Thank you for saying that the first time doing an activity may not be successful. It puts things in perspective to calm down, as you say. And thank you for sharing. Your kids are beautiful!
Thank you 🥰 it’s definitely something I learned from experience. I would get frustrated when activities didn’t come out right the first time and then as I kept doing them things got better and more enjoyable, so I knew I wanted to include that in the video 💛
My son started drinking from an glass at about ten month. We started with a shot glass and then switched to a small juice glass maybe two months later. Eating was always messy, but drinking not so much. My son never broke a glass and he never poured out the drink just for fun. However for months he used to throw food in his drink and then continued drinking it. That was a disgusting phase. 😆 Imagine apple juice with little pieces of bread or even meat in it.
I needed some things to do with 2 year olds! How long do they usually do these activities? And how often do you do these kinds of activities? I'm a working mom and also doing RUclips and I feel guilty that I don't spend as much time with my baby as much as I think other moms are. If you have any kind of schedule of things you do with your 2 year old, that would be very helpful to see :) Thanks so much! Liking and subscribing!
Yes! In the meantime check out Hapa Family ruclips.net/channel/UCDs6BiaaXKiPy28wNpyUpoQ she has a lot of Montessori activity videos for younger kiddos too 💛
We save our avacado pips, dry them out and let our 2 year go to town on them, she LOVES peeling things. Because sometimes you dont need 6 peeled boiled eggs 😂 Thanks for the video, its refreshed me ready for the next phase.
What activities did you do for you son when he was 18 months old? My son is turning 18 months next month and he’s still in the stage of throwing his toys and not actually playing with them. He has open ended toys like you have for your kids but he plays for 5 minutes then starts throwing it. Any suggestions? Did your son do this too?
Yes, I did go through this too! It sounds like your son is in a stage of high gross motor needs, which means he needs a lot of movement and is working more on his “physical” skills which is TOTALLY normal at this age. Though open ended toys are great, they are more appropriate for children closer to ages 2 and up. If he’s into throwing, I would put those open ended toys away for later on and have balls available for him to play. There are great soft plush balls for indoors or little bean bags he can be redirected to throwing instead of things that can potentially hurt him or someone else. This is a time when he probably needs a lot of movement and physical play. Water play is also great to get all that energy out. But I’d also would have a simple knob puzzle available for him, because at 18 months and up you’ll start seeing a lot more purposeful play little by little and simple puzzles are a great way to start. We’re all in a journey to figure out the needs of our children, so don’t fret 💛 it sounds like you care so much about your little one. Hope this helps a bit.
Juli Williams thank you so much for replying! Yes I do have those puzzles you are talking about. He just seems more interested in throwing than anything else. But he’s been in this stage since he was turning 1. I guess I’ll just keep letting him throw his balls around. Thank you again!!
Im worried about the things being used like the glass tray and the glasses, ceramic pitcher, im worried my child would drop it and the pieces would scatter. Does it bother u also? Or im just being paranoid 😅
You're not being paranoid at all. It takes time to get used to the idea of glass or breakables with children, and this is not for everyone either. Each family makes their own decisions of what they believe is right for their own children, you can still implement Montessori with non-breakable tools
I was looking for things to do with my 4 yo son during lockdown and rainy weather when outside wasn't really an option. So tomorrow, we got some new things to try!
Love this. Thx for sharing. I have some practical questions, hope you could help: - how do you introduce the routines/ how to behave? - how do you deal with a child who doesn't want to engage with any activity or clean up? - how do you deal with a child who excited to do one activity and suddenly loss his/her interest in the middle of his/her work and refuse to finish his/her work ? Thank you in advance!

Oh yes 😂 I’ve totally been there. I remind myself process of results but it’s still a little gross hahaha

Your kids are beautiful, God bless her. Great information. Thanks so much.
The pouring activity sounds like an oppurtunity for a tea party to me!
Great ideas! I wonder if you would ever consider showing us the learning phases from some old footage. I am sure many parents would love that too
