Big thanks for all these videos. Been so frustrated trying to find good photoshop painting tutorials, as most on youtube are either time-lapse videos where they explain nothing, or someone who spends 40 minutes trying to figure out where the tools are themselves. Can't thank you enough for these, so concise and keeps things simple but effective. MUCHO LOVEO!
This video was EXTREMELY helpful. I'm following a tutorial where the artist was working with acrylics on canvas and I was going to do it in photoshop, and could not make the blending look right. It doesn't look like acrylic but it looks so much better than it did after I took this advice, thank you so much! (Five years later too, woah).
Thank you so much there has been so many videos on how to blend using the smudge tool, but they would never tell me their brush settings but you did, thank you.
+Esorydal You might try increasing the spacing or increasing the hardness of your blending brush. Other than that, I've found that there isn't much you can do to combat the lag.
Dude you're 4 years too late where were you!! I've only now begun using the tool ever since everyone else was using it cause you told me to not use it jk no hard feelings but it's true tho... I did get a lot better at value painting because of it
Thanks for showing us how to make the smudge tool actually useful to a painter.

What would be the benefit of using this over blending with the paint brush?
