    Cut my teeth 50 years ago, fishing out of the Buccaneer and the Sailfish Center. The old Sail Ahoy was top gun and legends in the game Captained and mated there. I love your videos because not much has changed and your attention to detail is spot on. Keep up the good work refreshing my skills. Thanks

    I usually use the double clinch knot. My favorite knot.

    Hi Heath, I never knew about your versions 2, 3 & 4. I tie version # 1 and a version 5. For version 5, you take the tag and put it through the eye and then put the tag through the eye again, in the same direction as the first time. It makes a small loop if you don't pull it tight. Make the 6 twists up the main line and then put the tag end through the little loop near the eye. It's similar to the basic clinch but there are 2 wraps around the eye. Also I wet or spit on the mono line before clinching down. This prevents line burn. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks, Mickey

      Hey Mickey, thanks for version 5, Just as I thought, there are several more ways to tie this knot than just these ones. What's great is they all lead to a great end result, a rather simple, super strong knot. This is the knot I teach everyone how to tie, it doesn't intimidate them and when they get it, they tie it and cut it off and re-tie like 5 or 6 times, because they can't believe how easy it is. That line warping bothers everyone, even me, if it's too bad, I'll redo it. I appreciate you taking time out to watch. It's always a pleasure to hear from you, and gain some knowledge from your wisdom sharing. Take care and stay warm. Until next time, tight lines & good vibes.

    Learned a great deal from this video on knots. I've been a pure polamar knot guy, but will definitely use the improved clinch knot.

      I used to use Palomar knots all the time, was the original fishing knot to attach a hook to the line. As with everything, as time goes on people get creative and now we have books full of knots. This was the first real knot I learned when I was about 8 and stopped tying a hundred over-hand knots to attach the hook. This knot is great to hook to solid state eye like the ones on hooks or spinnerbaits, however for terminal attachments like split ring hoops found on jerk baits, it's probably better to go with the no-slip loop knot. Glad you took away something from this. Take acre boss. Until next time, tight lines & good vibes.

      Mike, I'm here.. still alive and kickin'... be ultra busy with work. Had to put the breaks on the YT channel for a bit. Little known facts about myself... I have 4 kids, 2 full time jobs... and, well, no free time. I'm just playing fly on the wall for now. that kayak looks like a boat load of fun though. I sincerely appreciate you checking in on me. Take care boss. Tight lines & good vibes.

    Good instructional video. Looks like some pretty heavy hooks and line. You must catch some big ones.

      Thanks a million for watching. That big hook is really just for filming so you can see clearly what I'm doing. Then again, big hook + big bait = big fish. Take care and tight lines

    Awesome Heath! I did not even know there was a double clinch knot. Hope all is well man. I have not heard from you in a little while!

      Hey Nathan, I'm still alive and kickin'... just taking a break from twitter, IG ... and slowing down on RUclips Channel. Reason: @ full time jobs, 4 kids, never a dull moment... I've got some episodes I'm in the middle of editing, trying to get them out, but a lack hours in the day. Regardless, I've been seeing your uploads and let them play on autoplay when I get a chance, your lures are looking great, that's some great skill and patience you have. So, thanks for checking in on me. SFSF isn't going anywhere, just takin' a lil' hiatus. Take care & tight lines

      @@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Glad to hear and I get it 💯 man! It gets to be a bit much managing daily life, RUclips and social media obligations. The Wake & Bait is ready to be painted but I've been busy. I'm very glad to hear you're okay bud! Tight lines!!

    Hey Heath yeah old reliable the clinch knot wish I had a dollar every time I tied one of those tell swfg I said hi and # 1 son too good point on number of wraps smaller dia required more wraps bigger diameter you can use less I like th clinch uni and double uni for tying two lines together and surgeon knot have good night and good fishing on Sunday Showdown JOHN

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  5 лет назад

      Hi John, likewise, if clinches were worth $1, wouldn't need to play the lotto. It's interesting to see how many different variations of this knot there are, way more than these 4, regardless it's simple to teach folks and get them out fishing. Avi and the girls say "Hi" back to you, Chloe says she really like the hat. Thanks a bazillion for watching. Take care. Until next time, tight lines & good vibes.

      You've come to the right place, try the most basic of these. It's my go to knot. Sometimes it takes practice to get these things down. I estimate I've tied this knot close to 200,000 times in my life. Good luck & take care.

      Hi Mickey, all is well. Thanks for your concern. Just been real busy with work and life... 2 full-time jobs, 4 kids, never a full moment. Had to put the breaks on a little. Do some reevaluating and reinventing of what I want to do with the channel. I do have some videos in the process of being edited, but I believe in quality over quantity. Thanks a million for your patience. SFSF isn't going away any time soon.
