@@trevorsheehan1757for real?!!! Holy shiiiiit I hope it’s animated by AnimalLogic (the same studio that animated Legend of The Guardians, Happy Feet and The Lego Movie)
I remember watching this for the first time when I was in Kindergarten. After watching this in school, I was so badly wanting to find this on DVD so I can watch it at home, but never got the chance.
Hell yeah very nostalgic. We had this on DVD and me and my siblings would watch it in the car during long drives. Aaaand that was a little before the 2008 recession, crazy times. Or maybe close to being around that time. A lot was going on back then, parents divorced and then crappy economy stuff.
Omg i used ro reas this to my son ...who is now 35! Now im reading it to my 6 year old grandson! My son and i recently went on a bat hike as well. This book started our obsession with bats ❤️
Thank you for re-awakening my childhood, this movie is such a guilty pleasure! It's one of my favorites from when I was an animal nerd, and it made me love bats
I used to love the book as a kid. And I think I saw the trailer for this movie on a dvd once. It feels great to be able to revisit my childhood like this ❤
It's weird that I never saw this movie as a child, considering when it came out. I was born in 2003, and had the book read to me by my mother and by a digital storybook when I was in preschool. And maybe it's this lack of connection with this specific adaptation that it disappoints me a lot more. I do like the animation, especially for Stella herself. She's very cute. The voice actors are all solid. The ending is sweet, and the opening ten minutes are probably the best part of the movie, including the hilariously ironic musical number. But oh boy, the rest of the movie is where it falls flat. We didn't need the spider or the macaws, especially the macaws when they're so inconsequential. Yes, Stella felt like a failure of a bird, but she had begun to see just how she could adapt from all this because she wasn't like a bird. If anything, what if she ended up meeting a fellow bat that helped her understand more of who she really is, earlier on? And this is not to mention how annoying these unnecessary characters really are. Oh yeah, and a third act argument? I get it's a kids movie; it's based on a children's book. It's why this is a musical, sort of. But the third act argument comes out of nowhere after the owl encounter, and worse, it's the birds who start it when *they* are at fault, not Stella. Yes, they're kids, but wheb they're supposed to be her family it comes off as uncharacteristically mean. And I dunno, I feel this movie didn't need those cartoon sound effects. I probably wouldn't have minded that much of this as a kid. But I'm an adult now, and I thought this was just going to be a cute, much more wholesome and not annoying movie.
