In Amsterdam, amidst the hum of city life, lies a sanctuary of serenity and natural beauty - the Amsterdam Forest (Amsterdamse Bos). Stretching over hectares, this man-made woodland offers locals and tourists alike an escape from the urban hustle. Among its rich offerings of flora and fauna, there's a special corner that blossoms into a poetic vision each spring: the cherry blossom grove.
This grove was gifted by the Japanese Women's Club to the city of Amsterdam in 2000, symbolizing the growing friendship and cultural bridges between Japan and the Netherlands. Consisting of around 400 cherry trees, each tree in the grove has a name - 200 are named after Japanese women, and the other 200 after Dutch women.
