  • Tempered glass performs better in the scratch-resistant and shock-proof features with oleophobic coating and silicon-based shock-proof layer. Hydrogel gets better screen display and smooth feel to touch.

      What do you mean "now I need a screen protector". The plastic that was on the screen has no impact protection, you can hut tempered glass with a hammer and just peel it off to reveal your screen is perfectly fine

    i use glass protectors that have a soft silicon like layer underneath. they require no glue. simply place it in position on your phone, once you get it where you want it, touch the center of the protector and it seals itself from the middle outwards. quite satisfying to watch too. you get the bonus of glass scratch resistance and the shock or impact resistance of a gel protecter and they have NO negative impact on touch. with both working together, less likely to have a rock or something crack the main screen of your phone. over the last 2 years of using them, i have had my phone land face down so many times and always expected it to be smashed, especially when dropped on gravel, but the protecters worked wonderfully. i stock a few spares too so i can swap them out when they get a few cracks.
    im about to try a gel one on a new phone but seeing how thin it is, i dont think its going to the job.

    • @buhrrito
      @buhrrito 2 года назад +1

      I want to add the glass doesn't really add "shock absorption" it takes the hit for the screen and in some exceptions, it ends up chipping or breaking the screen too. The TPU holds everything nice together. Just make sure you have a decent case for the drops. The TPU takes the scratches pretty good. I have TPU on my RAZR outside and inside and I'm satisfied.

    But can the hydrogel screen protector handle being in my pocket while Im working on the floor and roll over and there's a small rock on the hard floor and the screen makes contact with the screen with the weight of my hips and thighs and cracks it?
    Because this happened to me with an old phone while working on a car and the tempered glass took all the hit. It was so bad I thought that my phine screen was also broken but when I removed the tempered glass the phone screen was in perfect condition.

  • @blind5211
    @blind5211 2 года назад +22

    why I never prefer glass:
    I got my glass protector cracked very very soon after the purchase. I don't blame anyone but myself though, it's just me being clumsy. I refused to buy a new one, thinking I'd just quickly crack it as well due to my clumsiness and that would turn into a loop of money wasting. So I lived with lots of cracks with very tiny glass shards in them. These shards would fall out every now and then. New ones would crumble and fall out as well. I was worried about hurting my own fingers or someone else's (by letting people use my phone), or maybe even getting them into my food accidentally. Hydrogel protector frees me from all of that, so for me that one reason is already strong enough to choose it over glass. Yeah, perhaps it sometimes sticks off your screen a bit, which could lead to some air bubbles, dust particles or hairs getting stuck underneath, which you have to manually fix. But for me all of these problems are definitely less significant than tiny pieces of glass falling out of my screen. HOWEVER, if your priority is the safety of your phone, well, I'm actually not sure which one is the better option.

    Thanks for your, " to the point " video! I went from hydrogel to tempered glass. It seems like every time I put a new tempered glass on, my cell would fall out of my lap and onto the ground getting out of vehicle and crack, splinter, etc....also, a couple if there was a fingerprint or smudge on it, it would actually cause issues with my cell lagging. I had thought about some that were advertised to be great BUT they were UV glue kind (thanks for the heads up on that). I do still worry about that one time where it lands just right to crack the lcd because like you said, the hydrogel just isn't as thick

    I like UV glass because if you have scratched screen the glue will fill all the scratches and it will look like a brand new phone. Also when applying the glass you need to tilt the phone and the glue will slowly flow to that direction, you just need patients. First time for me was very successful with this method. Also make sure you don't have dust on screen before applying it. To be honest I have UV glass and Hydrogel and my fingerprint still works good.

      All hydrogels are not the same. They come in different textures, like glossy, matte etc, but their thickness is same usually. It does not break from a regular fall, unless you phone drops on something sharp or pointed.

    uv glue glass protectors once properly applied, is hands down the best you can possibly use for a curve screen phone. literally has no downsides if you apply it correctly. does not have the issue with fingerprints as you described here, in fact is just as fast as bare screen. if you're having fingerprint scanning issues it's cause you've screwed up the application. I've used all three types on my p30 pro which is curve screen, and for the past 2 years I've exclusively used uv, after getting annoyed by the downsides of both hydrogel which is not smooth and peels off on the edges way too easily, and the glass ones with adhesive borders and hollow in the middle, which tend to just fall off in days to weeks, have poor fingerprint scanning, ridiculous glare, and traps dust underneath.

      Agreed. UV glue is the best. he did screw up the application process. prep work is most important. and the glue portion must be in the center of the phone and in sufficient quantity vs screen size. also to ready cotton buds in case additional glue seeps down. need a blower as used in DSLR to blow off remaining particles in the glue or surface as well before inserting the glass. never push the glass downwards. let the glue do its job. let it dry for 1 hour and not touch the phone.

      The only good UV tempered glass are from Whitestone dome and few other popular brands like spigen. They are ridiculously expensive ! Cheap UV tempered glass are not good. Because i used one and i had a hard time with the finger print reader. it's hit or miss ! And not to mention that I got air bubbles in that UV tempered glass with just more than 6 months. So i replaced it with a hydorgel one and yeah it has a rubbery feel to it but the finger print reader and touch sensitivity is smooth and seamless. Also the viewing experience and clarity is way better than the normal UV tempered glass. So i think the way to go is if you can't afford a high quality UV tempered glass from a reliable brand you can use a normal hydrogel film with a good protective case. Protective cases are not that expensive !

    Thanks , I got to know exactly what I wanted… never buy in display finger print scanner model phones. As you can use only hydrogel to protect the display which does not protect your phone display from drops and if screen cracks it will be expensive to replace in these high end models. Buy medium budget phones with side fingerprint scanner, use tempered glass, it’s cheap to replace with far superior protection and in spite of everything , if your phone display cracks then display will be cheaper to replace.
