In the summer of 2022, we found a used Home Depot animatronic Halloween Witch for sale! Since we already have a bubbling witch’s cauldron, we thought she’d be a great addition to our 2022 Halloween decorations so we got to work unboxing and assembling her! This animated Halloween witch, made by Home Accents Holiday, features glowing red LED eyes, a motion sensor, and an animatronic rocking motion. She also cackles and says scary things about luring trick or treaters with candy! 😱
The rocking chair witch is a decent Halloween prop but we knew that with a little DIY love we could unleash her inner forest witch power and turn her into the terrifying hag she was truly meant to be. We’re so happy with how this epic prop redo turned out and we hope you enjoyed watching it! Let us know if there are any Halloween Animatronics you’d like to see us upgrade!

I was thinking Just cover it up with gause fabric or a veil hanging from the hat. That way the wig isn't altered just disguised & reusable. Granted I didn't think, like you, of Jay using it. Great Idea! ‼️ 🧟♀️

She legitimately looks like one of those people sitting there waiting to scare the kids like they pretend to be a fake Halloween prop. This looks like a person with a mask on and maybe some kind of gloves or like their hands have been painted. Turned out very cool. Looks great!
You know what is going to scare the kids when they don't have an environment to live in it which is what's going to happen if Americans keep buying toys from China

When I first saw the witch before the make over, I was like rolling my eyes at how cheesy she sounded because she just did not have that witchy vibe. Then once the makeover was complete, I was like actually really scared to look at her. She actually looks somewhat terrifying. If you just set her off somewhere in the woods on a foggy day, someone could be walking by when she suddenly goes off.

Oh this was fantastic! Love that you upgraded her hands and face. Gotta do more of these! There are so many overpriced animatronic items from spirit that need makeovers. Or even changed into something different. Like a crappy looking zombie or clown into a werewolf or vampire maybe even a lifesize dead doll.

Very cool, I love it. If only they could make better sounds for these animatronics. That's another one of my gripes. Why do they need to add all the other weird background sound effects, and make the voice sound like it's in a cavern? Just make it sound like what it is, as in this case, a witch sitting in front of you. The light-up eyes never made much sense to me either, but it's tolerable. Anyway, fantastic job, as usual. Jaimie, you are so awesome with those paint skills. It almost always looks like you start out just randomly putting paint in random places, then time lapse, and it now looks so realistic. Blows me away every time. Jay, great job on the structural additions. You guys definitely leveled this up to be worth what one would normally pay for it, maybe more. Thanks.

Goodwill is one of my favorite stores to find good props! I work on a lot of plays in my town and sometimes I don't have time to order something online so goodwill is a great place to find something I can use. Great job one the witch. This has always been my dream! I always go to spirit Halloween and I'm shocked at how expensive those animatronics are (not to mention cheap looking!) My husband and I make costumes or upgrade bought ones. Like last year our son wanted to be his own Funko pop. We built a huge box that rolled. It even had plexiglass to resemble the clear plastic. I hand painted all the artwork, and we put those LED lights that you can put on the back of your TV so you could see him at night. My husband wanted a human pig hybrid mask to be a psycho butcher pig. I ordered one off of Amazon and it was piglet pink. I repainted it (my first time trying that) and it came out so good! I am excited to try more things like that! Great job on the witch!

This looks SO COOL! Great job making this into something so unique and scary! I love Goodwill (and other thrift stores). So much gets discarded these days--you can find almost anything at thrift if you keep your eyes open. Also--your dollar store still only charges a dollar? Ours has gone up to $1.25! Probably a different chain, but still--I feel ripped off (as if $1.25 were a lot to pay lol)

We have the same witch that we bought new. Last year her back broke and she won’t rock anymore 😢 I’m loving the idea of giving her a makeover. Even if she doesn’t rock, she will still talk and scare the visitors 🖤 thanks for the inspiration!

As long as you guys have the right voltage, having a plug that has more amps is ok. Yes I'm like you, I keep plugs and broken electronics for parts! Also thriftshop for stuff like that!
Yes!!! We ended up at 700mA instead of the 1.5a it wanted but seems ok.
@@WickedMakers The risk you could run into is if the witch pulls more than the 700mA which is .7A, the plug could over heat. Fire risk. I love your projects!!!!

This is such an amazing transformation! I personally would have added tears to the bottom of the dress and sleeve holes and rubbed mud on it. But you guys have inspired me and I think I'll do a decoration transformation for Halloween!
You did a great job making this decoration more detailed. That part takes talent. however you should be consider of other peoples faiths and spirituality. It's bad enough that the classical image of the "witch" is done like this when this is new age spiritual path. However the fact you put a pentacle around her neck, with the point up no less when she is clearly supposed to be depicted as scary and evil is insensitive and offensive to those who walk new age paths. The pentagram and pentacle have a long history in human culture, and more recently the symbol is associated with balance, harmony and protection, using it like this for a prop is just wrong IMO.
Just showed my wife your videos recently from Facebook as well as finding on RUclips and let me tell you, from the scarecrow to this witch I was absolutely stunned and jealous of your fine talent! You guys are amazing and hopefully I will be able to work on stuff like this.😊
Oooo! She looks MUCH happier! Most commercial products meet a minimum of quality and materials as a function of economics and ANY amount of personalized makeover will generally make it better. Granted, it's takes some time and creativity but if you put in the effort, you can come out with an outstanding and unique prop that no one else has. Your witch looks infinitely better than its just-out-of-the-box assembly; great attention to detail, especially the jewelry! It's those little, subtle touches that can make it a truly great prop. Congrats.
This is my favorite animatronic you guys have made over! The scarecrow a close second. Love them! You give them more realism and personality! Cant wait to see more!

You can make woodgrain with paint. First paint the brown background color (Or whatever color you want) Then use black paint with a damp kitchen sponge and wipe the paint on, making the woodgrain. If you spin the sponge in a tight circle, you can make knots in the pattern as well. You can also just dry brush some paint to make the wood grain if you don't want your hands dirty. But it takes some practice.

Such a difference. She's a whole new witch. I have an inexpensive witch that I bought last year who I plan on padding out with pool noodles and a new dress so she'll look a little better. This helped me get some ideas on what to do. She didn't come with a hat but I randomly added a fascinator that was laying around and it looks so silly that I left it on. I don't have a budget because I snatched up one of the Raven Lords from a Spirit store on opening day. He is awesome. Neighbors will love him. Keep doing what you do.

Bro, I have that EXACT animatronic and I used to be terrified of the witch. I think it was because of her glowing eyes and the fact that she is motion detected. Scared the absolute heck out of me whenever I passed her.
