Any idea how to import something like this into Unreal? I love the method you have described but when I try and import it as fbx I end up with several different static meshes. Also thank you.
@@navi2710 of course this will only work within Blender. In UE there is already a workflow for billboard foliage: ruclips.net/video/1BfZSfX6_Go/видео.htmlsi=C1UjuhJGEZfsaS80 ruclips.net/video/iASMFba7GeI/видео.htmlsi=1yYwkvyQu-525c8L
I think I've watched over 300 blender tutorials + - and my friend has watched even more , and we both agree this is hands down the best format for blender tutorials . Keep up the amazing work , you are valued !!!!!
An indepth tutorial on large grass landscapes and/or general NPR material tips and tricks would be amazing from you. Years ago I was struggling to find resources on Vertex Normal Transfering for trees in Blender. Your explanation was clar and very helpful. Keep up the good work ❤
For me I think the transferring normal was not that hard to find guide. The hardest part is to find quadmesh to billboard pipeline guide in blender, which is basically none.
Nice tut!! For C4D users, no need for geometry nodes to make the plane face the camera, just convert it to polygon object, rotate the Z axis to face up, drop a target tag on it and drop the camera in the target object, now you can animate position and rotation of the camera and that plane will always face it. Thank ya!!
This is my first time watching your video but can't even explain how wonderful you are big teachers your video is one in a million I swear more than 100000 of youtuber keep your work ❤
I'm still new to blender. And when I see someone on reddit made such beautiful foliage like this, I wanted to learn how to do it so bad. This video tutorials help me studied it and teaching step by step really helps very much!!
Oh, Boe, the grass tutorial will really be appreciated. Because atm I'm trying to adapt tree foliage to grass but strugling mostly with colors and shading. In any case, many thanks for this tutorial.
I'm working on the grass tutorial, hopefully will complete it in 2 weeks. FYI, this foliage workflow can also work in grass but you need to do some tinkering in the color.
You my man, are something else.. Subbed ! Your tutorial was soo pleasing to watch, and soo easy to follow.. Pls keep making more like this, you're going to be a big RUclipsr someday
Thank you so much, this looks very good. I've just subscribed. I hope you continue to do these helpful videos and maybe even this anime style for unreal engine. You have very good content
Hey this looks amazing! You got a new sub :) I would love to see your approach for other objects in nature such as flowers, grass, rocks, sand, hills etc
I saw that you asked a question. If you're still interested then Small Wind Speed/Strength/Scale is how I called the attributes that mimic leaves movement. Large ones mimic the branches movement. Maybe that is misleading a little bit.
I feel like the leaves are too sharp for anime, any way I can fix that? Other than that this was one of the best blender tutorial I've seen in my life.
The workaround for that is you have to use blended alpha so you can get the most out of your alpha texture. Right now I'm struggle with the sorting order when switching to blended. I guess I have to figure that out in the future.
Amazing tutorial, would love to see how you'd export this into UE5... I'm not sure if you can transfer blender node graph properties or if you have to rebuild the shader in UE.
Idk, when I add the particle instance modifier to the foliage, the particle system I created for the emitter is not showing up in partcle systems list. Also, when I select the particle system in the particle instance modifier, it seems to be emitted from the foliage itself rather than the emitter. I not sure what to do differently. I've added the particle system to the emitter object and added the particle instance modifer to the foliage. I'm a bit new to blender so I'm not quite sure how to trouble shoot this.
sorry for that misleading info. the field for all the speed, intensity, value is just a "value" node. They are basically numbers. I just renamed them to "speed", "intensity" and "value"
They removed it, Auto Smooth in 4.x is now a modifier. Basically if you're using 4.x you don't have to worry about that step when you transfer normal. it would still work just fine.
Hi, in step 4 where we apply the geometry node, i cannot find the "blend mode" and "shadow mode" so I'm unable to apply alpha clip to both, what should I do?
I assume you're on Blender 4.x then? My tutorial is on Blender 3.6, so it's kinda outdated. On your version you just need to plug the alpha texture into the material alpha slot and then check the "Transparent Shadow" checkbox.
This node simulates the movement of leaves on a tree. I want to apply the same node to the branches of the tree, but the node affects the entire tree. I selected only the branches using Vertex Paint and now want to tell the node to act on this vertex group. I roughly understood that this needs to be done through the Name attribute, but where do I plug it in?
You can watch this, I did something silimar to the grass on the ground where I limited the movement of the grass root: ruclips.net/user/liveOTR-_odDtOo?si=CURsYq-H95262UjI&t=4564
