Not only Nihilus became a wound in the force. The Jedi Exile also became a wound in the force, but instead of embracing it like Nihilus, she cut herself off from the force, and the planet of Malachor V also became a wound

I’d never stopped to consider that what happened to Nihilus could theoretically happen again. Meaning a new Darth Nihilus could arise. The thought that under the right conditions, a new “Lord of Hunger” could come forth…that’s terrifying
I like the fact that Darth Nihilus' backstory is left ambiguous and open to interpretation. I would be inclined to believe that he was a citizen on the planet Malachor V whose family and close friends were killed by the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator. Unbeknownst to him he was force sensitive and it awoke inside him as a wound, causing him to need to feed on the force or life force of others around him, allowing him to temporarily satiate his growing hunger before it returned more ravenous than before. Force wounds of that magnitude were pretty rare in my limited knowledge of Star Wars mythology. I would not want Disney to explore this concept as they would more than likely make a mess of it, but it would be an interesting concept if it were to be revisited and done right. If they were to find Nihilus' mask even though it would be over 4,000 years old and he was able to return to some sort of corporeal form and wreak havoc on the galaxy again that could be a fascinating concept, but since Disney have the reigns it won't likely happen or if it did they would not do it justice.

For having such a strong connection to the land i imagine he felt the death of it ao deeply that he was forced to the darkside. In resentment of the force itself he then embarks on a quest to destroy it all for having been transformed into a monster for his love of his home
I dont know if Nihilus was actually a Sith. Based on your thought process he is merely a conscious manifestation of a terrible wound in the force. I propose that the concept is actually an entity. But it needs a host to move forth. To give it consciousness. I also believe as you say it cant really be destroyed. Therefore the entity Nihilus is eternal. You can only kill its current manifestation or host. Also there may be already another Nihilus or Nihilus's in the galaxy. They are just merely confined to a planet till some hapless traveler gives them a ride. That is METAL man. Thanks for you vid. You are awesome. Look forward to your next.
Now I do wonder what would've happened if a 2nd Nihilus appeared during the prequel or original trilogy eras. I think Palpatine would have to use the Death Start to slow him down.
Personally I think a strong point of the character of Dark Nihilus is that it doesn't matter who he was before the mass shadow generator went off on Malachor V. He is hunger personified, more akin to a force of nature than a person. There is nothing behind his mask. He only vaguely still have the shape of a person. Any personality traits he had before has been wiped away and only hunger for the force remains. More a ghost than a sith. The mystique and vagueness just adds to the curiosity and the fear of what he is.
One of the things that often gets me with Galac...Darth Nihilus is the perceived scale of his powers. Even as many might say "Through the Force, anything is possible", sometimes even the best, and strongest, then seem to struggle to do something, but here, we get some glimpses of the Force being used on a scale some might believe impossible. I have my own assumptions regarding Nihilus. I believe that his perception, having been blown up to allow him to feel the life of whole worlds, from massive distances away, left his personal senses stunted; you could stand right next to him, but if you weren't powerful in the Force, youd go mostly unnoticed, like a gnat, because the way he perceives is just too vast to borher with individuals, and long proximity to him will drain you more, so he'll be even less interested in your existence. I believe that the Ravager was mostly fragged; that Nihilus lifted it up, out of the gravity wake of Malachor V, and holds it together with the Force; that he holds in the atmosphere with the Force, and that, using his broadened senses, he flings it through Hyperspace with the Force, and obviously that means he does some of this simultaneously, which only makes his overall ability the greater. What we don't need to debate, though; what we know is fact, is that he can drain life from whole worlds, every person on it, and down to the microscopic level. Some people can move starfighters, or toss AT-ST chicken walkers, but it usually takes a Starkiller-level power to lug a capital ship around, or use any power on a worldwide scale, and Nihilus could do that. Especially impressive if he was a nobody, as he went from "who cares?" to Galactus, Devourer of Worlds, in a relatively short time, as the black hole within him craved evermore, and grew.
This is a good Halloween video, truly Nihilus is a terror amoung the galaxy. I’ll be honest. I’ve always wanted an origin story for him, but after seeing this, maybe it’s best that he remains unknown. Wonderful video.
Actually, Nihilus was the manifestation of the dark side half of the wound in the force. Could have been one of the other Jedi who was on Malachor V when Meetra Surick activated the Mass Shadow Device. When she became the "light" side version of the wound. But she cut herself off completely from the force. But she still felt the pain, etc. from that event, and even Nihilus when he consumed planets.
In a manner of speaking life is like a Nihilus - it needs more and more to sustain itself - as it grows it expands and it needs even more to sustain it - in a manner of speaking Nihilus was a representation of that. In essence he was a representation of that cycle - you need to feed so you feed but that feeding makes you grow and thus you need to feed even more to keep on living and growing thus ever expanding the scale of the cycle.
I take this theory as well. My headcannon: he was an unsung hero who rose up against the remaining ancient Sith species who still subjugate people on Malachor 5. He rose up and defeated them. Fell in love and had a son and daughter. But right when he thought he had his happy ending... insert Mass Shadow Generator.
I like that you pointed out that nihilis isnt even a sith. He is pure dark side to the point of unbalance. If he wasnt defeated it would be the end of the force. I love that kreias students werent meant to be sith but destroyers of the force itself
The most unsettling part is he hadn't even reached the zenith of his power. The Nihilus that lost to the exile could hypothetically lose to a handful of other top tier Sith Lords that could resist his force drain. However, Kreia mentioned that if Nihilus hadn't been stopped when he was, his power would grown beyond what even another wound in the force could counter (Presumably his force drain would've grown that much more potent) so a hypothetical full potential Nihilus who had devoured the entire galaxy of its force energies could very well have become a match, if not even surpassed history's mightiest force users. I won't go so far as to claim full potential Nihilus could match Abeloth, but he'd be a priority target if both were simultaneously active.
I always considered Nihilus to be a Wound given form and purpose, as if the Force was attempting to balance the overkill Revan's superweapon and Vitiate were attempting.
I like to think Nihilus was Zayne Carrick. It would be an utter tragedy. But in my opinion, Joruus Cbaoth's mind consuming ability was even more terrifying then even Nihilus. He started out as a control freak trying to dictate the lives and actions of those around him through fear and pain, but after Thrawn tempted him with more power, he began to explore other ways of control, eventually using the Force to dominate the minds of others. He made an Imperial Officer so dependent on him, that the moment he was cut off, the man died. He filled the Clone Luuke with his will, and intended to do the same with the clone army in Tantiss. And the worst part is he wasn't using some obscure power like Nihilus, he wasn't a wound in the Force or anything. Just a powerful, insane darksider with control freak tendencies. Imagine a more powerful Dark Lord with the same control freak desires of Joruus, but with the power of a Palpatine, or Vitiate. An utter nightmare.

I think the presence of a dark side nexus is crucial component of his creation. Had the first death star fired onto yavin 4 with its many temples that remember the days of exar kun a new nihilus might have emerged.
I look at Malgus, Revan, and Nihilus as what the player could become at the Malikor V. The player could be any of these choices. Balance, Fall, or entire annihilation. A Jedi, A Sith, A Solider, an Idea, an assassin.
I totally agree, the mystery surrounding Nihilus makes him pretty damn awesome. In a similar way that OT Boba Fett was one of the coolest characters ever.
Nihilus's origins seem familiar... in fact I believe his concept happened once before .. in the form of Abeloth!.. Abeloth was a nanny right?... and yet grew to be one of the most feared entities in Star Wars lore!
Nihilus came before Abeloth, so if anything Abeloths story is copied from Nihilus, while i agree they are similar, there is some changes, Abeloth is mad and wants to change the mortal world into her twisted madness image believing it will restore her family. Nihilus will simply consume the galaxy and everything in it until he is alone, and eventually he will fade as his hunger will start to consume himself and emptiness is all that remains.
This is so sad. Very tragic. He was just a man. Terrible. I Nihlius was born from destruction from Alderaan.. I don't want to think about it. May the Force be with you too😊
As we mostly agree, the writing in this era of star wars is suffering. I actually was unfamiliar with Nihilus. But this video has sparked my imagination...... I may have a writing project to undertake. I'm going to have to do some studying on Nihilus and the Death Troopers. Hmmmmmmmmmm
This is crazy I was just commenting on theory earlier. He was talking about Leslie backtracking and how she just used a vingince and how they could create life. I mentioned how one of the most powerful sith to ever live. He consumed worlds force energy. He couldn't even create life
It's just like with the Joker or the Doom Slayer. What made these characters so iconic was because they are essentially nameless with given explanations into their backgrounds. It was what they became what mattered. Like Nihilus, they could've been ANYONE. 5:11
Nihilus is and has always been my favorite Sith. I agree and disagree with you with regards to his human form being a nobody, with the wound in the force being what gives him significance. Besides this human being force sensitive, there must have been something particular about the immensity in his suffering that caused the wound to choose him. As you say, it could have been, or could be anyone, but it wasn't. It was the particular human. However, I absolutely love the idea of and agree with him being a concept. This could absolutely be a false memory, but I recall somewhere in KOTOR 2 hinting at the idea of his spirit being contained in the mask, alluding to his "immortality" so to speak. If he were to be brought back, I'd love to get a sneak peek about how and why the wound chose the being they bonded to. Let's just hope that if it were to happen, Disney isn't handling it..
A space communist lesbian would fit right into legends SW. Disney's sin would be that he would be a badly written and ham-fisted space communist lesbian.
My question would be now with the sequel trilogy, the Starkiller base decimated the new republic plsnets and i daresay prolly more people died in all those planets being destroyed, is disney smart enough to recreate the wound concept with all that death? Prolly not

I love this idea
All you have to do is just put on his mask and he will come back
So who thinks that Nihilus secundus would have the memories or Nihilus the first via the cosmic force?
This video was way longer than it really needed to be.
This is so sad. Very tragic. He was just a man. Terrible. I Nihlius was born from destruction from Alderaan.. I don't want to think about it. May the Force be with you too😊
Hey could you also talk about The Exile at some point i think it would be a interesting subject to get into
As we mostly agree, the writing in this era of star wars is suffering.
He couldn't even create life
He could be in this very room, he could be you, he could be me
Darth Nihilus and Starkiller are the 2 greatest characters in SW history. Nihilus' story is just fascinating and unique.
Let's just hope that if it were to happen, Disney isn't handling it..
my fav character in star wars universe
Hey, can you please please please do a video on c-21 highsinger. There’s not much out there about him but he’s too cool to not do a video of.
Nihilus vs Valkorion. 🤔
Who's with me? 🤪
I just hope Disney doesn’t try to “recreate nihilius” they would probably change him in a space communist lesbian
A space communist lesbian would fit right into legends SW. Disney's sin would be that he would be a badly written and ham-fisted space communist lesbian.
💀
The Exile: 👀
When are you going to do videos on how powerful was anakin solo kyp durrun and krueller???
My question would be now with the sequel trilogy, the Starkiller base decimated the new republic plsnets and i daresay prolly more people died in all those planets being destroyed, is disney smart enough to recreate the wound concept with all that death? Prolly not
Hmm I wonder how Nihilus would far against a "Force God" like, say, Abeloth.
Had to watch this video twice back to back this shit 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just imagine how terrifying would it be if multiple copies of him were made when the star killer base was made.
Nihilus is my favorite Sith Lord!
That was why the jedi council tries to cut the exiled from the force if do you a lightside playthrouth
What’s the background music you use for your video it’s great!
What happens when you walk the path of apathy
IT IS NOT THE WAY.
@@chasehedges6775 neither is putting false hope through nostalgia, but Disney does it.
@@AncestorEmpire1 Modern Disney knows no bounds
@@chasehedges6775 and yet they’re not making jokes about what happened in Butler, Pennsylvania……
@@AncestorEmpire1 Yeah..
He could be you,he could be me,he could even be...
Such a cool looking villain
