And then she just straightly goes to Ghana to get married to him. Unbelievable... This poor woman, i know exactly how she feels. I also had a nightmare relationship+marriage with someone in Ghana's eastern neighbour country (I worked there). At least we lived there together there, but he was not better. Fortunately I could cancel his visa before he came to Europe. My heart goes out to her ❤❤❤ don't get manipulated guys.

I've been to Tunisia on holiday once and it was a nightmare. Even with my three year son in thow they would not leave me alone. We ended up staying on the hotel grounds. How any woman falls for their fake interest is beond me.
You are wise. They make it their mission to prey on vulnerable women with the hope it leads to a visa to another country. Kind of like how some countries do the online scam except this is in person so to speak. I'm now almost 54. Omg. On Facebook I have lots of younger guys from Tunisia hitting me up for marriage. I don’t even reply. I know it’s not true love for these guys. For any woman who would accept this. Please have a clear mind and think of the Reality of this.
I know a couple where I live and they have a kid. They have been together for about 14 years. However, she seems a little masculine, ie; short, short man hair, has a male gait, doesn't dress feminine (in fact she is not feminine at all), etc. They show no affection for each other except when they were first going out. They married, kid came a year later and so begins their married life. Poor guy looks unhappy. I do notice he is very friendly and (sometimes) flirty. In my country the divorce rate for these mixed couples is 98%. You get married, soon after you get a citizenship. I'm not saying this is him, but the stats look awful.
Somehow, they don’t think it will happen to them though, and with the number of cases this channel has to sort out, it’s still happening regardless. I don’t get it. I also wonder why all of those women and men are wasting all of their savings and even taking on debt to help strangers. It’s like a disease is passing through them.
These women all sound well mannered,well spoken,have a good vocabulary and appear to have insight. That shows how you don't need to be gullible/uneducated to be scammed, just meet someone very manipulative in a moment of your life when you are fragile.

Many years ago I had a suitor from Egypt, a very good looking young man. He was only five years younger than me, but OMG, he looked like a film star.... I'm not exaggerating. I was that time a mousy thirty something years old single woman. We met in real life, in London. His courting was very pushy, he soon expressed an interest in marriage... I did find out he has no visa. Thank god, I didn't fall for his charms.
It's up to these women find another purpose in life outside of looking for love from this one or that, on or offline. People live longer these days, and it is up to every individual to craft a life of true meaning. Romance tends to be overrated as the ONE source of happiness in life. I wish them all well.

@@pythagorasnine At a basic level, these "dramas" are based on lifelong fantasies too many women harbor about being "taken care of forever" by some man. A lot of these women were married for 40 and 50 years to one person, yet it seems even that was not enough for them. They still look for more of the same from one person. It's very sad.
I wonder what made these women to be so vulnerable in the first place. I assume some of them already had their series of unhealthy relationships and some trauma, that they kept looking for live in the wrong places. Codependent and probably in denial as well, willing to overlook the red flags

I watched another documentary showing how a lot of older European women go to Africa for s*x tourism. Some come back with mates, some stay there with the man taking care of him and some just go several times a year for the “fun” but that’s how a lot of women from Europe end up in these situations, not saying that’s the case for these women. The woman from the U.S. got catfished but once she saw he was a liar she should’ve blocked him and went home.

It's amazing how the UK immigration department go after people who came to the UK in the1950/60's such as the Windrush community and have lived in the UK for so many years and even paid UK taxes and with no criminal records but something is wrong with their visa's and it was recently discovered and they receive letters that they need to return to the country of their births yet nothing is done or basicly checked and investigated on men/women who apply for visas when the man/woman is many years younger than their so called English fiancee/wife/husband when it's pretty obvious that it's a romance scam and fone for a visa to remain in the UK.

I was internet talking to a tall, handsome fellow in Nigeria for several months and he then asked me for some money, to pay for water delivery, and when I told him I only had $135 until payday, 6 days away, and I'd have to use it for gas to get to work, that was the last time I heard from him.
In my opinion, more unattractive women (it's not just about age) are likely to fall for such men. This makes them particularly susceptible to unrealistic, exaggerated compliments because they have a low self-confidence and crave this attention. But still, thank you to these women for having the courage to tell their story to the public.

Im South African and I don't think any of these first world people understand what lengths people will go through to get 1. either money, or 2. out of their country. I have seen so many girls fall for African men, from Malawi to Zanzibar, it really funny to see, they completely fall for the charm, which most African men are, hella charming. They come on VERY strong which should be an immediate No... Sometimes, it's actual love, but I think that is a different situation, there is normal courting etc. I think if you've seen it, it is very easy to tell. Most woman in Africa (Southern and Eastern, I cannot speak for North and West-Africa) are VERY traditional and they are USED to the charm and charisma, they are very strict with men, so non-african woman are SO EASY to sleep with and con.

Once you get into a relationship where the dynamic is that "you give", I believe it is important to remind it to yourself. Ask 'if this person leaves tomorrow, will I be ok with the whole thing?' And give nothing more. The worst is the one where he involved his children, I don't think anybody could be ok after that.
People gotta realise these scammers literally have nothing to lose. Their option is living just to wake up the next day, no hope, no chances, no options. Men in particular are better at looking past a human to see an opportunity.

It’s easy to be critical of women/people who are scammed. However, it’s important that these men-frauds- are exposed as the criminals they are. Without these women having courage to tell their stories, the power of shame would allow the true culprits to avoid facing justice. That’s how they keep their scams going-women hide because of embarrassment and shame. At the end of the day, the blame should be on the criminals. Think if this were your own mom or grandmother or aunt…their kindness and compassion is exploited. I feel angry for them!! Go get ‘em ladies! Take ‘em to court!!

This has been happening to old, European men in Thailand for 30-40 years. Later our new best friends in Ukraine got into the scam business. The rule is: If you’re old and from a developed country, a young person from a less developed or under developed country will NOT marry you for love - but for your money. And they WILL get it, one way or the other.

Unfortunately, we live in a society which still insists that a woman is nothing without a man. Those poor European women have been alone for too long and think that they can recreate romance with a man thirty years younger than them on a two-week holiday in a foreign country. The trouble is that that man rarely loves them; he uses them only to get a passport to the UK and then he abandons them. He may have even been married to a local girl before he start dating the much older European.
Be realistic. If a man is much younger then a woman, the possiblities that he will leave for a younger woman. How many men settle for older women for the rest of their lives. As a woman we must wake up from the reality of it.

That Steve thing happened to my dad. Went to Ghana to meet a (black) lady, but she didnt "show up" and my dad met another lady who seemed to know a lot about him. But he was lonely, ended up marrying her - only then did she tell him she had two sons. he looked after them like they were his own, soon she was becoming abusive, physically and he just left not to be heard from for 5 years out of shame.

I would say that non-verbal communication tells a lot about how somebody feels about you. I watched the wedding video with this guy from Senegal and you could tell he was not mentally present, would have preferred to be somewhere else

Well, I can understand why you are saying what you are saying, but the government shouldn't be deciding who should be marrying who. It is very unfortunate that these women were scammed, but if the government had the right to decide whom we can marry, it would be a problem. Also, when someone is getting a visa, it costs thousands of pounds/dollars for the application fees. So, it isn't costing anything to the tax payers. Those women who got scammed paid for the expensive visa application fees for the con artists.

I've been to Tunisia on holiday once and it was a nightmare. Even with my three year son in thow they would not leave me alone. We ended up staying on the hotel grounds. How any woman falls for their fake interest is beond me.

Omg. On Facebook I have lots of younger guys from Tunisia hitting me up for marriage. I don’t even reply. I know it’s not true love for these guys. For any woman who would accept this. Please have a clear mind and think of the Reality of this.
I know a couple where I live and they have a kid. They have been together for about 14 years. However, she seems a little masculine, ie; short, short man hair, has a male gait, doesn't dress feminine (in fact she is not feminine at all), etc. They show no affection for each other except when they were first going out. They married, kid came a year later and so begins their married life. Poor guy looks unhappy. I do notice he is very friendly and (sometimes) flirty.
In my country the divorce rate for these mixed couples is 98%. You get married, soon after you get a citizenship. I'm not saying this is him, but the stats look awful.

I was that time a mousy thirty something years old single woman. We met in real life, in London. His courting was very pushy, he soon expressed an interest in marriage... I did find out he has no visa. Thank god, I didn't fall for his charms.

Why do they always go looking for a husband in African countries? Go somewhere where you speak the same language and the culture and expectations are closer to what yours are.
I watched another documentary showing how a lot of older European women go to Africa for s*x tourism. Some come back with mates, some stay there with the man taking care of him and some just go several times a year for the “fun” but that’s how a lot of women from Europe end up in these situations, not saying that’s the case for these women. The woman from the U.S. got catfished but once she saw he was a liar she should’ve blocked him and went home.

It's amazing how the UK immigration department go after people who came to the UK in the1950/60's such as the Windrush community and have lived in the UK for so many years and even paid UK taxes and with no criminal records but something is wrong with their visa's and it was recently discovered and they receive letters that they need to return to the country of their births yet nothing is done or basicly checked and investigated on men/women who apply for visas when the man/woman is many years younger than their so called English fiancee/wife/husband when it's pretty obvious that it's a romance scam and fone for a visa to remain in the UK.

Im South African and I don't think any of these first world people understand what lengths people will go through to get 1. either money, or 2. out of their country. I have seen so many girls fall for African men, from Malawi to Zanzibar, it really funny to see, they completely fall for the charm, which most African men are, hella charming. They come on VERY strong which should be an immediate No... Sometimes, it's actual love, but I think that is a different situation, there is normal courting etc. I think if you've seen it, it is very easy to tell. Most woman in Africa (Southern and Eastern, I cannot speak for North and West-Africa) are VERY traditional and they are USED to the charm and charisma, they are very strict with men, so non-african woman are SO EASY to sleep with and con.

It’s easy to be critical of women/people who are scammed. However, it’s important that these men-frauds- are exposed as the criminals they are. Without these women having courage to tell their stories, the power of shame would allow the true culprits to avoid facing justice. That’s how they keep their scams going-women hide because of embarrassment and shame. At the end of the day, the blame should be on the criminals. Think if this were your own mom or grandmother or aunt…their kindness and compassion is exploited. I feel angry for them!! Go get ‘em ladies! Take ‘em to court!!

This has been happening to old, European men in Thailand for 30-40 years. Later our new best friends in Ukraine got into the scam business.
The rule is: If you’re old and from a developed country, a young person from a less developed or under developed country will NOT marry you for love - but for your money. And they WILL get it, one way or the other.
When older people marry much younger people Surely they must realize that almost all of the time the younger person isn’t doing it for Love. It’s just a Fact!

Unfortunately, we live in a society which still insists that a woman is nothing without a man. Those poor European women have been alone for too long and think that they can recreate romance with a man thirty years younger than them on a two-week holiday in a foreign country. The trouble is that that man rarely loves them; he uses them only to get a passport to the UK and then he abandons them. He may have even been married to a local girl before he start dating the much older European.

That Steve thing happened to my dad. Went to Ghana to meet a (black) lady, but she didnt "show up" and my dad met another lady who seemed to know a lot about him. But he was lonely, ended up marrying her - only then did she tell him she had two sons.
he looked after them like they were his own, soon she was becoming abusive, physically and he just left not to be heard from for 5 years out of shame.

I would say that non-verbal communication tells a lot about how somebody feels about you. I watched the wedding video with this guy from Senegal and you could tell he was not mentally present, would have preferred to be somewhere else

Part of this is the government's fault - it is at their discretion whether they issue a spouse visa, and a marriage between a 25 year old man and a 60 year old woman is clearly fraudulent, even if the old bird can't see it. It stings that their stupidity is frequently paid for by the taxpayer.

Well, I can understand why you are saying what you are saying, but the government shouldn't be deciding who should be marrying who. It is very unfortunate that these women were scammed, but if the government had the right to decide whom we can marry, it would be a problem.
Also, when someone is getting a visa, it costs thousands of pounds/dollars for the application fees. So, it isn't costing anything to the tax payers. Those women who got scammed paid for the expensive visa application fees for the con artists.
