In Legacy, I believe Liu Kang wanted to live a normal life, and he ended meeting a woman who he feel in love, but she died thanks to some burglars. This caused him to break down and become a shell of his former self, and even turn to becoming increasingly violent
It's crazy how the selfishness of others who kill. , Can create a monster.. an can change a human being into something fearful. This goes to show the saying Respect.. or treat others how you want to be treated is crucial. Because you may just make the next John wick or somethin.. if you don't
Just realized Liu was crying after he punched Kung Lao and looked into his eyes. In the game, Liu is the older sibling but in this show and the movie, Kung Lao is like the older cousin/brother, and Liu is like the younger sibling who wants to prove himself or find guidance from Lao. There’s still good in this version of Liu, wish they would’ve fleshed this story out more
@@hottrin6103 Distant cousins bc both are related to The Great Kung Lao. I don’t think it really matters bc they are always close like brothers in every depiction
4:37. This moment, this 5 second segment accompanied by this little instrumental addition is pure perfection. I can't get over how deeply emotionally engaging this bit is for me.
MK Legacy put some complexities in Liu Kang's character, from being Earthrealm's champion to a disillusioned wanderer who started to work for his arch nemesis, Shang Tsung
Don't know what everyone's problem is with this storyline. If you ever watched the first movie in the 90s, Liu Kang abandoned the White Lotus clan and left for America after the death of his brother. He was also on a quest for revenge. Legacy follows the same route. Liu Kang abandoned the Shaolin just the same but not out of guilt, he left for a woman and tried to live a normal life. In both versions, he lived a life of self-loathing and hated who he was. Legacy was a more darker approach. Personally, what they should've changed was giving Liu Kang's story to Kung Lao since they retconned him into being very jealous and arrogant compared to the latter.
2:33 This part of Kung Lao looked so much like his victory pose from Mortal Kombat 2 the game. The gesture on his hand running across his hat to him tilting his head down for that mysterious pose. Mark Dacasco would've made a great Kung Lao in the 2021 version. I get it, he's getting old, but he can still make fighting look good in a movie.
why do they keep disrespecting Liu Kang? dude got turned into a zombie in the OT and (up until the end of Aftermath) was fated to be killed by Raiden in every timeline, and here he's homeless. Mans can never catch a break
Nah, you've never invested yourself in his story if you're saying that. The guy went from being earth's chosen one to a stumbling zombie who didn't get to make peace with himself

Way better than the 2021 movie Liu Kang. He acted like he got high off his own fecal matter.
