I lived near Cape Canaveral as a young boy and was fortunate to see the early launches in person. Later I worked at Kennedy Space Center and got to meet many of the original Astronauts. These were men with nerves of steel and adventurous spirits. You might say they were adrenalin junkies. But they were also demanding and expected the best efforts from the support crew of which I was proud to be one.
Your animations bring the history of space exploration alive in a way other documentaries cannot achieve. This production of John Glenn's Friendship 7 flight is another valuable contribution to our understanding of what early astronauts experienced. Thank you for taking us along for a ride in a Mercury capsule! Superb!
I regret that I have only one like to give. It's one heck of a thing to see from John Glenn's perspective. It'd be difficult for a person to get much more courageous than that. Thank you for making this.
Wow, this is some great stuff! Really feels like you’re there in the capsule with John, experiencing both the wonders and stresses of spaceflight along with him. Keep it up!
This is s great animation - this was the big one for the US . Alan Shepard's sub-orbital lob was one-thing but this was a man in orbit - a real space mission . Glenn had been bitterly disappointed not to be picked for the first flight but this was the big one.
I recall the actual event from my childhood days, which was viewed through grainy TV footage back then. This excellent animation brings it to life again and reflects the bravery of John Glenn and his pioneering colleagues.
Wow. What an incredible video. I dont even want to know how long this took. The accuracy is incredible. Just a great job. I've warched it three times now.
It is clear that you put a great deal of hard work into making this production. I was particularly glad to see that you correctly blew off the protective thruster caps from the retro pack, as nearly everyone get it wrong and shows thruster flames with the caps still on. Well done!
Well done.👍 I love the scene from the movie "The Right Stuff" when the old Aborigines Man flies with Glenn. ...and the sparks of fire are these little things that circle around the spaceship. Very nice.👍❤️
Outstanding work there my friend! Kept me on the edge of my chair! You have outdone yourself, take a bow, you earned it! I remember being a small boy watching this on our black and white TV when it happened. Of course we never knew all this was going on and I thank you for the memories, truly impressive!
We went from a country idolizing heroes like this that keep a resting heart rate while facing death to idolizing people like Drake in just fifty years. Just in time to give feedback training for super-intelligent machines. God help us all.
Absolutely amazing historical work. I just wish however, that there was more "creative freedom" with the unlimited freedom of the 3D environment, and less of a cinematic approach. Other than that, keep on showing us history like we're there.
Could it have been ice particles he was seeing? It occurred just as the capsule was coming into the sunlight. The heat from the sunlight could have loosened up any accumulations stuck to a vent or something.
It was later determined that the "fireflies" was condensation that came from the life support system and froze to the side of capsule during the night. They came loose and were lit up in the sunrise.
Also the affect is somewhat similar to the "twilight effect" seen during launches where when the booster reaches an altitude where it reaches sunlight again. The exhaust illuminates and shines brilliantly from the perspective of the ground. The sunlight is being scattered by the exhaust, and here from what condensation was falling away from the capsule during the orbital sunrise.
Wasn't john supposed to be humming battle hymn of the Republic as he was a big fire ball like ed Harris did ??? Im so used to the movie. Still a great viddie and he was such a great brave man who was always so humble about his accomplishments not a loud blowhard hero like some fighter pilots would.
The swirling luminous objects were a real occurrence. Anyone care to speculate what they were? If I didn’t know it really happened I would have thought this was science fiction. What were they???
Ice particles originating from the environmental control system breaking off and being lit up by the rising sun. Scott Carpenter, who flew after Glenn, basically made it his personal mission to definitively find out what the "fireflies" were.
I've noticed in virtually interview and documentary, Glenn maintains that he was never informed about the landing bag deploy indicator,... yet we clearly hear them informing him during the re-entry procedure. Has he simply forgotten this, or does he purposefully exaggerate the story for the sake of a story?
He was more upset he wasn’t informed of the bag deploy indicator when it actually happened, rather than at the last possible moment. The indicator went off at the start of the second orbit, but Glenn wasn’t even clued in to anything being wrong until near the end of the third orbit. And once he was told something was off-nominal, he wasn’t told exactly what until several minutes later.
@@CbassProductions You still need instructions to relay before you can give such info. Unless there is something proactive the astronaut can do, it ends up only serving as distraction
Even if there was nothing he could have done about it, as a test pilot he still wanted to have as up-to-date information about his spacecraft as possible, even if just for situational awareness. Being kept in the dark robbed him of that.
@@CbassProductions all I can think of is RETRO: "Flight, they're still shallowing a bit up there. You wanna tell em?" FLIGHT: "Is there anything we can do about it?" RETRO: "Not right now, Flight" FLIGHT: "Then they don't need to know, do they?"
What blows my mind is this was less than 17 years after the end of WW2 and less than 100 years after the end of the American civil War.
59 years after the Wrights flew at Kitty Hawk
The small particles that John Glenn described starting at 3:30 (also called "fireflies"), turned out to be ice crystals from his spacecraft.
Godspeed, John Glenn

I'm glad you were so fortunate.
That’s great
Very impressive animation! Brings the story of Friendship 7 to life.
I grew up with this as a young kid and now watch Space X.
God bless you.
When starship gets orbit it’s going to be amazing
"not at this time"... The face said everything. Beautiful attention to detail.b
John Glenn sounds like the perfect test pilot

Got the chills, Roger
As a skinny teenager in the 70's, I got to look inside a Mercury capsule. I remember thinking "I don't believe I could fit in there".
This is such a technical animation, one of the best around!
Thank you for this. I was 19 years old when this took place and I remember it like it was yesterday. You've brought it back to life. And me too.
All of Corey’s stuff is really good, this will be too
I've liked everything he has uploaded 😁
The mirror on the chest in the last shot was cool. Forgot all about that. 😂😂😂😂😂😅

That actually was a mistake I made in my Freedom 7 animation. Made it a point to get it right this time.
As a kid I recall them telling Glenn to keep the retro pack on well before he actually fired the retro rockets. But damn, this is awesome!
This is awesome
AMAZING! Thank YOU!
Channel is underrated.
Well done.👍

Wow! Thank you SO much! Excellent work.
I learned a lot watching this. Things I didn’t know
Beautiful.
Most underrated video
Very impressive video! I remember the original, and I hate to say it, but your version was a hell of a lot better!
INCREDIBLE WORK, @C-bass Productions!
I was seven years old when this happened - remember it well. Excellent work !
Thank you, these things, these people, must be remembered.

I predict that this RUclips channel will launch through the stratosphere of success soon
This stuff you have been doing lately is crazy! AMAZING
Breathtaking & heart palpitating trying to imagine & visualize being there…heroes & giants of humanity’s progress to the stars! 🤙🏽
Great to see what it was really like! Thank you.
Excellent work! Really brings Glenn's mission to life - just like being there! Better than the documentaries :)
Nice job
You are absolutely amazing! Thank you for this magical animation ✨. You make us dream 🫶
Amazing video! Thanks for making this reenactment of history. Made sure to sit through both ADs 👊
Amazing. Thank you 🫡
Great video, wonderful animation. Would have been nice John Glenn himself would have been able to relive his adventure this way. Impressive work!
Superb, thank you
That was truly great to watch. Congrats and more please!
Wonderful!
MY GOD THIS IS JUST SO SIMPLE AND INCREDIBLE!! REALLY BOUGHT THIS TO LIFE! BEAUTIFUL WORK! 😍😍👌👌👍👍👌👌👌
A+++ nice job!!
This was so good. Thank you so much for you work. 👍
Wonderful stuff. Really enjoyed the graphics 😘
Amazing video-thank you!
The animations of John are so natural! Can't believe how much you've improved since I first subbed. Keep it up!
Just stunning. Great work again!
Really impressive! Excellent work! Can't imagine how long it takes to make this.
These animations are so good i hope you keep it up!
This is brilliant, well done! 👏
Very well done, I am speechless !!!! 👍👍👍👍
really well done, full cg guy was great
Thanks!!!

Very nicely done. Thank you!
Well done!
Left my compass on this way🎉💯
Deeply moving. Thank you so much.
Wow they look very real.
Excelente animación recreando momentos históricos fascinantes.
alucinante!!!
It's a real movie!
Skipped the main chutes Brah?!? Overall a good animation.
How the hell did you get me to worry all over again!?
You wouldn’t want to be claustrophobic during the days when you didn’t so much get into a space capsule as you put it on.
well that was nice !! thanks ! bravo zulu
😃😃😃😃
WOW...
You are getting 25 per cent "likes" to views when the average is 5 percent. Totally understandable! Fantastic work. Thank you.

epic!
Great. But I think John Glenn has to smile a little bit more.
That was better than First Man

Никак я не могу понять - кто же первый американский космонавт? Джон Гленн или Алан Шеппард?
Alan Sheppard was the first American in space (ruclips.net/video/JjAKmhSCjyg/видео.html), John Glenn was the first to orbit the earth in space.
I've noticed in virtually interview and documentary, Glenn maintains that he was never informed about the landing bag deploy indicator,... yet we clearly hear them informing him during the re-entry procedure. Mmmm😏
That does not look like John Glenn , more like The Humongous Face from Mad Max.
Is this original audio?
Yes, it is
@@CbassProductions That's awesome, great job dude!
