    one of the most vivid aviation memories I have as a child is the sound an airliner makes just after it lifts off...you get this thunder/high wind-like whooshing that wasn't there during the takeoff roll...is that the sound of the engines echoing off the landscape as it climbs? I never could figure that out as a child and still can't haha...and I nearly have a ppl

    I remember when jet engines sounded that way and you sunk back into your seat 2 inches. That power felt different than today. Granted I was just a child and couldn't handle 1g

    This airplane has been well cared for. The airlines would never buff those thrust reversers. The whole airplane looks great. This the Advanced model, so probably has the -15 engines from the originals -9. What a beauty! Looks like it could fly into eternity. Thanks.

    They began making 737-200's in 1967 and stopped in 1988. And yes, these were the engines the 737 was originally designed with.

  • @justforever96
    @justforever96 11 лет назад

    "Takes a long time to begin to move"? Are you referring to how they hold the brakes down while they run the throttles up to full power? That is quite normal procedure, for any plane. Once they release the brakes, it begins moving immediately, and builds speed faster than any vehicle weighing 115,000 pounds has a right too.

  • @justforever96
    @justforever96 11 лет назад

    It's a turbofan, not a turbojet. It just has a lower bypass ratio than modern engines. Age isn't what matters to a plane, the hours it spends flying matter. And technically, Boeing's rudder is fine. It was a servo unit made by a subcontractor that was faulty. If was ever such a huge problem, Boeing never would have sold so many 737's. At any moment, there are over 1,000 in the air somewhere in the world. There is one landing and one taking off every 5 seconds, every hour, every day.

    Rockets might be the most explosive form of jet propulsion. And low-bypass turbo fans are everything turbojets were and more. And with an afterburner, could almost be a rocket.

  • @justforever96
    @justforever96 11 лет назад

    Jet propulsion in it's truest form would probably be a rocket. As far as turbine engines go, it'd be an old school turbojet. This is just a step up towards a high-bypass engine.

    I took "truest" to mean the simplest, least complex machine, not the best or most effective. A turbofan is more complex than a turbojet. That was all I meant. I also should have added pulsejet between rocket and turbojet.

    Du willst uns doch nicht erzählen, dass die Triebwerke mehr heulen als auf langen Pisten, oder? Flugzeuge starten immer mit Maximalschub - immer!
    Diese 1982er Boeing 737 hat, wie unscher zu erkennen, noch die "alten, lauten" Düsen dran... die klingen lauter als die neuen Turbofans.
