I sawt Robin Hitchcock open for REM back in the late eighties always been a fan of him but man what a beautiful cover the favorite band of mine Psychedelic Furs he did it justice gave me a new appreciation for the song

This interpretation easily rivals the original. The Man Upstairs is the most consistently good Hitchcock album years. (I've loved ALL of them.) His voice has become an unbelievable instrument. It always was nice and distinctive, but now it has the gravitas and patina few have ever achieved. The austerity of the arrangements really brings this to the fore. Beautiful record! Thank You, Robyn! Keep doing what you do.

And some lovely English cheddar from a market in his neighbourhood. I’d be witty and a little satirical and not be presumptuous. I wouldn’t gush either. I’d leave before I’d worn out my welcome. Then I’d go to someplace calming and deeply English, like Apsley House. I like the Duke of Wellington taste in porcelain.

Brilliant! It is amazing how Robyn makes this wonderful, melodic Furs tune sound like it fits perfectly within his canon of originals.
I have always loved this song regardless of who is singing, Robyn, Psychedelic Furs, or Counting Crows (live). Truly a great song!
