    To all the people here with the negative comments... I was there during the filming of this.... Richie was simply using his typical Richie humor... it was a joke. The camera guy and the interviewer were both laughing (you can barely hear them as they were trying to be quiet since they were filming). Seriously,... go to Richie Kotzen's Official RUclips Channel and you'll see he has an wicked sense of humor.

    In other words, if your guitar also doubles as a bow tie, or your skateboard knee protectors, Ritchie isn't going to give you the benefit of the doubt. "Chooch" what a great word, I love it!

    I watched 4 of this Rig Tour with Richie. I like him, he is a down to earth guy. And i like his Simple Rig's. I know just a few more they play like him (without a Spaceship of Pedals)
    me included!
    I have an Engl Artist and a Delay. It's all you need. Like he said, all you need is an Amp that sounds good to you 🤘🏼😎

  • @Cigmcpuffy

    Pretty funny his comment about how high one wears their guitar. When I first started playing, my heroes were players who wore their guitars slung low (Slash, Zakk Wylde, etc.), and I emulated that. All was fine for a few years, but then I started to develop pain in my right wrist because my hand was held at a constant angle. I now wear my guitar about the same height as Kotzen, which is a more natural position for my picking hand, and all is well.

    long live to kotzen!

  • @MrCecilbag

    Basically it's just how you see it, you pull back on the tuner and it just releases enough tension to make your low E string become a D. You just push it back towards the other tuners and you're back at an E again. I know you can get this tuner, I don't remember who made it but google it and you'll be set.

  • @Mojokiss

    you can tap with an external pedal with that zoom pedal for the delay speed. Thats how i use it and its wonderful

    underated is the word for Kotzen, he played for poison for a short time and kinda messed out on his solo career,not to mention nobody takes poison seriously musicaly, but he is one of the better guys to come out of the big shred thing ,I really like the fact that the tone you hear is his guitar and his fingers he should be uberfamous

  • @rmzzz76
    @rmzzz76 10 лет назад

    Digging that signature Tele... Richie you have a signature amp and "unfortunately it's not with me" damn. Ok, that's crazy... If I had a signature amp and on tour it would be kind of with me all the time....Many famous guitarist get signature guitars, very few get signature amps. Listen to his new band with Mike Portnoy on drums, it rocks and he has an awesome voice too.

    Nuno Bettencourt, Paul Gilbert, Steve Stevens, Zakk Wylde: these are just a few names of guitar virtuosos who have their guitar below their belly.
    It's not about height, it's about how everyone feels more comfortable.

    Never heard of this guy before, he plays pretty well though! I like his setup too. Love the gold hardware on the Tele. Nice and simple rig! Funny about the getting on one knee thing too. When I play with a strap I always have to bring the guitar higher up to do something crazy. Haha

    Kotzen is one of the rare shredders who came to realize that shredding , tricks, & the "I'm faster game" is shit . Kotzen is the rarity who discovered music after he learned how to play .

  • @stevegrierson
    @stevegrierson 13 лет назад

    Quite naturally funny, suprised me

  • @TheDrumminMan08
    @TheDrumminMan08 14 лет назад

    It can, but the more important thing is that it would be impossible to do any form of leads and your wrist would always be at a profound curve-- that's REALLY bad, you can injure your wrist or give yourself carpal tunnel if your wrist is bent all the time.

  • @achaarpickler
    @achaarpickler 13 лет назад

    @C861986 That 'high' position will be easier on your fretting hand but your picking gets compromised a lot. I used to hold it high earlier, but now i hold it lower. When it it gets tough, i just put my left foot over something and prop my guitar over that foot (or you can also do what ritchie suggests)..............

  • @Barracuda007
    @Barracuda007 12 лет назад

    their called hipshot d tuner, they work well man! got one on my strat

  • @TheDrumminMan08
    @TheDrumminMan08 14 лет назад

    No, I mean, try playing a wide intervallic stretch on the lower strings like a minor third between each note. Your wrist is bent almost like a 90 degree angle-- that's terrible for it over prolonged periods of time.

  • @anamethat

    Which is the main point, musical technique, not to mention there are a lot of guitarists who wear their guitars high, and don't look silly at all IMO.

  • @RicardoDiazHimself
    @RicardoDiazHimself 14 лет назад

    actually when i see someone with the guitar Really high, the first thing i think is that he is a technical player and that he must be good...if he is good or not...that shows when he starts playing...but i wouldnt walk away
    but anyway ...i always loved how richie plays

  • @lukegunnlee1988
    @lukegunnlee1988 14 лет назад

    rusty cooley and john petrucci play high. it just makes sense to play higher so you can get to all the notes. i dont understand why youd rather get on the floor in the middle of a show.

    Holdsworth is in the "chooch" category guitar-height wise and I'm fairly certain Ritchie would gladly reach into his own wallet to see Alan play but nonetheless, great guy, cool sense of humor (obviously on display here).

    @pfarina Trust me, he knows Govan; he's played with me before and is playing with him this weekend. I think Richie's kinda goofin' around at this point ;) But IMO, he can play it however he wants because the boy really CAN let all hell break loose!

    Anyone who uses proper technique curves their wrist while playing dude. The way to prevent Tendinitis is to do stretches and exercises.
    and @ JerkyChild, Like any of the other guitarists I mentioned.
