    This is one of the most informative videos i've seen. I'm lucky enough to own one of these, and it is by far the best machine i've ever had...and I've had a LOT from sub 1K to 10K...this thing is a beast, and it can do ANYTHING you need it to. But, it needs some tweaking, and it takes a good deal of patience to "dial it in" for whichever beans you decide to use. And if you change beans a lot, like I do, it makes it fun to experiment to find the right extraction. You CAN make some bad coffee though, so it's not a "magical brewer". That's why it definitely needs some attention and some study and some patience. It's not a "super automatic".

    have you tried the Volumetric method? It doesn't seem to actually run for a programmed volume of coffee?
    Also, I set Force low and Second high, in combination with Tamper-Fan-Connector adjusted to max = reduces Dose

    I've had this machine for almost 8 years now, and it's most likely on its last legs but one setting I'm not still not sure about, is the pre infusion. What does the "55" value mean? Is that 5.5 bar of pressure? 5.5ml of water? 55% of max pressure? I've never found anything about what that first number actually equates to but I also had tend to have it at the lowest for at least 10 seconds. Looking forward to the Meticulous or the Bengle for my next machine!

    Love how clear and detailed your vids are! Also how user based you test... Ok don't want to be a suck up just give props where they are due. I would like to get the oracle. The oracle touch is obviously the newer and more comfortable to use. I read up on the differences. As far as I could see is that obviously the touch screen is one difference but the others are not so clear. I guess the internal relevant hardware is identical (boiler, materials, brew unit, wand??, grinder etc.)? That would be my first question. Then I found that with no touch version you can set tamper time / pressure and froth the milk manually... Correct? And the touch has the convenience of creat and save... Oh and has bit larger dimensions then the original.. Please fill me on on other differences or correct the ones I pointed out.. That would be great and I thank you in advance! I prefer the less digital look of the original and of course the lower cost but I don't want to miss out on technical updates since it has been on the market quite a bit longer... Are there maybe any new models appearing in the near future... Ok that was the last question!! Sorry for the long text!

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  3 года назад +1

      In my opinion, the touch versions of the Breville machines aren't worth the money over their non-touch counterparts!
      The Oracle will have all the same functionalities as the Oracle Touch, and be able to create the same quality drinks. You can still program in the exact brew parameters, milk temp/texture...etc except you will use dials and buttons instead of a screen.
      This is why I went with the Oracle over the Touch for my personal use as well. Great machine

      @@LifestyleLab_ also maybe one more question😁
      I'm making the transition from full automatic bean to cup mashine to then most probably the Oracle. I like the traditional mashines a lot and the idea of the hands on approach and the much better coffee but I have no time for an extra hobby..at least for now. So as mentioned in mammy videos the oracle bridges the gap for me. To get to my question... If you quickly want to grab a coffee before you leave the house...hiw does that play out. Leave the mashine on, warm and ready whilst at home the hole time? Or does is it ready that quick menacing the oracle. I guess this question applies to all real espresso mashines... The bean to cup mashines are obviously quick to be ready..

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  3 года назад +2

      It would be best to program it to turn on 20mins or so before you wake up (another great feature of these machines!) Then it would be about a minute to make a latte. If the machine isn't on, it takes about 5mins to warm up, and then you'd just have to run some hot water through the poartafilter to warm it up before brewing

    You said that the air flow setting (when air is introduced to the milk) has no purpose, it'll help more with lower fat milks to introduce the air earlier. It is a good setting to play with to try and achieve better milk texture with milks that aren't full fat.

    Just out of curiosity, with the Oracle, how do we know the pressure of the shot is good as they do not have a pressure gage, like the barista express does. And how do we know the grand size or the grand amount is suitable for the extraction?

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  2 года назад

      Like on any other machine, based on the espresso flow rate! :)
      The dose is automatically handled by the machine. It's dosing 21g for a double shot I believe

  • @rhulcy
    @rhulcy Год назад +1

    I know this is a 2 year old video and someone else commented this but can you do a video showing the volumetric extract. I'd like to know if it solves so many peoples "issue" with bad shots if we can just select 2oz

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  Год назад +1

      You cannot just “select 2oz”
      You must program and save a shot, and then the machine attempts to duplicate it assuming identical puck prep. It doesn’t actually have measurement capabilities.

    I’ve been struggling for six weeks to get the two cup function to “work”… I don’t know why there is pre infusion on the two cup but no pre infusion on the single cup. My two cup runs for six seconds and then stops…so, I think I will start up in advanced settings and this will reset to factory and fix the problem?

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  2 года назад

      You can just reprogram the double shout button to any shot length of your choice :)

    • @petesmith9472
      @petesmith9472 2 года назад

      @@LifestyleLab_ thank you. I think I solved the problem by resetting to the factory. But that didn’t work either, it was still only 6 seconds. So, as you suggested I did 30 seconds on the two cup and I think / hope that has solved it. What I still can’t find is why there is no “pre infusion” LCD illuminated for the single but there is for the first seconds of the two cup.

    Are you planning on doing an oracle touch review?

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  3 года назад +2

      Likely not, because I think the touch models are HIGHLY overpriced over their non-touch equivalents.
      But maybe in the future! (After I get the Bambino, and Barista Pro in the studio)

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  3 года назад

      All the touch screen does is allow you to choose a drink, and the machine will adjust the espresso dose, and milk texture automatically. So if you're willing to set your espresso volume yourself (once), and set your milk temp/texture preferences yourself (once), you save yourself hundreds of dollars.
      Quality of beverage will be exactly the same on both

    • @alanduong2055
      @alanduong2055 3 года назад

      @@LifestyleLab_ Sounds good. As long as I'm able to choose the volume for espresso once (which i think you did in the video), it should all be good.

    I wish I liked this machine better, but I would never buy this unit again. Sent 1st machine back 4 times for service! They finally sent me a new machine, which was also broken (while plugged in and off... would make crazy, loud electrical clicking noises). Sent it back to get 'fixed' and after a few months of use, machine now overheats to the point you can't use it - it won't brew; Breville refuses to help me anymore. I went into 'service' mode - hold down both sing & double shot buttons while turning on the power and found 10 fault codes out of 32 recorded. Can't believe how many people give this machine a good review.

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  6 месяцев назад

      Seems like you got a lemon, definitely not indicative of the machine overall. My parents have had theirs without issue for over 3 years now. A family friends is going strong after 6.
      Keep in mind they sell tens of thousands of machines a year. A few technical issues are to be expected, but like you said, overall the machine is very highly reviewed.
      The ticking and overheating you described makes me think it could possibly be the circuits in your kitchen itself. These machines draw a lot of power, your kitchen might be on a lower current circuit
