Really like the trailer setup
Nice setup. May your year be great.😊
Fantastic video! I have the same boat and I have been struggling trying to find a good trailer option that doesn't cost me as much as the kayak did. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this video.
Glad to help. I just took it from Portland to The Delta. 10 hours each way. Towed beautifully.
Awesome setup. Do you leave the motor on when you’re towing or take it off?
Nope, it gets a nice cushiony place in the truck's back seat😄
Do you have the nine inch extension on your summit pole or the six inch one? Also being right handed do you feel your graph is better on the left side?
Honestly do not remember length. I had the graph on my right on my Native. I much prefer it on my left as i typical net on my right. While this setup worked great, I will be making changes this winter, adding a 2nd graph and putting them both across the middle. Working an a design now. As soon as Black Friday sales start, I getting a Garmin 106sv. I'll do a video of the new setup once done.
Nice setup. I'm wondering however did your Garmin fish finder power cord fit through the old town through hull fitting?
If I remember correctly, I cut the wire and soldered back together.
@@FishingAv8r great idea, thank you for the quick response.
how did you mount the pipes to the cross bar? Loved the trailer setup and want to do the same
I would use a square U bolt but my question is did you use a plate on the inside of the tube to prevent any cracking?
@@michaelsanders6381 this is exactly how it is.
No cross bar framing? Any concern if you hit your brakes hard and then you upper deck going forward or back?
I had that concern after seeing another kayaker with a DIY version do that exact thing, at a slow speed. There are top crossbars and side bars. I also think the box and basket provide stability as well.
I tried to simulate it by hand and did not experienced that with this rack. I have not experienced it on the road. Granted I have not had the perform an aggressive hard stop so not 100% sure. Honestly, a high speed brake pedal to the floor scenario would probably leave me with bigger problems.
I am comfortable with how it has performed. I now have well over 500 miles on the rack and its doing exactly as I need. I still recommend the trailer, et.al
Can you tell me more about the mount that holds the Minnkota remote. I’m having trouble finding a clamp mount like that. Thank you.
It’s a Ram Mount tough claw. RAM Mounts RAP-B-400U Tough-Claw Small Clamp Base with Ball with B Size 1" Ball for Rails 0.625" to 1.14" in Diameter a.co/d/gsHkvUa
Just bought a trailer myself! How far apart did you set your bunks?
Honestly didn’t measure. Set the kayak on the trailer and manipulated the pipes until they matched the hull.
What did you use to mount that winch eye in the front of your boat?
Standard marine u-bolt and silicone. a.co/d/1Ud4Fx3
What is the brand of Live Scope transducer mount?
Summit
Do you got take motor off to load kayak and lower the fish finder
The motor does have to come off before loading onto the trailer. I would take it off for transport anyway. If the top cross bar was about 4” higher it would not have to and I’ve considered making that modification. I have made more changes since this video was created. You can see those in my Upgrade video. I am thinking about redoing this video for 2024. Thank you for watching!
Would you happen to know the number size of the Thule box. Great idea!
Not sure of your question. Its a Thule Frontier. I can put rods as long as 7'3" in it.
@@FishingAv8r sorry I meant series number but I think I found something close. Thanks! Love the setup
What battery are you using for trolling motor
My motor battery is a Renogy100Ah. Works great love the bluetooth function. My electronics battery is a Chins 20Ah from Amazon. Here is the link to Renogy. They usually have best price on their website. www.renogy.com/12v-100ah-lithium-iron-phosphate-battery-w-bluetooth/
Do you have a link to those lights in your Thule box?
UYICOO LED Puck Lights with... www.amazon.com/dp/B09KBQVX9L?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
@@FishingAv8r thank you.
What kind of main battery do you have?
For my motor I run a Renogy 100aH. It has BMS and an App so I can monitor it on my phone and not worry about it failing due to temps. Nov 2022 it sat outside overnight in sub-20degrees and worked perfect the next morning and every time since. I can usually get 2 full days of hard running out of it.
what size pvc did you use
3inch
How wide is your pvc
The centers of the PVC are 9 1/2 inches apart.
