Government: Shuts down internet
Starlink: Let me introduce myself
Won't help if the government bans Starlink as well.
@@Anderson_Roger You can't ban Starlink. It's like banning GPS.
@@SuperMuha2 unless Musk plans to make it free (and even then it would be somewhat sketchy), they won't be able to legally operate(and make money) if the authorities don't allow.
Raghav Mahajan Musk already has all the necessary permits to launch 1.1k satellites up there. The only thing that’s missing is a receiver, which is being developed right now. And the only thing you need for that is obviously electricity
@@dismiggo here we're discussing other countries/governments who haven't necessarily given Musk any permits. Moreover, like you said it will then come down to the sale of the receiver along with some subscription fee, both being an issue if the country decides to ban it.
Remember in Sudan last year during anti government protest the internet was shut down completely for 4 consecutive months
Mo no I did not, thank you for telling me
Kashmir : Please hold my beer..
@@kevintheminion1497 not funny dude
@@mosd3545 no. that's what I'm thinking too
Sudan is not the only country to do this. Iraq shut down the internet during protests in 2019 and Myanmar issued internet blackouts in the February 2021 coup d'etat.
Imagine you have an exam the next day and then the country shuts the internet off so you cant get on to Kahn Academy
NordVPN :- Allow me to introduce myself.
Shutdown means no isp works in that region vpn dosent work either no net at all its not censorship its turning the switch off
Here in Kazakhstan internet or mobile internet 4g , is frequently blocked by the government during the public meetings
same in india
Indian government: "Hold my chai tea".
Chai literally means tea!

We are heading into a scary era filled with sadness and loss , say your prayers everyone and stay close to God.
God is fake and bogus and all this because of Christians values!!
We're unfortunately seeing the rise of a new form of internet controlled by governments. Things like China's🇨🇳 great firewall and Russia's🇷🇺 internet kill switch are being implemented in more and more countries. The democratization of information via the internet and platforms is at risk and as a society we should advocate for a free internet before it's too late.
We can advocate all we want but at the end of the day governments can do what they want. It's also stupid for them to do this as it does have a economic impact.
Everyone should also get a VPN for this very reason
@Bruce Wayne As a Russian I would much rather be safe from Putin's propaganda. Unfortunately, that is not possible here.
that’s why russia and china anything communism is bad for the future, especially china. Shutting it oppressing human rights are morally wrong, and if you disagree it’s morally corrupted to deny the right of freedom for humans, humanity began and we all created a society sharing and trading, oppression of freedom is a human violation.
@@huckleberryfinn6578 Do you currently reside in Russia? Have you experienced anything related to the "internet kill switch" that Russia is reportedly testing?
@@andy-zu2xm Well said Andy.
Whatever country you live in, always remember that your worst enemy is your own government.
Our job as citizens is to find the way to control the government and not let it control us. It's always a confrontation.

Beautiful animation!
I am seriously curious about the tool they've used in the video
Strangely no mention of Internet blockage in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
They did talk about India.
Pretty awesome coverage! Can you guys please share the tools you've used in making this animated video?
During the shut down in Iraq I had to listen to radio for news
Follow on video please: How to get internet even when your government tries to ban it.
Sshhh!🙊 governments watching
I NEED TO NOW
Just use VPN if your line is cut off then you can't do anything.

In algeria ,This has been going for a year now the state owned internet provider shut the internet in serval occasions and not the whole country is under severe throttling
Animator should get a raise by this video
Good providing true data of india
In Cameroon it was for over 6 months in some parts of the country shutdown completely
I've noticing it too here in the Philippines. So many websites have vanished.
Amazing animations. More graphics-based videos, please.
It happened yesterday in Turkey
Protest against the govt exist in India
Government : shut down the Internet right now !
We just got back the internet today in Meghalaya state, India
This was really well made!
background music is annoying sometime, takes a toll on the main narration
Lol, just wait til Starlink blankets the globe with openly accessible Internet.
Just thinking about this while watch this video, Elon really saw the bigger picture. And the fact that no one really made such service till now shows the govt. made internet available to people to oversight us.
And then get blown up by Anti Sat Missile

@@klugshicer yeah ! Governments will figure something out ... trust me especially countries like China
It's possible to block WiFi and cellular signals.
nice animation
beautiful animations! great work.
It really sucks. I would rather government cut water supply for one day than cutting internet
Ik the contents of the video are on a sensitive topic
But who tf animates these videos, the animations are so satisfying...
Motion is on point, niiice
We all should demand encrypted, direct satellite access to the net.
You forgot to mention that they have been blocking encrypted traffic by swapping ssl certificates in handshake requests, thanks to "better" filtering failing SNI checks. Not to mention this poses man in the middle attack as who knows which authority is not authentic anymore.
The largest democracy in the world, also shuts down the internet the most.
yes, may be because democracy rather kill data then people, while for others it does not satiate their thirst for real blood
Gregory the current government is the one to blame. They act like India Is following an authoritarian form of government and they’re prime minister is the dictator. They don’t want people protesting against them so they do things like these
Now it's because the current government is trying to divide people and take their fundamental rights
They don't want people to know so
-O- O- ya same thing what I basically said
@@hilal_younus I know I tried to simplify it
It happens in India many times. Hope no shutdown anymore.
Modi Government:- (fiddling with Assam’s and Kashmir’s was internet) sorry! I didn’t hear what you said , could you repeat that
the middle east is always at war :'( can't imagine living that way.
Even in my city Guwahati (India) government blocked Internet service for entire 9 days last year in the month in December🌚
I live in india and few months ago internet was cut in our area for three days because there was a conflict going about ram mandir issue, but the thing is I live in delhi NCR and the conflict was nowhere near our area so were left without internet for 3 days for no apparent reason and my business is entirely online.
mandirs are insignificant. Why did the government shut down the internet over a mandir?
If I have a heart attack and die while trying to find heart attack help on social media the digital forensics will get someone in big trouble
What a good thinking
How many people are seeing this when there is lack of information out there about the Coronavirus
Why are we letting a bunch of hyper rich old people who don't know their routers from the modems have absolute authority over the internet?
You forgot to mention the military state Algeria 🇩🇿
That guy from the phone sounds like that automated computer voice from Talk It!
Im amazed that u didnt talk about iran.
Quick answer: they shutdown the local servers and internet providers.
This is nice
Actually democracy is turning into Monarchy system. The difference is you choose monarch for 4 or 5 years.... Then you choose some other monarch for another 4 or 5 years
WSJ didn’t miss a chance for Venezuela propaganda.
Lol just noticed that
This animator deserve a statue
I live in the United States I live in Colorado. And the government has put a ban on my Internet on my phone and my personal home.
Ten seconds into this video I disconnected from my internet
Tl;dr: "They can shut off your internet by shutting off your internet". Thanks, learned so much
Nope, they mentioned a lot more - throttling, internet curfews, workarounds, the role of ISPs and several examples to boot. What else did you expect from a 5-minute video?
Time to bring out my smoke signal kit
It's same time happen in Indonesia when Papua People's Protester 🇮🇩 honestly our government is have crisis of human right.
Ok but the animation is really good
It is for real
The power of internet authority goverment agent.
Right to internet isn't given much importance like other rights.... It's a factor to be taken seriously especially in this technological driven future where the internet is ever increasingly becoming crucial
Internet restrictions are quite common on the African Continent, Uganda just recently had an internet blackout as we went through an election.
how to access internet if government blocks internet ?
But What About [Incognito] Mode!?
Wait even data
this is going to happen soon
You can add Canada to the list.
oh my god.
Can decentralized VPN bypass this?
They hit a big button 😂
Internet shutdown in india is daily news now.. I was surprised that they have the right to do this..
This is happening now
Ohh wow
That’s why we need to build a strong decentralized internet. Government should not and must not have any power over the internet, none.
In my country, Myanmar, they just shut down internet in Rakhine because of Civil War
starlink will change everything
Me watching from Myanmar * ___*
ugh.
Ok idk how
Starlink+VPN: Let us introduce ourselves
What is the solution?
Darknet
Use tor browser.
Speaking from Indian occupation of Kashmir, net is shut from past 8 months 🤒
Had to use a VPN!! And its throttled to 2G! No social media either! VPN!!
just change dns server?
Starlink
The same thing happen to people of p4pu4
But it does help stop spread of unrest. Lots of terrorist groups operate via facebook, cutting the line will largely block communications.
How about VPN ? 🤷♂️
sadly this also hapens in democratic countries, not only authoritarian countires. Spain has restricted access to some websites without a judicial order multiple times trying to avoid the comunication of Catalan independency movement
Who’s here after Myanmar government shut down the internet due to protest
The smart ones are still able to function well without it ;)
Countries are now moving towards creating a internal internet an INTRANET. China and Russia are currently working on it and once done they will export the equipment to other countries. China has already provided many authoritarian countries equipment to control social media/internet access and face recognition software with advanced ai to track down protestors.
In parts of India mainly in Kashmir its been more than 6 months since India shut down the internet.
