  • As Eulish Moore lay in a hospital bed dying of heart failure, his wife refused to give up. Her online research pointed her to one last hope: the left ventricular assist device (LVAD) program at The Nebraska Medical Center. She requested Eulish's hospital transfer him to the med center. Med center heart failure specialists immediately began treating Eulish. He first received an LVAD to help his failing heart recover. He was then listed for a heart transplant. In August of 2011, the call came that a donor heart was available.
A short time after his successful transplant, Eulish began volunteering at the hospital; speaking with patients who were considering and LVAD or who have just had LVAD or transplant surgery. He believes it's important to get the most out of life by giving back to others.
