This is Kung Lao. Not the self-righteous second banana in MK11. A true warrior monk, who fights for peace and harmony. Who shows discipline at the right moment. And who was forced to fight against his old friend when he lost his way. This series was ahead of it’s time. I wish it would’ve continued.
This was from a web series in 2013 called MK Legacy. A few years after the releases of MK VS DC and MK9. So technically, this came out during the Netherealm Studios era, not Midway. Plus the director wanted to put his own spin on things.
@@dragonator68 Not late, just not a fan of the story series. It's annoying how they jumble up or back track the story, I think it's better off if they make it a full cheap B-grade action Ninja story have Scorpion & Sub-zero as the main while Lui Kang & others are the sub.
@@Ming1975 to be honest I'm kind of tired of everything in mortal Kombat being around scorpion and subzero. In the story of mortal Kombat is about Liu Kang in the Shaolin monks primarily I would love to see a story that focuses more on that and definitely how they see Liu Kang being worthy to actually fight shao Kahn the big bad of the entire series. Sub-Zero and scorpion are cool but at this point they're overused and they seem to get more development than the other characters.
Why is it that this and the new movie get these two mixed up completely? It’s not rocket science. Liu kang is the chosen one and the good one that doesn’t question raiden he makes the right choices etc. While kung Lao is the one who is struggling and questioning shit and also is envious of Liu Kang for being the champion chosen one etc. This is cool just seeing a different take with a struggling Liu kang but it’s frustrating how this and the new movie get these two completely wrong.
Kung Lao being the brash one is his *worse* counterpart. NRS changed everything first, not just the movies. In Midway, Kung Lao was the stable one. In NRS, Liu Kang was the brash one, even in the old MK movies. So no, this is not new.
Also, Kung Lao was the 1st to be chosen to represent Earthrealm but opted out. That's when Liu Kang was given the oppurtunity to step in. They were equal in skill in the O.G timeline.
@@OfficerDoofyInTown And his reasons are sympathetic. You can’t help but feel sorry for what’s he’s been through because of the cruelties of the scumbags and a**holes of humanity.

If you want sympathy from Kung Lao, *always* wear your headband, Liu Kang. 🙃
This is probably the closest we would get to a Midway Kung Lao.
Edit: Also Mortal Kombat (2021) Kung Lao.
True
Wait, isn't it because of his "hat"? I thought Kung Lao was the rebellious one and Liu Kang was the stable one?
Nope Kung Lao was Stable in Midway Mortal Kombat NRS screwed him over.

Look up MORTAL Kombat Legacy and find out how late you are. Then go replay the MK9 Story Mode and tell us if Liu Kang "remained stable." Lol

Not so much “abandon,” as “force him to take responsibility.”
Mark Dacasco ❤❤❤ my favorite action actor.
I remember him since double dragon
I'm getting hard core Jedi vibes of detachment from this.

Naw this is how the og went. Kung Lao was always the calm one and liu kang was the hot head. They changed it in mk9-11

Why was the new movie complete opposite of this !!!! No effort into characters script drama emotions philosophies - just absolute crap
Please next scen
