Ľubomír "Lubo" Moravčík (born 22 June 1965) Lubo came to Celtic in November 1998. Signed by fellow Slovakian Dr Jozef Vengloš for a fee of just £300,000, he became a hero in the eyes of the Parkhead faithful, forming an outstanding partnership with Henrik Larsson.
Moravčík's first two goals for Celtic came against their arch-rivals Rangers on 21 November 1998, in what turned out to be a memorable 5--1 victory in the midst of a very poor season. He stayed at Celtic Park for a total of four seasons, winning two SPL championships, one Scottish Cup and two CIS Insurance Cups.
Lubomir Moravcik should have been a worldwide legend. Absolutely baffling that he never went on to win European honors or play in any prestigious major club (except for Celtic!)

Moravcik was technicaly more gifted than Nedved ,Nedved was a great player and made right move from Sparta to Lazio and Juve ,Nedved was super combative style player vs Lubo sublime style of football .Both great champions !
I remember when we got him. We were told we had a player that had scored so many goals, captained his country, took all the free kicks, could use both feet etc. but not given his name. Then we were told his name and searches told us he was a trouble maker at Duisburg and that he was 33 yrs old and were thinking: what the fuck have we bought, not knowing that he was a fuckin genius and wishing we could have bought him earlier.

My favourite Lubo moments were the goal at Castle Grayskull and the time when he trapped a long ball with his BACKSIDE on the touchline at Celtic Park.

what baffles me is not 1 so called big club even took a chance on Lubo when he was younger by christ they boo booed we took him on @ 32 years old & ehat a player lubo was n the 300k spent on him was just as good as the 650k to bring henrik less than £1 mill for 2 players who are total legends remember lubo s 1st goals 4 us v rangers by god he introduced himself to Scottish football that Saturday afternoon, thank you god 4 the gift hail hail

Remember the ribbing a got from ma mates when we signed him. "Whats a 32 year old nobody gonna do?" He Wasn't long in shutting their mouths as well as plenty others in the so called "unbiased" scottish media. 😂😂
When Lubo Moravcik left Czechoslovakia to play abroad it was early 90es and that time we hardly had any decent football agents in my country ,so players can end up anywhere ...in his case St.Etiene in France.... ,did he had a talent to play for a bigger club? No doubt about it ! He got a offer from Olympic Marseile which he declined ,staying loyal to St.Etiene .Olympic Marseile eventualy won Champions league ... I think ,that is one decision he may regrets ,but than again as a Slovakian Im very proud and happy that he played for Celtic and won tittles and hearts of Celtic fans ! It was fitting end to his carrer as a footballer
