Not really, it's totally obvious. I don't understand why Ed had a problem with killing Krill children, and sending them back to their parents makes no sense. Yeah right, like the Union would go along with that. If they send them back, the Krill will just continue to indoctrinate them and mold them into killers who will only take more Union lives. It would've been best to let them die with the rest of the Krill, or failing that try to assimilate them into Union life without the rules of the Krill. Show them the alternative.
Lucas Akame Exactly, they were being taught to hate non-Krill by their own kind. Nothing Ed did actually radicalized them. They were already heading down that path because of the Krill adults. That Krill woman spoke that way because in her mind it just confirms her bias that humans are soulless.

Wow... Didn't see a single episode, thinking it wasn't worth it, but just... wow... just for the look of this video this show appears to be more Star Trek than any Star Trek made in a couple of decades.
Precisely! There is A LOT of former Trek cast and crew on and behind the scenes working on this (including writers/directors) and it shows. Frakes (TNG Riker) Directed Ep. 5 and Robert Duncan Mcneil (VOY Paris) Directed Ep. 2.
Because they sided with Star Trek Discovery with 84%. Discovery is what critics want, a social justice, dark show behind the mask of Star Trek. Orville is a fun version of Star Trek behind a message. Can't have that.
I agree. The critics are literally incapable of imagining an upbeat, utopian future, because for the last 15 years, the studios that make sci-fi have been giving us nothing but dark, violent, DC-EU style wankfests. They don't know how (or don't want to) make movies any other way. I think the reason for that is simple corporate laziness and greed. If a studio wants its movie to sell worldwide, then it's best to keep it simple. No complex ideas, no social commentary, keep the story as minimal (or non-existent) as possible and don't offend anyone from any culture. Giant robots punching each other fits that bill perfectly. Explosions, punching and boobs doesn't need a complex story . . . doesn't need translation or interpretation.
Yeah, EA is almost like the 3rd Reich of the gaming industry, they have a graveyard full of game developer companies...rip Westwood, Bullfrog and now Visceral.
The most important part about this summing up of the voyage so far is the amount of comedy it contains: Zero, zilch, none, null (well, expcept for the brilliant Reality TV resolution in "Command Performance"). The Orville is deeply serious about telling actual Science Fiction and everybody needs to understand this. The gags are NOT at the center of this show. This compilation is good news because it is proof that the network understands.
And the show is improving in this regard. At first the humor was awkward but it's blending in much better in later episodes. Now it serves to make the characters deeper and more realistic.

There's absolutely no reason (other than bad writing) for everybody to be working in a dark, gloomy ship. It's just sad that ST:D is so bad that it's fanbase can't handle competition.
@Volga The first episode was a very bad representation of what the rest of the show is like. Especially in terms of comedy. They changed the show a lot between the pilot (which was shot a lot earlier) and the actual series. The pilot was a comedy show of questionable humor with some scifi thrown in, whereas all the other episodes are really a serious scifi show, where the characters like to make some jokes every once in a while. You should not judge the Orville by only the first episode, you might be missing out on something great. Pick any other episode and give the show another try. If you still don't like it then thats totally OK with me. I just don't like people complaining about how terrible they think the show is, when most of the issues they complain about have been gotten rid of after the first episode.

To sum up, this *is* the next Star Trek and it's an absolutely worthy successor. Well done Mr. MacFarlane, well done!
Nope. That's simply not true. FOX for sure does cancel a lot of genre shows. But that is only due to FOX being the network brave enough to give them a chance in the first place.
krazipynaple If I remember right, Space: Above and Beyond was such a metaphor for the Vietnam war that it must have been very uncomfortable viewing for Americans. I also found that it reminded me of a set of science fiction books I had been reading at the time. It was a good series, well acted and directed. I was disappointed when there was no second series. This video for The Orville has made me want to see it even more. If Fox dare cut this off at one series I will...not be amused. Well, what do you expect? I'm British!
In just over 8 minutes I got more feels than in 2 whole seasons of Discovery. Love this show, has even more impact with the jokes edited (though I love those too!)
Wow! Just when you thought we reached a dead end for Star Trec......I mean how many story lines and plots can you come up with... Then THIS is happening. I am amazed: Good stories, mixed finally with some humor, without becoming ridiculous (in most cases); plus seriously good film work. I am hopping for many more episodes. It's worth it. I just ordered the first DVD set, because we can not watch it here in Canada YET. Just love it! It's such a worthy StarTrec series and demonstrates how film work in this universe can evolve, without really competing with any previous works.
I thought The Orville would be a show mocking sci-fi shows somewhat in line with Galaxy Quest. But these snippets tell a different story. Now I am curious :P
It does have those moments but it does a good job of balancing the comedy with the serious aspect of the show. So its not ever just comedy and dumb goofs like a family guy in space. I'd deffinently give it a watch.
I love this show. It's only one of two shows I even bother watching on TV (The other is Lucifer). Please FOX don't cancel this show, You've got a great show.
Fantastic summary video, the music and scenes were mixed beautifully. Well paced, I found it as exciting as movie trailers. I hope you do another one of these for the second 6 episodes, just seeing what scenes you match to music to sum up each episode would be wonderful to view. Bravo or Brava, whichever you are, well done!
Ken Harris Of course not, everyone knows you're not allowed to have opinions that are different then everyone else's, by which I mean the few passionate nerds who actually bother posting comments (I'm being sarcastic. like both, go ahead.)
The best thing Orville also has going for it is that they are not a streaming platform exclusive meaning they are able to reach a lot more people and not forced to only cater to the hardcore Trek fans.
I love the humour in it because it is just like what a normal day at the office is. Who doesn't joke around with their mates and enjoy themselves when they are at work. If anything the humour makes this show more real that shows that take themselves too seriously.
Honestly, some of these episodes were deep, like really deep. Treading on these topics in this day and age almost guarantees backlash for something or the other. I'm glad The Orville tackles these situation and makes it a solid successor to Star Trek also gives a lot to think about.
Just binge watched the 1st season on DVD. To me, it felt like a combination of Galaxy Quest and Next Generation with a sprinkling of Deadpool thrown in. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to the 2nd season DVD release.
I agree, it's very much like someone who grew up deeply in love with Galaxy Quest and TNG decided to make a new space opera. Which is cool because that's exactly what it is.
Finally we have an amazing sci-fi show that can be tongue in cheek one moment and serious as hell the next. The episode "Krill" just left me saying WOW! It was just that good. Looking at some of the comments, I'm wondering if there is talk of canceling this show after just these few episodes. If that is true, you are passing up the chance to have the next "Star Trek"/Dr.Who franchise. That kind of opportunity doesn't come along very often. Give it sometime and you will see this blossom into another 50 year money maker! It really is the best sci-fi on the air right now and we haven't really even gotten to know these characters yet.
Been watching all Star Trek and takeoffs since 1968. This looks like a breath of fresh new air that was designed as a joke, and is morphing into something much more. Kudos...and I never say that about Fox anything.
It's been a while since I heard Two Steps from Hell, least of all Heart of Courage...nice. Also when you compress down each episode like this, it really does give a solid breakdown of what the series has managed in just the first half of its season... Fox would be idiots to cancel this.
This show is so awesome, just getting around to seeing S1 (bought it on DVD since it's not On Demand where I live). I really like how I knew the bridge officers by the 2nd episode while I still don't know half of Discovery's bridge crew 2 seasons in. The main cast is all awesome though my favorites are probably Isaac and Alara. I haven't been able to watch any of Orville S2 but I hear it's even better, can't wait!
The first episode was shaky enough (in light of the Orville hype preceding the airing) I was a bit concerned. Every episode since has gotten so much better than the one before you can officially stop getting better. Thank you for making televised sci-fi great again. No less, The Orville is the first old fashioned TV series I have watched at all (except South Park) in a decade or more.
Agreed...Thanks so much Seth, cast, and crew. So much fun to see the show every week. The humor is perfect, as is the action and intelligent storylines. Very much respect to Gene R. Well done.

Don't you dare cancel this show.
Nope. That's simply not true. FOX for sure does cancel a lot of genre shows. But that is only due to FOX being the network brave enough to give them a chance in the first place.
Don't forget Space: Above and Beyond😐
krazipynaple If I remember right, Space: Above and Beyond was such a metaphor for the Vietnam war that it must have been very uncomfortable viewing for Americans.
Daniel Appleton The horror of it! To quote a character from Blazing Saddles, "DO WHAT HE SAYS, DO WHAT HE SAYS! " XD
We must fight STD !
Star Trek spirit must stay alive !
THE ORVILLE must continue !
In just over 8 minutes I got more feels than in 2 whole seasons of Discovery. Love this show, has even more impact with the jokes edited (though I love those too!)
Best show on TV now!
One of the best anyways :)
The best is 'the Expanse'. This one is good, though.
It's fuckin' dogshit, sadly.
This Star Trek fan of 50 years is OFFENDED by this mocking degenerate trash !!
@@atrociousconsequences4432 Star Trek fan of 43yrs and I love this show! Thank you Orville!!!
It does what SpaceBalls did, but in TV form.
@pinkdiamond82 And Axanar was and IS much better
I was raised with the original. Saw all of the Jean Luc Picard shows, to include every movie made. The actual show is outstanding. Well done Seth.
Brilliant show! My favorite new show. Looking forward to next season ♥️♥️♥️
Is... is that the Mass Effect Soundtrack in the background at the beginning?
... and at the end?
Yeah it was. The music that starts at around 1:40 was also from Mass Effect. Every time I hear the music it makes me want to play the game.
is it...the anime or the game ?
Yes! It is. "Normandy Reborn" from Mass Effect 2.
Wow. This show is hilarious and thought provoking with the whole ethical complexities. Might get the app jus to check this show out
amazing show so glad this is continuing hopefully for many many seasons
I love this show. It's only one of two shows I even bother watching on TV (The other is Lucifer). Please FOX don't cancel this show, You've got a great show.
will always laugh at mercer's reaction to 'I have laid an egg' ...so funny
Such a good show. Looking forward to more to come for years to come. 😀
Thank you for this show. I've not enjoyed a show this much in a long time.
Okay, Im going to be watching this now! This looks great! Thanks for the links!
I love this show. Love that mix of comedy and drama.
I love this show!
Best show that's been made in years.
We miss you crew of The Orville. Come back soon.
Seth is just pure amazing. Awesome show!
I love this show. Fair dues to Seth for getting this off the ground. May we see many more seasons of this fine show!
Amazing cut!
Take out all the comedy, and it's STILL a great show!
More Star Trek than what CBS offers...
Ken Harris Of course not, everyone knows you're not allowed to have opinions that are different then everyone else's, by which I mean the few passionate nerds who actually bother posting comments (I'm being sarcastic. like both, go ahead.)
Ken Harris So THAT'S why they feel so star trek. Dang, hopefully they'll have some more original plots next season.
This Star Trek fan of 50 years is OFFENDED by this mocking degenerate trash !!
I agree totally
The best thing Orville also has going for it is that they are not a streaming platform exclusive meaning they are able to reach a lot more people and not forced to only cater to the hardcore Trek fans.
THIS IS A REALLY GOOD SHOW! LOOKING FORWARD TO SEASON 2. Oh.. apologies.. I had the all caps on. It won't happen again Captain Mercer.
I've only recently heard of this show, but I'm glad I did. It looks like it'll be worth watching.
Love this show! Cant wait for season 3!
I love the humour in it because it is just like what a normal day at the office is. Who doesn't joke around with their mates and enjoy themselves when they are at work. If anything the humour makes this show more real that shows that take themselves too seriously.
Please Fox, pretty please, pretty please with jam and cream on it, please give The Orville a second series and hopefully many more. Thank you.
Finally they have after uncertain thinking by FOX
The only show I make time to see....every week.
Best Sci Fi show on TV ever!
Honestly, some of these episodes were deep, like really deep. Treading on these topics in this day and age almost guarantees backlash for something or the other. I'm glad The Orville tackles these situation and makes it a solid successor to Star Trek also gives a lot to think about.
Great series! We are so lucky to have two new Star Trek Series available now!
i'm so hyped for season 2.Seth Macfarlane, dont fail us, now.
Best show ever more seasons pls
I love that you guys are highlighting the drama of the show... Thats the riveting part... Good job and good luck
Why is this more enjoyable than any Star Trek show or movie in the past 20 years?
It's been renewed for a second season already.
All Hail AVIS!
Love this show. Best ensemble cast of the new season.
I am really hoping they get scale model of this ship to buy real soon. I really like the sleek look it has and engine displacement.
WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL... WE WANT MORE...
4TH, 5TH, 6TH AND 7TH SEASONS AND MOVIES TO BOOT!!!
BRING IT BACK...
Great show
The Orville and The Expanse are the two greatest things in recent years that we scifi fans have got.
Fox now not available in Canada! Luckily the Orville is on cable tv here. ❤️
Agreed...Thanks so much Seth, cast, and crew. So much fun to see the show every week. The humor is perfect, as is the action and intelligent storylines. Very much respect to Gene R. Well done.
