    I have not tied any lures or flies in a long time. All of my fishing tackle was stolen some years ago including all of the fly patterns I had tied. Now, I'm hoping to get my son interested so he can develop a hobby for himself as part of therapy for depression & anxiety. Fishing is one of best therapies ever! Enjoyed your video presentation of this pattern, next get some footage of how to fish this using either a fly rod or light spinning tackle.

    Nicely presented. At your age you are very articulate and well versed.. Congratulations 👍…I’m thinking a longer fly of yours would make an excellent striper fly !!

    Lefty Kreh created the deceiver in the 1950's. Same principle as your fly, it's a proven pattern and your version is nice. The grizzly lateral line is a nice detail

    personally i think it looks better without the fish mask. tie the same fly, but with tab eyes instead of the mask, it will be cheaper to tie, faster to tie, easier to tie, and fish just as well. it will push plenty of water with that lazer dub head

    • @TheFlyFiend
      @TheFlyFiend  5 лет назад +1

      Lightest id use is a 9ft 5wt, I use a 9ft 6wt and cast just fine, I use a floating WF line and most times have a intermediate poly leader, depending on water dept etc..

    • @TheFlyFiend
      @TheFlyFiend  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Tanner ! Depending What You Are Fishing River Or Lake I Would Suggest Fishing A Sinking Leader For River And Full Sink Line For Lake, If The River Is Deep You Can Fish Full Sinking Line. You Can Pick Up A Poly Sinking Leaders In Different Lengths And Sink Rate ( How Fast It Sinks ) For Fairly Cheap That Attaches Right To Your Fly Line! Hope This Helps.

    • @zackw9292
      @zackw9292 6 лет назад +1

      Tanner Swaringen - I tie something very similar to this except i wrap the body with 0.30 lead. This helps to sink it a bit and I usually fish it with a sinking or intermediate line. When I need to get deeper, I tie a similar pattern except using the flymen baitfish heads.
