Whenever I buy a new Hi-Fi unit such as an amplifier, record deck, cd player , speakers or headphones this is one of my go to tracks to test them out. A pure classic which has always filled me with joy.
Yessssssssssssssssssssss!!!!! You really took me way back with this one. I used to love this song. They used to play it at one particular bar during the breaks when the DJ would take over for 20 minutes. I love this one. Thank you for taking me back. PS..... love the hair by the way🥰🥰🥰🥰
It was. It was their follow up hit in winter 1983, peaked at #30 on the US pop chart. I remember it on a KTel album commercial when KTel made albums of current hits and advertised on TV a lot. They had a 3rd US top 40 hit with Wishing if I had a photograph of you, peaking at #26. Sure aren't a 1 hit wonder.
In the airport scene of The Wedding Singer, the tix agent had this haircut. I believe the singer was a hairdresser before starting the band. It’s such a great song.
Flock of Seagulls made such great new wave/techno music. Songs that have such incredible sounds and lyrics that back then sounded so futuristic but still land today. More songs - "The More You Live, The More You Love", "Wishing" "Telecommunication" and the hit "I Ran". You will see them poke fun of this bands hair in the Adam Sandler movie - "The Wedding Singer" where the airport employee is checking them in.
- Modern Love Is Automatic - I Ran (So Far Away) - The More You Live, The More You Love (Extended Version) - Wishing (I Had A Photograph Of You) - Living In Heaven
This is a great 80's tune.. Flock's biggest tune is def "I Ran", BUT my fave is a tune called "Wishing".. Tidbit time, new guitar player is Gord Deppe from another top notch 80's band "Spoons". Check out 'Romantic Traffic".. Too many "loved ones" to remember, 80's were epic!!
ACE ventura Pet Detective had a similar hairdo, but this was kind of the post punk electronic, goth style in the early 80s. Skaters had like a half version of this in the later 80s.
I was 10 years old without a girlfriend yet. I went to 2 roller rinks in 1983. Roller rinks were dying years after disco died. See it's like then they weren't roller discos anymore.
i saw them live at their debuts in December 81 in London, at the Marquee, with other pre pro groups, and bought hteir 1st album then the 2 others. Singer and drummer are bros, they created the group. Strange haircut? The singer was justly haircutter before... ;) One of the classical new wave groups of the 80s, with inspiring songs, and they are still live nowadays and doing many concerts
I love that hairstyle so much that I recreated it. However, since I was poor, I couldn't afford the hairspray so my dumbass used Vaseline and it worked. However, it took several washings before I could get it all out. But hey, that was a kid

I 100% agree with the person that recommended this song. I think this is the best FOS song.

One of the best New Wave songs in the 80’s that came around.
I used to go to the Roller Rink back when this song was on Mtv and I ALWAYS REQUESTED them. Those were awesome days.
One of my top favorite 80’s songs.
Paul Reynolds was a very underrated guitarist. He had a very unique echo sound that made Flock of Seagulls different from the other New Wave bands.
Totally agree!!!

Oh, I love "Wishing"!
My loved 9ne was the guy who I married in the late 80s, and we're still together.
ACE ventura Pet Detective had a similar hairdo, but this was kind of the post punk electronic, goth style in the early 80s. Skaters had like a half version of this in the later 80s.
Im 29, and i grew up listening to the 80s. The new wave genre is best, in my opinion.
Damn great minds and all
BTW the guitarist was only 14 when they made this album. He would rewire his guitars to get that sound.
No, he was around 17-20 years back then.
😂😂can help think of Eddy Murphy's Raw, he nailed the 80s white people dancing to a tee.
Can't wait for my reactions

Are you thinking of Will Ferrell’s hair in Zoolander?
The lead singer and drummer are brothers
I was about 8 or 9 years old when this song was in rotation. So, there wasn't anyone special.
