course.hahahah.
      Because brinking the vietkogk 3/1,4/1,5/1,6/1,his checker will be exposed.

It's no frills but simple and straightforward. The dice rolls feel pretty random. You can give yourself a name, and you'll see some of the same people show up regularly. It's also really easy to set up a match. Most of the people you'll face play quickly enough that you can finish a game in 8-10 minutes. Many of the players there are good, and I've gotten to see, and try out, different styles of play.

      I think he's thinking about the best way how to bear in without leaving a shot. The 3 Point inner Board of her is not that strong but the 3 checkers on Mochys 3 Point make it difficult to bear in. This is crucial because if you get hit and you fan she can easily play out her Checkers with 4s,5s and 6s from the 3 Point without crunching her inner Board. That's why Mochy carefully thinks about the best way to bear in minimalizing her chances to hit and force her to crunch her inner Board that's why you not only think about not getting hit but also about keeping the 4-Prime long enough that she crunches so that you can easily enter if you get hit. So for example you could play 17/11 6/2 or 17/11 5/1. I analyzed the position in extreme gammon and these alternatives are close but Mochy as usually comes up with the best play 17/7.

      Not that I am an expert… But I seriously doubt that Mochy is remotely concerned about being hit. Even if he is hit, he would almost certainly come out immediately, as her homeboard is all but crunched already.
      My first inclination is that the reason he’s taking so long is to consider if she rolls less than a seven, and leaves her self open to being re-hit, thereby increasing Mochy‘s chances of a gammon

      How to Use the Doubling Cube
      Each backgammon game starts with a value of one point. The doubling cube is placed in the middle of the bar and is not controlled by either player.
      When a player feels he has the advantage in a game, that player can choose to offer a double before rolling the dice-effectively doubling the value of the game.
      The opposing player can turn down the offer but concedes the game by doing so and pays one point.
      If the opposing player accepts the offer, the value of the game doubles-from 1 to 2, from 2 to 4, or from 4 to 8, for example.
      When a player accepts a double, he takes control of the doubling cube and is the only player who can make the next offer of a double. Knowing when to accept a double and when to decline is a sign of a skilled backgammon player. www.thesprucecrafts.com/how-to-use-a-backgammon-doubling-cube-409278

      She’s on the bar, so she has to roll in with a 2 or a 3. That means that 22, 36, and 23 are hitting rolls for her. Even if she does hit, she will still likely have to split the checker from the 18 which leaves additional shots for Mochy coming in from the bar. Any 3, 12, 52, 43, 16 all come in and hit her blots on the inner board. The play from Mochy increases his chance of a gammon which he did end up getting. It’s also why he didn’t cube. She was very underdeveloped in her board, so the risks outweighed the rewards. He just wasn’t concerned about being hit and he wanted to get more numbers that allow him to make inner points next turn.

      there are a few reasons: black has only two slots to get the stone in from the bridge and doing that and making the jump out to the 6-3 point is not likely. But if it happens, black's home is wide open for reentry and has a stone open which could very easily get hit. White also has the two stones on the 13 point that needs to go home and in the event they are split, you want ore than one landing spot at the 6-2, 6-3 point. so on balance, its a good risk ti tke because its quick to recover from if white gets knocked out..

      Look.
      Even if I have a bad opinion for these players(many many many mistakes),at this time surprisingly, the man played correctly. Because he gives his posibility to himself to make a door in his area and on the other hand because the girl in its area is open. If I watch the whole match, I'm sure I will count more than 300 errors.
      But I dont want because my eyes hurts when I watch players like them.

      Checkers may only be moved in one direction (i.e., around the board to your home quadrant), and may not be moved backwards. That being said, players are allowed to "preview" potential plays during their turn, which is why you may see them move checkers one way, then move them back, then try out something different. It helps to visualize what their best play may be. A player's chosen play is set and their turn finished either when they pick up their dice, or in the case where they're sharing one pair of dice, when they hit the clock.

      You can move and reverse your moves so long as it's still your turn. Usually the end of your turn is indicated by you picking up your set of dice (as backgammon comes with a set for each player) but as they are sharing the set, it is indicated by them punching the clock (or what I assume to be a player's clock, but can't be certain as it's off screen).

    • @mobiusklein9140
      @mobiusklein9140 4 года назад

      @@inuksukharata5943 WRONG, the custom is that your move ends ONLY after you pick up your dice. Nowadays, with clocks, there is only one set of dice which are not picked up they are left on the board for your opponent, thus the move is final when you hit your clock.
      It seems on the face of it that you have NEVER been to a backgammon tournament of any significance, so please stop commenting on matters that you are ignorant of.
