She looks like my baby love. I name my little girl KlingOn because she is either on my lap or by my side. From 11/21-8/22, I lived in my Jeep for 9 months traveling from FL to CA. My family and friends found out and pressured me into getting an apt. Well, I don't want to keep paying $15K/year for rent. So I'm wanting to find a Box Truck or Cargo Van with no windows to travel 100% Stealth. But I have a cat, but I'm not sure how to create a CATIO to keep her cool in the summers, while I'm away for 1 or 2 hours. If I get a Box Truck, I will be able to hide an A/C unit above the cab with a Wind Deflector like the 18 wheelers have, then I can create a craw space there. But if I get a Cargo Van, I was thinking of creating a small opening in the floor that leads down into a cage, so that she is Covered, Hidden, Protected, and has a 4way Cross Breeze.
Box truck will also allow for more solar to power consistent A/C and provide more comfort, but then you can be limited by size. A van is more versatile but less options and space with the little one. But you sound like you are really thinking it through and I am sure the cat will be happy wherever as long as they are with you!
Awww.. I am about to be living in my chevy equinox with my cat in a couple of days after losing my house of 6 years and i was so panicked about how he would transition to it. This made me feel a lot better 💯♥️😌
It's better your cat stays with you regardless. Many people give them away not knowing it hurts them to loose their whole life. It's not where you live that matters. It's you they want to be with with.❤
Seconding Theomartin's reply, I take solace in knowing that whatever I may lose, Ami is always going to be by my side, and if things get really desperate she will bring me mice. d:
@@seandevlin3948 I'm the same way. My girl 😻 LUNA will stay with me, even if we have to go stay in the car because rent is just too high. I will not give her up without a fight.
Honey is beautiful! We have three cats - and your video has inspired us, during our unintended homelessness, that it IS possible to take care of our therapy pets and animals in a car.
This is wonderful! I have been anxious about living in our rover next few months and I mean I can deal with changes but I’m really worried about my cat but it seems like a bunch of ppl do do it, i will be with her all the time so honestly after watching and reading the comments it’s put my mind at ease, u can do it we can do it thanks!
But since I have elderly dogs maybe when they die I'll bring my cat with me on the road. You don't even have to get out of the car to take a cat to the bathroom that's really good. The way I do it with my dogs, if I'm going to sleep at Walmart......... I would take my dogs to the bathroom in some other place before I get to Walmart, so that way I don't have to get out of the car and nobody's going to know it's a solo female traveling.
Real Q's: -What do you do with your cat if ya need to get work done on your vehicle? Airbnb maybe? lol -Do you go on dates/hang with people with your cat or leave her in the car? haha it's so unconventional I love it my man
I did all the work on the vehicle myself. So I just opened the doors and she roamed around. And unfortunately not many people wanted to go on a date with the guy who lived in his jeep with his cat. So was never much of a concern. XD
I want to know where does he park his jeep every day and night because I learned that you can sleep a night at Walmart parking lot and some other stores if you get permission from the manager but only one night. I wish I could live that way because I don't make much money and paying rent is always too much unless you go live in a poor city with lots of bad people and crime
Some stores let you, some don’t. I tend to stay away from stores due to security. I usually park in residential areas or near apartments with other vehicles. I blend in, less crime, less interruptions.
Lol I live in my jeep....im in a Wal-Mart parking lot right now. It totally depends on where you live and which ones you go to. Some stores will run you off but that's few. The one I am currently living at has no restrictions and I stay here nightly
how do you prevent your cat from scratching the seats? thats my only doubt with living with my cat in my jeep...ive let her scratch up old couches and not care but a new jeep would not be ok lol
I live in the PNW so even on the hottest summer days in my area, it was only around 80F. Check temperatures inside the vehicle it got to around 85. At some point I got a fan for her but she didn't like it so we just stopped using it. On a road trip I found her limit was about 95F, that's when she would pant and whine to me. So I just always stayed in places under 90ish.
This video is too old now probably but she might be easier with a harness. It's more comfortable to them rather than the collar & the leash and you can get them quite reasonably priced😊
This is great I used to live in a jeep like that and it was not that packed with stuff....i live in a 4 door wrangler right now and I have been debating getting a cat. I might just hold off on that though. I wish the best to ya mate. It's always cool to meet people that choose to live in jeeps that are not strung out on drugs or anything like that. Also if you're ever down to get a soft top jeep I sleep in a hammock inside of mine. That's where I'm at as I'm writing this lol. Super comfy. I feel like your jeep is so cramped. Maybe try getting a storage unit. I have one with my motorcycle and other toys like my surf board and such and it works great for having more space in our limiting homes. Just a thought.
I am about to be living in my car with my cat baby. What's your advice about me having to go into work and what to do with him? I'm scared to death on what to do.
It ultimately depends on the cat. I trained Ami to not scratch anything and she doesn’t destroy anything. Then it’s insuring the vehicle doesn’t get too hot. In Washington it never gets too hot so it was never above 90F in the jeep. But I had the leisure battery installed and usually had a fan running in there for her to stay cool. There are however unfortunately some conditions and situations where you may not be able to keep a pet in there.
I'm in the same situation, but I will never leave my cat alone in a car for fear of it being stolen with her in it. I want to buy a backpack that I can smuggle her in places with me. Anyone have any suggestions
She always rips around without a leash. Her and I have built a strong relationship over the years so I have no fears that she will wander off, she always sticks near by and comes with called. (:
@@shellyperez6707 She knows to follow when one is on but she isn’t a fan so I don’t do it anymore. I do my best to respect what she is comfortable with and seems to pay off with trust and desire to stick close.
I was just curious about this. I have a regular small Nissan though and my cat is leash trained..so if this were to ever happen..I think I could make it work. Recession is next year I hear so I’m preparing for the worst
Adorable kitty! Im wanting to live in my car full time, but I live in an area where it gets really hot in the summer so I can't leave my kitty in my car all day while I work. So I'm curious if you work what do you do with your kitty while you are working?
They have day care for cats it’s $15 a day though Im thinking about living in my Jeep I have a cat as well I’m tryna plan everything out the best way I can the costing is ridiculous idk when I’ll be able to get my fist apartment
Thanks for sharing this! I am considering this situation for awhile, but I was concerned about how my 2 cats would work out. I think my Jeep is a little bigger, so I feel much less anxious after seeing how fluidly you make it work!
Rebecca Church Bodell I have all the windows open to a certain degree. This has always kept it within a few degrees of ambient temperature. On the hottest days I just put a fan in one of the windows but Ami will usually opt to not sit in front of it. If it’s too hot she will pant which she has only done once in Utah in the van, for that we just drove around with the AC on till nightfall. All was well. (:
If it is cold how do you leave your cat? I have a kitten and going to be doing this lifestyle soon! It’s been my dream!! She’s 6 months old so should adjust easy, but how do you leave her w/out like suffocating or getting cold ?
Insulation is usually the key. The headliner was thick enough to keep quite a bit of heat in on cold nights and out during the hot days. Ami has slept under blankets previously but even down to about 25 degrees outdoors she never shivered and only slept under blankets one night. Block the windows with some insulating material and you should be fine. If you are in a jeep moisture will be the trouble on cold nights. Crack the windows to let moisture out because it will build up inside decreasing temperatures and possibly growing mold. If you are in a van a roof mounted fan is recommended. And just know your animal. Ami likes it colder. Anything above 70 and she is looking for a way to cool down (during summer jeep interior was around 80 when 100 outside). 45-70 and she is fine Below 45 she stays on the bed except to come down for food or litter. Kittens will want warmer environments, their smaller bodies and smaller fat reserves make them a little more vulnerable to the cold. Can also try sweaters but you'll have to start young to make sure they are used to it which will keep their core temp up but they get the most discomfort from their paws on hot or cold surfaces.
I've tried so many litters in the past 5 years in the one that I find works best reg smell and clumping is Special Kitty and it's very cheap.

Mine has always been really well behaved. I just let her out often and she always ran her claws along the pavement or rock.
I'm about to be homeless come July 1st and I own a jeep! This is the exact video I need. Except I have of them.
