Longer kayaks like the BigWater 132 tend to cut through waves/wakes much better. The BigWater 132 also has a V-shaped bow, which helps 'knife' through waves. However, safety in wind is in the hands of the operator. How you approach waves and having the right equipment is typically the difference between success and a really dangerous scenario. The inclusion of a "motor" also helps cut through waves as well. 20 mph winds on open water can create some really hazardous conditions.
What we are confident in saying is the BigWater 132 is meant for just that, big water. It can cut through sizable waves and wakes. If you are an experienced paddler, the BigWater 132 could handle windier days with considerable chop. But, knowing how to approach waves in a kayak and being prepared with the right safety equipment is a must. This is all to say, the BigWater 132, especially with the addition of the ePDL cruise control function, is one of the better kayaks on the market for handling bigger water and windier conditions. Since it is a peddle assist like an E-bike, do you have to register it like other motorized kayaks??

This is really tough to say because every state is so different. Some states require you to register kayaks based on length regardless of whether they are motorized or not. This is something you'd have to check with your local laws on.
