HDTVtest measured low input lag on the QNED 99 8k with 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. So either there is a difference between them with the way the HDMI processing is done, or something may have been acting up in my first gaming test. I played more last night at 60hz and it felt fine.
I believe the price should come down as well!!! With cheaper tv's preforming just as well. Tv companies need to start realizing they can't just live off there NAMES anymore. I was really disappointed with the sony X90J, I'm hoping the X95J will be better but I don't know!!! I'm still interested in the hisense dual cell TV. But the price needs to come way down... its sad LG used to be my go to tv's ☹
Great overview ! It would be great if you could test if this tv is flicker-free. It is so hard to find this info. I guess only rtings does this measurement in their reviews
Thanks for the upload! I think you’re one of the first RUclipsrs in the US to post an unboxing/initial setup of this TV.
Lots of info in this 20 minute first look. That's great, thanks Classy. Look forward to the review.
This is why classy is becoming my favorite. It doesn't matter what tv he prefers he gives such an honest review especially when he points out that to some people this might be the perfect TV even though some reviews will trash it.
I think most TVs have a place. Obviously people are buying them for some reason or another. I try to find the reason one should consider TV X for reason Y.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Would you say that this or the QN90A would be better for movie watching? Appreciate any reply or insight you could give!

Is much better in every aspect.
I own the LG and Samsung (in my dining room).
@@Avi_oz how is the DSE on that tv? I just got a Samsung q90T last February. And the DSE is horrendous! And getting worse over time. That tv was for my den now looking to upgrade for my living room and seriously leaning toward this tv. I’ve had LG’s in the past and they have served me well! For 6-8 years with no issues!
Black Levels look really good. I'm looking forward to the more in-depth review. Thank You.
Thank you buddy!! Awesome work!! Love your content Classy!!
Really interesting! Thanks for early look but also the helpful side by side with the G1. I’m considering a C1 or this tv for a gaming movie mix and I was excited to see where this tv landed in performance compared to the OLeDs.
For dark room OLED is op, qned or VA is for bright rooms only
I have being watching videos about this tv. Yours is the best by far comparing it with a good reference TV. Thanks.
Good vid 👍can’t wait for full review… I’m stuck in what to get c1 or the qned99 🤷♂️
Hey new to the channel but really enjoy the content. I own a lg sm9500 and in my opinion it’s easily the best ips led tv lg has made up to this point. Hoping this tv here will pass it because I’m in the market for a non oled tv for gaming. On my sm9500 I can turn on black frame insertion and the contrast becomes very good and because it’s so bright it still packs a nice hdr punch. Id love to see the difference in contrast ratio on this qned with bfi turned on and off. It should be bright enough to pull of a vibrant image with it on. Just an idea for a test would love to see if it really improves the performance because blacks look deeper and blooming is much better on my tv. Keep up the good work buddy!!!
Thanks for the quick overview. Shows promise if priced right and OLED isn’t an option. Looking forward to full review.
Well Done for a first impression
The one on the left is incredibly sharp!
Thanks @Keep It Classy Tech 2 things if I may : test the uniformity of the panel with grey background to check if LG solve the dirty screen effect of their Mini led tech. And it seems only the 8K series has special hole to be embedded on a wall, which is really disappointing !
Really love your honesty keep up the good work from a fellow you-tuber🥂.
Great video, thanks
Nice LG TV 👍
Not gonna lie for ips this is pretty good ans the way it looked next to an oled still looked pretty good I mean this is a huge step forward for lg in the lcd/led department colors look great tbh
I just got the 8K version of this TV and the IPS Image Quality, HDR Blacks and Highlights, Depth and Beauty is so much more Above and Beyond the VA Panel of the Samsung QN90A 4K MiniLed TV that I returned!
@@DontBeAWhoreAnymoreJesusIsHere yeah the 8k version is a bit of a step up from the 4k from what I've heard but the 4k still looks pretty good I think your 8k has almost double the zones but it needs it at its sizes
@@reviewforthetube6485 LOL, yes Totally!
I got it at a discount for $1200 (65"). It's leaps and bound better than my Vizio M8 2018. In an open house concept where the kitchen lights out dining room lights always interfere, it's not important how dark the screen gets but how bright. We have a wide L seating arrangement. It's cool to see the screen colors are still normal when not sitting at the center.
Thank you for all the details. This TV actually doesn't look bad. LG missed the mark by not having 4 HDMI 2.1 ports tho. That definitely would have added more appeal.
I have the 75QNED99UPA. It's an amazing TV. Very uniform panel, and deep blacks. Curious as to QNED90 vs QNED99 series.
My buddy has an LG LCD from 2 years ago, IPS panel, 65, it’s really good!!!… had to do a double take when I first saw it
The IPS 8K version of this TV is Mind Blowing compared to the VA Samsung 4K MiniLed!
@@DontBeAWhoreAnymoreJesusIsHere I just don't get why they couldn't include VRR. That's really annoying for the 8K QNED Models. I still might get it but my decision won't be as definitive as when I assumed it had VRR.
@@XBLdynamatrix I totally Agree!
I just picked up the 65QNED91 (UK/EU equivalent of QNED90), for under £950. Loving it so far. Not had a lot of time to play with the settings, but to my eye, the blacks are so good and with the FLAD, It is close enough to OLED for me. I have turned down panel brightness to about 60 as it was simply too bright for us.
I would have loved an OLED, but the price was just too much for me, and this was a very decent deal. Also, I just know that the way my wife and son use the TV, we would have had burning - they have a habit of leaving things on pause for a long time.
The top brightness may not be as much as some expected, but it is more than enough for me in a room that is very bright in the day, and the contrast is very, very good at night with Local dimming on Medium / High.
glad ips is getting better at last
Thanks Classy! Love the way you talk to ordinary people like me and most buyers. Look forward to the review!
What do you think about me shopping this 75"qned90 and replays it with my oled65" C8?
Will I get a better picture and experience on (Netflix, CNN, BBC)? Gaming is not for me!
Thanks again for your work!
Did you end up with the QNED90 by any chance. I saw the 75" at Best Buy and it had really good colors and such, and right now they have it on sale for $2100. Would really like the C1 or A80J, but $3k for just the TV is kind of steep, where I could get both this and a decent sound bar setup for the same price.
Man really appreciate this review. I'm really interested in this just because of playing 2 MMOs heavily not worth awful constant on screen huds so I don't wanna go oled. However I'm a huge emissive display kinda guy. Still got my zt60 plasma for movies and my Sony x930c is getting a little old
Keep up the great work on this, I had a real struggle decided on this but what you’ve said sounds right on compared to the Sony. I was debating whether to go with the X90j or kill myself and get the x95 but I have a 900h in the living room and it’s short on colors and the mini led dimming still seems very good even with an IPS and especially compared to the nano 90 this is miles better than that and worth the expense over the Sonys l. Thank you for this really great stuff
Good first look. My big question is how reflective is the screen compared to OLED? I am looking at QNED as I have large windows that produce bad glare on OLED and the QN90A from Samsung wasn't impressive in store at reducing glare.
If the window is directly facing the TV then sadly I can't think of any TV that could handle that well. I did have my curtain open at the beginning of this video to show the difference of it next to the OLED. It diffuses the light but it can't reject as much light as OLED.
Hey Classy great initial review, can a firmware update possibly help or change the input lag? This tv being so new and right out of the box seems like a few updates may work some of the bugs out.
It may have just been a buggy first play. Played more at 60hz and it was fine. So not sure what happened but looking more in to it.
Interested in a direct head to head between the QNED 90 85 and the Sony X95J 85.
Application is commercial with a mixture of movie watching, digital signage, video conferencing, occasional video games and presentations.
I decided to push go on the 75” ONED91 European version of the QNED90. At €1736 including tax and delivery it was too good an offer to pass up!
For image quality, which do you think would prevail. The LG G1 or the Sonr Bravia xr?
I am looking forward to a full review, and would love to see a shootout with the X95J.
Thank you for the setup and initial thoughts.
Did you calibrate the QNED90? How does it look calibrated? I can not get on board with OLEDs! With the potential for burn in and imagine retention. It gives me nightmares. More so since I had a plasma back in the day. And don’t want to go down that road again. When I buy a tv I want it to last 8-10 yrs. I use my tv for everything a lot of gaming, streaming, movies, and sports.
Between this and G1 which is better for movies and game? Thanks
Which one is better for gaming ?
LG qned 90 vs samsung qn90 ?
LG qned 90 vs samsung qn85?
Thanks Classy, how was the off axis viewing angle compared to the VA panels?
Viewing angles are very good side to side. Above and below not so great.
If IPS panel match the VA panel black contrast. I find ips panel color saturation pops more thab VA and viewing angles are good now hope they can match the black level of a VA panel
Hey classy if I get this TV I'm going to calibrate it, so I'm know I'm going to get the reference calibration out of it especially when Calman release the calibration stuff for it just like with my sm9000 now I'll turn it to a reference monitor meaning calibration is on point and with those mini LED and deeper blacks oh yeah its on VA lovers, the only problem I have my sm9000 all four ports are 48 gbps and it has DTx decoder and know LG going to put that Dolby vision 120 later on the qned
Good vid
I like to see this tv comparison with the Sony X95j
How do you go to the Bluetooth settings?
I was hoping this was going to be an alternative to the c1 but I don’t think it’s quite there
about the black bars and blooming on subtitle how bad is? or ins't bad at all?
Quick question this or u7h for mixed use movies games and tv
Hello,
Would you get a Sony KD85x85k over qned 85? I'm deciding between LG 86Qned85uqa vs Sony KD85x85k
The black levels look fantastic for an ips panel, I think you mentioned it having deeper blacks than an X90J so is it possible for an ips panel to surpass a VA panel ?
Black levels are good but not darker than the X90j in zones that are turned on. But the range is higher as this gets brighter. Also this TV has 912 zones for 32 on the x90j
So would you say this tv would be a better dark room tv for gaming and movies over the X90J?
@@hammaadulde356 yes
This TV was re-released as the 65QNED83UPA as a Best Buy exclusive for Black Friday 2022. Anyhow I just got one on clearance for $950. I understand it's older specs, but a good price for a TV that's still a lot better then most current models under $1000.
Thankyou
need help!! For gaming, this or qn90a?
Which has the best blacklevels in gamemode? And for movies qned loses a lot to qn90a? tks a lottt!!!
Mesma dúvida.
QNED 90 is flicker free thats reason I liked about it.
Awesome video! After your initial take, do you think it would be better than the QN90A for gaming purposes? Kinda bummed it only had one HDMI 2.1 port that wasn’t eARC, but I think the Dolby vision feature is huge.
I’m between those two TVs (QN90A and LG QNED90).
The dimming on the QNED 90 looked really good, and it having almost double the zones of the QN90A is a big deal. The price tho is also a concern, as right now it’s $200 more than the QN90A.
If they don't add 120hz DV gaming then I would say most would rather forgo DV and instead do HDR 120hz. So then no reason to not get the QN90A for gaming.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations awesome man, didn’t even put two and two together for that. Hopefully they’ll add DV 120HZ.
Thanks for the reply and looking forward to the official review video!
@@ClassyTechCalibrations what is DV Gaming?
Why does the website say "Game optimizer, which make it easy to toggle between g-sync and freesync"???
It's written at the very bottom
Is this Qned any better than Oled A80J for movie watching only?
Most likely not. It'll get brighter but contrast and black level won't be able to match any oled for that matter.
for gaming & movies in a sunlit room:
QNED90 or HiSense U8G?
U8G isn't good for gaming
Did this lg Qned get the Dolby Vision 120hz update yet ?
It has it now yes
The color meter you have is it the I one display pro Plus or the regular one
The pro plus
@@ClassyTechCalibrations and you get a thousand nits wow I'm definitely keep in my LG sm9000 now or I get the C1 or g1 LG purposely take out some stuff out of your TV so oled can sell
You must have gotten a better tv than hdtvtest. He had an insanely huge amount of blooming issues and shadow detail issues. The zones couldn’t handle stars and would flicker on and off when a star field was on screen. Hmmm 🤔 interesting 🧐.
Please compare it to Samsung qn90a
Sony x95j or this? 85 inches
What are the differences between this & QNED91 series ?
QNED91 series is the model for European, Asian and Austrian markets. Basically they are the same TV just configured for their respective markets with localized tuners, services etc. I just ordered the 75QNED913PA which is the model number for the EU Baltic states, Poland, Latvia etc. In Germany/Switzerland the same model is 75QNED919PA and in UK it’s 75QNED916PA
Will qned 90 and 99 support dolby vision gaming @120 hz
Just like the g1 and c1 can be update and put in later don't mark it out as yet
This tv makes me even more excited for sony to implement miniled lol
wow for shadow details but compare to Samsung 1000 vs 18000 nits really disappointed
I think IPS for gaming are better than VA honestly
what about sound system built in with TV Samsung QN90A vs LG QNED90, built in speakers will decide if I am picking one!
QNED is better at some points. Check the scene on 17:19 the color is more accurate and details are more visible.
SDR applications vs QNED90?
Need more time with SDR but it looked fine. But have to lower the backlight. It defaults way too high giving more grey blacks.
Calman almost broke the TV so trying to get that working.
Why did Brian from 'B the Installer' dislike this TV so much that he swore to avoid all IPS panel TV sets from now on?
How much and is it worth it over LG Flagship OLED ?????
It's not
I just wanted to ask does anyone think it will be worth waiting until 2022, to buy a lg qned? I know the lg qned just released, or is in the process of releasing right now. But I just wanted to see what everyone thought lg will do with a mini led tv, for next year/will their be any major upgrade in terms of itspicture processing or gaming features for an Xbox series x?
Only major game changing upgrade it can have is a VA panel
@@TheUndefeatedOfTheEast hmm… I’m guessing that is not 100% likely…. But I may wait until after ces 2022 to buy a tv, at the moment, anyways though if I find one for a good deal, I may just have to buy one. I mean I would prefer to wait for an even more color packed panel, but I am not sure if it’s worth waiting much longer….
This tv is trash! I thought x90j was bad but this is worser than Sony! Don’t waste your time and money! With this money you can buy A80j Oled better tv!
not sure if the camera ISO is hiding the blooming, or the local dimming algorithm is actually good? that would be a first for an LG TV
but i read va panel its better in all qled to many blame about ips and here anyone said nothing why?
Classy you are my friend now I don't know how people say they are movie lovers are like better picture quality when a VA panel is hiding stuff thanks for pointing it out cuz it seems like nobody want to say anything about it like they think I don't have a eyes I can't see it in there videos hiding a lot of stuff I see on the reviews and don't speak about it like oh I'm supposed to only listen to what they say man come
So the A7 gen 4 chip doesn't seem to hinder it much? Compared to the A9 gen 4.
Its menu system and making adjustments is slower, and upscaling doesn't look as sharp.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations I am debating between this QNED 90 in 86" or the C1 in 83" think it's worth the upgrade in the A9 chip plus OLED for $1,700 more in price? I know price is kind of to each their own thing but wanted to get your take on the two. Since you have the G1 figured it would be close to the C1.
@@jasonmeinhardt4631 do you like an accurate image where things look how they are supposed to, or do you like to boost up the brightness? If you want accuracy go OLED.
@@jasonmeinhardt4631 I would go 86" over 83". Simple as that.
AR seems to be weaker than Samsung?
Fantastic, honest review … a quick question … how come most people measure contrast with 120 nits of brightness and you did it on 750 ? Is there any difference ?
For example if you measured blacks with 120 nits, would the figure of 0.038 remain ? Or would the actual black measurement drop as well ?
Because if the 0.038 figure remains at 120 nits as well then the contrast drops to 3157 … in which case, which is the real contrast ratio of the tv ?
Thank you
Keep up the good work!

I just got the LG 86" QNED 90 for $2700
Does this support HDR10+?
HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR according to specs.
Pretty disappointing brightness numbers. Black quality is not surprising. Its IPS so contrast is not going to be great, even with local dimming. You can get black detail back on QN90A if you adjust the settings if you want that. Thanks for your speedy upload.
I wonder if LG has limited the brightness on this TV, so that its picture quality doesn't get to close to its OLED lineup?
