    Thank-you to all of you for your support. I'm glad you are enjoying my DVDs, CDs and books with Mel Bay Publications.
    More to come. Here are some answers to your questions.
    This pattern could be used on congas with a few modifications. However, I prefer to use the marcha or a Cha-Cha pattern when playing Bossa Nova on congas.

    Great to hear from all the bongoseros/bongoseras in Brasil-Obrigado! I was married to a Carioca once and have a son who speaks Portuguese fluently. I have a deep love for Brasil and the people, culture and food.
    The skin on the macho must be very tight to achieve a nice crisp sound. The lifespan will depend on many factors (thickness, material, tightness, attack etc.) I have used cow, calf, kangaroo and goat. Usually goat will break easiest, but all will break eventually. Replacement is very easy. See directions in "The Bongo Book"
    Always best to loosen the head after use.
    If anyone would like to see the notation of the Bossa Nova pattern see "The Bongo Book" or "School of Bongos" both published by Mel Bay Publications see www.trevorsalloum.com/publications/
    Enjoy the vids. More coming this year!

    The kind of bongos does make a difference. I use several LP
    models and JCR. You really need to crank the macho very high to get a good sound. It should almost sound as if glass is breaking.

    • @wearywilko
      @wearywilko 3 года назад

      It indeed does almost sound as high pitched as a muted edge tone
