- Part 3 of the MK4 GLI 1.8T Big turbo build. Finally dynoing the car on 91oct and then turning it up with an ethanol blend to see what we can get out of it. There's more in it, but it's time for the client to enjoy it's new found power, we're sure it will be back for more.
Shout out to Sam for helping out with Maestro.

Watched this whole series without realizing the sub/view count. Fully thought I was watching a 1 Million+ view channel. Great stuff, cheers.
Really appreciate the comment. We're trying, maybe someday. Lol
These videos are super high quality I agree
Honestly though this channel is very informative, no nonsense drama just knowledge.
What’s the ring end gap on this
Full agreed, thankyou for such detailed information great for us wanting to absorb it all like a sponge
You guys deserve way more subscribers, stick in there, they will come. Awesome content.

GLI deserves better recognition
Agreed
This makes me feel better since I have a 05 lagoon blue I love it this makes me want to do so much more to it
@@VQKYLE410 Lots of potential for sure.
20qdewit I have one too. I want to do so much to it as well. Not a common car and people don’t realize how great they are and how much power they can make
Especially the 24v
Love this just purchased an 04 golf gti 1.8t. I am amazed at the potential these have. Was thinking of selling it but now I may just keep it. Good stuff Thank you.
Thanks. Enjoy
Cleanest MK4 GLI I have seen. Great video. Good luck to your channel and shop.
Much appreciated. 👍
Great video and understanding on conservative tune :) The crank sensor fault made the video tbh thumbs up!
Thanks. 👍
Man this makes me miss my 04.5 Blue Lagoon Gli. I will say I'm a fan of the exhaust on that too raspy, does not do the car justice, this is just my opinion so no one needs to get upset. The exhaust i wanted on mine when I had it didn't exist (3" borla) so I made it. I bought a ebay turboback kept the resonator in, cut out the ebay muffler and put in a 12" oval borla xr-1 muffler and it sounded magnificent. There's a video of it on my channel.
I have this exact car! I’m tempted to drive 22 hours to have you work on it. Good shit!

Mk4.5? What are you calling a mk4.5?
@@lucasaubin1661 the gli's
@@8gti9 but why? It is still a mk4 I don't get the .5
@@lucasaubin1661 because vw made a few/couple exterior changes. Different tail lamp colors and chrome strips on the body moldings.
@@8gti9 okay, but this does not qualify it for "mk4.5" it is still an mk4 🤷♂️ trim and tail lights do not mean a refresh. A refresh would be something like the mk6 Jetta that they changed the headlights, changed the bumper for all versions of the car, changed the grill, changed the interior completely, changed the taillights and new trunk lid shape hence the Jetta "mk6.5"

Came across this looking for a new set up for my MK4 GTI.
You've done so much but aren't you missing out by not upgrading the intake manifold to atleast 70mm?
It reached our goals varily easily so not for nothing. Could it make more, maybe some day we'll try.

What fuel pump and injectors are you running for e85?
It's just running a small blend to get some power out of it. Hardware's in description.
Love the videos. I recently picked up a 2001 mk4 1.8t 5 speed manual for a daily and want to do a few mods to get some more power but would like maybe make some big power down the road. I have a cold air and want to do the down pipe and intercooler upgrade. Would you recommend an upgrade side mount intercooler for now or just go straight to a front mount intercooler?
If your goal is power side mounts aren't going to cut it.
@@COMotorsports lol thanks! Ill go straight for a front mount then.

I that still on the stock valve train or did you upgrade the springs and retainers? Obviously there is no point revving a stock turbo to that point just curious what point the valves would flow on the 1.8t and ea888
This is updated valvetrain stock cams though.
What all is done to the motor, I got a bone stock GLS 1.8T what kind of power can it handle on stock internals i would like 250Hp/250trq I feel like that is plenty to make it come alive
All info should be in the videos or the description.

where do you get the file to flash the computer or did it come with the injectors
This car is tuned with Eurodyne Maestro.
so just with a big turbo and ethanol blend you able to push out o this gli over 400 hp ??
With a lot of additional parts yes. It's a common setup.
The stock power is 180 bhp
I've seen in the video 433 whp.
If im correct this would be around 509 bhp
Yeah right around 500bhp.
Love having 94 petro here 🙃
This is what i want... do you have the complete list of all the parts needed and where can i get them..
Most of it is listed in the description, and available on our website. Links are there also.
What flange for the exhaust did you guys use on this?
Vband everything
I have this same car. Stock. I want to flash it and do some clran mods that keep it dependable. Suggestions ?
APR tune, ST Coilovers would be my go to
I had to drop a sub but I wish I could get into this as a career
Much appreciated. We're only showing the fun stuff. lol
Idc what anyone says those mk4s were beautiful cars. My awp 1.8t jetta was totally blacked out with rs4 replicas on it. Was a pretty car.
Edit! Omfg 433hp and 336tq out of that little 20v! That's pretty impressive.
There's a newer video of this car on the dyno with a different turbo. Worth a watch.
A big late, but on the turbo kit website, what turbo and Housing are you using. Great work!
All depends on application, long term power goals and budget. This one has a turbo change later in the playlist. Worth a watch.
I been debating on going 6262 when do you spool?
Springs are recommended to get some power band out of it. Cams will make more power in this turbo. You can see spool in the video.
I have a 2008 VW PASSAT. It's for my son. Any one no ware to find a TURBO fore the motor. Any one know how to find how to. Thank you.

@@COMotorsports i know i need pull my finger out
Mint Jetta! That Precision 6262 turbo, is it Journal Bearing or Ball Bearing?
Ball bearing, side note this kit was destined for another car (basically it's a used kit) the original person wanted to make more like 600whp which is really where this turbo shines. It's snoozing at this level.
get bigger brakes for that kind of power but sounds amazing!
No need for bigger brakes, just a proper brake pad will provide amazing results.

Where you buy that intercooler from? And did the bumper need to be cut?
All the parts breakdown is in the description and can be purchased from our site. As for the bumper, it does have to be cut and modified to fit which is not uncommon for adding a front mount intercooler on a mk4.
It is this one specifically, with the 750hp core option. comotorsports.ca/cts-mk4-golf-jetta-1-8t-fmic-kit-cts-mk4-fmickit.html

How long is a piece of string? Way to many factors for a straight answer.

Or do I continue the built on the MK6R I have as well... time will tell...
I prefer the 6R, but we all have our own tastes. Best of luck on either.
@@COMotorsports it's more that the mk4 is so much cheaper to build lol. My mk6R is already united motorsports 2+ loaded tune. Only thing to add would be flex fuel and WMI. I have everything else done. It's turbo upgrade time if I really want anything out of it.
My mk4 1.8t is still stock with 129000 miles on it. Figure if I can do it with a friend who knows cars and I help, I'll learn a ton
@@TechX1320 I'd say engine wise it's no cheaper to build.... likely get to 400whp a lot cheaper on the R then you would on the 1.8t. However if you're shooting for 500+ then things become a lot more difficult with the R.
@@COMotorsports I'm around 330whp right now on my R because I don't have flex fuel through UM with my already applied UM Tune, nor do I have WMI, but those 2 things are some goals to add to my car, as well as the R8 Fuel Pressure Valve.
