Please leave a like and comment for my pain and suffering as I spent 3 days re-editing this video to get it on RUclips only to realize there's no intro lol. I now have a better idea on how to edit these going forward. Apologies for how the video is edited but it was the only way I could upload the reaction on RUclips. Please check out the full version on Patreon.

I was 12 when this movie came out. I saw it in the theater with my best friend. I remember going home afterwards and going up to my room, and getting out a pen and paper and trying to map out the timeline to make it make sense in my head. It was quite a mind-fryer at that age. And that's before you mention all the awesome gunfights, or Linda Hamilton's boobs. But it has always been a helluva story and a tight, terrifying movie, and that's why it has always endured. I heard one commenter say that it's less of a Sci-Fi or action film, and honestly more of a horror film. The Terminator is basically a biomechanical Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger.
This movie is why Gen X doesn't trust AI. You children don't know what you're messing with.

Got to visit the set one night when they were filming Arnold shooting up the police station. Michael Biehn, who plays “Kyle Reese,” is an old friend; he’d given me the screenplay a few months earlier and said “I think I’m going to do this.” I watched Cameron set up a shot of Arnold walking down the hallway with a machine gun in each hand blasting the rooms as he passed them and thought “this guy’s got a real kinetic sense.” Ya think?

This movie blew my mind when I saw it (right when I started high school in the fall of 1984). I watched it on a Friday night with one group of friends and the next night with another group of friends. It remains among my favorite movies of all time!

The first time I saw anything about "The Terminator" was in the theater for another film when it was shown in the coming attractions. My thought was, "Wow, I wish I were seeing that movie instead." When I did see it soon thereafter, I thought it was a masterpiece.
Great reaction. You should do more movies.

Saturday Matinee was 1 dollar when this came out. I believe I watched it for three weekends in a row. Quite a bit of 80s sci fi was groundbreaking in special effects. I love that this movie never compromised on its premise: it had a necessary ending, not a happy one.

Many say that T2 is actually better than the original, I would definitely recommend watching it if you want to see the roles kinda switched (won't spoil anything).

Nice! You picked a great one for a first movie reaction. I didn't see this in the theater back when, I saw it at at party where someone had it on VHS tape, probably the week it became available to rent. I was still in high school. I remember the last twenty minutes scared the daylights out of the girls at the party. The shot where the terminator stealthily rises from the flames as a metal skeleton is classic, straight outta Frankenstein. I lost count how many times I've seen it since then. I definitely went to see the sequel in the theater. Schwarzenegger was still better known as a body builder when this movie dropped, although we dug him in Conan the Barbarian from the year before. That's a great action flick too. I would add it to your list of films to react to, along with The Predator, Terminator II, Total Recall and The Running Man. Also, this is one of James Cameron's first films, his first big hit at least. They gave him a much bigger budget for the sequel and he put it to very good use. Terminator II might be better than the original.

The producers wanted to have Arnold play Kyle Reese and OJ Simpson play the Terminator, but Cameron didn't think Simpson looked like a killer.

There's some morbid irony in that initial casting choice

It was ground breaking and made with a tiny budget. Cameron couldnt convince anyone to give him enough money to make a big movie. He came up with the idea for the Terminator when he was sick with a fever and dreamt about a time traveling cyborg infiltrating the human species. After this movie became a huge hit, Cameron was given the light for Terminator 2 and that one has a budget many times the size and you can tell. Both great movies but keep this one thing in mind: THEY DIDNT MAKE ANYMORE TERMINATOR MOVIES AFTER T2.

Jah, what type of keyboard do you have. I saw it in another video. I started classical piano at 7...boring. I learned to read music and wish I didn't. I became so used to reading music, I can't just jam. Keys and chord structure kind of go out the window. lol I have an upright in storage and own a casio. I wanted a keyboard that "feels" like a piano. Weighted keys, sustain etc. I bought a Yamaha digital p-125. Full keyboard and sounds/plays like a grand piano! It's a perfect size too. I took drums in middle school. I was meant to be a drummer. I picked it up quickly, but because I read music, he put me on tympani. Girls weren't drummers back then, except Karen Carpenter anyway. Freshman year, with sticks in my back pocket, I walked to drum class. All guys! I was very shy so I didn't attend. Love your indepth music reactions.
