I cant help but think that the human campaign was inspired by Great northern war. I could find many pieces that look very similar like the war. 1. Arthas represent King Charles the XII who battle the orcs that represent Danish. He then focus his battle against the scourge that represent the russia. What scourge and the russia have in common is an unlimited manpower. 2. Arthas is this charismatic, and fearless warrior who lead his troops into battle just like Charles the XII. The king and Prince arthas were both stubborn who rarely listened to advice, and would rather solve there own problem. Both of the character"s was extremely determined to defeat there foes. 3. Uther the lightbringer that represent Carl Gustav Rehnskiöld. Uther was Arthas mentor, and Carl Gustav Rehnskiöld was Charles the XII mentor. 4. Dreadlord Mal´ganis that represent Peter the Great. The dreadlord raided most of lordaeron, similar like how tsar peter raided most of the Swedish territory. Mal´ganis lure Arthar deeper into Northrend that represent russian"s territory. The landscape look as cold and chilling just like the russian winter. There"s similarity with tsar Peter who lure Charles the XII into his territory and allow the nature take the toll of his army. 5. Muardin bronzbeard that represent the sultan from the Ottoman empire. They ally together to fight of the Scourge that again represent the russian army. Muradin grow tired and concern over Arthas stubborness, similar like how the Sultan grow tired of Charles the XII stubborness, and his eagerness to defeat Peter the great. 6. Arthas abandon his troops after his battle against Mal´ganis, similar how Charles the XII abandon his troops after his defeat against the Russia during the battle of Poltava. 7. Then we have the high elf, that represent Finland. High elf was ally with the human, but the diffrent is that Finland was part of Sweden. The way the scourge destroyed the high elf city and killed 90% of the population, was similar how the russian invaded finland during the great northern war and killed 50% of the population. Tragic, and my condolence As you can see i could find plenty of similarity between the whole human campaign in warcraft 3 and compare it with the great northern war.
