Slowly We Rot - Live and Rotting & Cause of Death - Live Infection were filmed by Odd Life Studios and directed by Lief Thomason on HD video in October 2020. Recorded and mixed by long time producer Joe Cincotta, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, both live albums capture OBITUARY as one of Death Metal's most ripping and unrelenting bands!

It's amazing that John Tardy is actually sounding BETTER with age. You think his vocal cords would be pulled pork by now. Love this band!
It's funny. I thought the same with my brother. We started back in 86-87 and he sounded brutal. These days he sounds even better.

1989, one of the most important, heaviest, most incredible albums in Death Metal. I still listen to it today, it still rocks. Today's live version is pure power. Great all for this stream. Obituary forever 🤘💀🤘
You are not right, best old school Death metal album is Leprosy from 1988. PS i bought Slowly We Rot directly few weeks after release date.

the best thing to happend to Death Metal.. for me this was the beginning of a journey.
From the first second I heard this album way back in 1989 i was hooked. Obituary has been my favorite band since. I was 19 back then Dam time fly's when you are having fun.
This album was originally recorded on a 8 track porta studio....sounded best like that.
Nah I like them more live
They were the pioneers and they were never surpassed

No bad songs on this album, fucking heavy and awesome the whole way through.
This short - cut out scream at 4:45 though... Unique and full of rage! Obituary nails it! Fantastic choice of sound for all instruments, a great album.-
I am hearing a lot of volume drops in the vocals or parts missing. Strange… not sure what is going on with that.
Ordered both this and Live Infection on Bone White Vinyl. Cant wait til i can spin them when theyre released.

I miss the "RAT into JCM800" sound a little bit. The guitar sounds quite bright and modern here. I prefer the original, bass-heavy, fuzzy sound.
But the music is timeless, super-classic.

@@SirBoycie just hear difference between gigs early 90s and COD and TEC albums way different which sounds fluffy and muddy now
that's the tone you can hear on the left side, but the right side is kenny who has a more modern rig

I just bought this album from newbury comics last weekend. It was either this or cause of death which cost more. It was the only two good metal albums they had for CDs.

I think you need to reissue the CD!
The original CD has amazing sound quality. The remasters are all brickwalled. I'll stick with my 1989 first issue. However this live recording kicks major ass as well.

Not a fan of live stream shows with no crowd. If there was an option to buy just the cd, that would be cool.

@@urban8540 I know that, which is the reason for my comment, no amount of clean records + fast generic shredding chops is going to match up to Alan West's original Jimi Hendrix style guitar wizardry. Sorry if my rhetoric sounds silly and over the top but its a fact. Alan on his worst day would still sound more compelling than this guy at his best, of course it would be a bad business decision for Obituary today if they were to ship him out right now but musically it makes for a thrilling experience imo. Bands now place too much emphasis on meeting a set of global standards, and that is fine, they have careers to maintain. But musically its the total antithesis of rock n roll to begin with, people didnt f with lineups as much as they do now. Imagine replacing Jimmy Page just cause he was strung out lol My point being we all know what he is truly capable of. and where he is now would be certainly interesting to watch guitarwise, Idk about you but I just have a thing for players like him, Trey AZgthoth and Jimmy Page who I find interesting regardless of what state they're in, tight or sloppy,
