I grew up in Detroit in the 1980's. At that time Detroit was considered the "Murder capital of the country," so it was no joke. Robocop has a special place in my heart even though the scene where they shoot up Murphy scared the crap out of me as a kid. Paul Verhoven is the master at satirical commentary about society and Robocop captures the social anxiety everyone kind of had in the 80's.
The line that’s always cracked me up since I first saw Robocop as a kid was when Ed-209 shoots the guy a hundred times and turned him into mincemeat and a dude says, “can someone call a god damn paramedic?” It might be too late for that boss 😂
However, the original script kinda insinuated that Kenny is still alive and that Morton’s Robocop team would somehow save his life.
please show them kindergarten cop next or after and tell them it’s the same main actor! and show them his bodybuilding days and his current life with his little farm!
Set in Detroit but mostly filmed in Dallas, some of the Dallas buildings looked futuristic enough for filming. Detroit, a real American city, often depicted as a place of great crime in cinema, the butt of the jokes in that sense, of some 80s action movies. Great movie though, good reaction, love you guys!
19:12 oh and parts of Pittsburg too
I live in Dallas. Is that not a real American city?
@@Marchant2 my goodness, I never said anything about Dallas not being a real city. I was just focused on how some folks from other countries actually think Detroit is fictional. YES Dallas is a real city so is Pittsburg, geez, peace bro
I grew up in Detroit in the 80's and honestly they probably picked Dallas because yes one it looked kinda futuristic and two, Detroit was pretty bad crime wise with areas being like literal warzones you didn't go into back then. 8mlie and Grand Torino are great movies that are set in and also filmed actually in Detroit.
Paul Verhoven doesn't miss. Between this, Starship Troopers and Total Recall, he made some of the best satire/action movies Hollywood has ever seen
I don’t think I ever heard the “Bob and friends” party scene being described so comedic. 13:50 “Bob is engaged in unethical activities.”
Glorious 80s, which allowed me to go to the cinema at only 9 years old to see Robocop, with all its violence included. I love this movie!! 🤩🤩🤩😁
That's terrible. You must have endured great mental suffering. Have you attended therapy afterwards?
Fun fact this movie is a sci-fi/American retelling of the story of Jesus with them making the main character a cop instead of a carpenter and having his design be a rip off on a few comic book characters the filmmakers were fans of along with Judge Dredd.
Ronny Cox, DELIVERANCE!!!!
Ronny Cox and Miguel Ferrer, two great villains - and Kurtwood Smith and Dan O'Herlihy, just great in general. Much as I like Peter Weller, I think they were important too.
If you liked Robocop, Robocop 2 and Starship Troopers are both definitely worth a watch
I still have this on VHS
Please watch the other two Robocop movies as well: Robocop 2 and 3!
It's a violent fast-paced action movie for sure, but "Robocop" has a great storyline where right triumphs in the end. That feel-good aspect is always appealing.
However, what attracts me most in the movie is how the headgear designed for Robocop puts the focus directly on actor Peter Weller's incredibly sensual lips. Oh, yeahhh.
Heheheh...There. I said it...
Weller as Robocop is one sexy cyborg.
😊💜🤖💜🦾💜😚
Lol... Schwarzenegger's ain't got nothing on him! 😉
Some costume design for certain actors really makes the most of their best features. For another instance, in the Star Trek movie, "The Wrath Of Khan," actor Ricardo Montalban plays the villain Khan, and the tunic he wears is fantastic... baring his magnificent chest in a way that makes a strikingly masculine image. Be still, my heart!
Our cinema-loving friends should react to the five Star Trek movies that feature the original TV series cast, watching them all in sequence, of course, as each sequel carries important elements from the original, and each continues the story, even though there are new and interesting plots brought in.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture - 1979
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - 1982
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock - 1984
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - 1986
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - 1989
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - 1991
I think sequels II, III and IV are the best.
Good movie I remember going to the theater to watch it
I saw in a documentary that the director of Robocop was a total lunatic.
Hench forth Murphy's law !
