Agreed. The Legend of Zelda series has a whole host of characters that come to mind that have potential for movesets outside of the bearers of the triforce. Skull Kid and Midna come to mind, along with any of the champions (previous or their successors) from BotW, Kass, Impa, Vaati, and more. but really if we get a new Zelda rep we all know it's gonna be Tetra. Which I'd take over pretty much any other version of Zelda but still.
This is why I don’t like leakers. Leakers were saying we are gonna get Geno, Dante, Shantae, and Crash in Fighters Pass 1. What did we get? Joker, Terry, and Byleth. Did many people ask for those characters? No. Did we enjoy them anyway? Obviously. All these leakers saying all these popular characters are getting in just aren’t credible.

If you're saying that Mr Game & Watch didn't have moveset potential, then neither did Mario. All Mario had to make a moveset was his specials. the rest were (mostly) created entirely for smash. I agree with the other choices though.
@ Con Sakurai stated that Pac-Man was suggested by Miyamoto to be the other third party rep in SSBB. However Sakurai went against the idea because Pac-Man’s classic design was too bizarre even for him to make a fighter out of. As seen with Mii, Villager & Isabelle Sakurai clearly has shown that he’s able to make fighters out of characters he thought was previously unimaginable Piranha Plant is still the last character anyone could’ve imagined since it’s a basic enemy type and it isn’t even a major character in its own series. @ [GD] Thedonkeybucket Mr Game & Watch wasn’t even a character before SSBM so that’s not even comparable. Mario clearly had plenty of moves to pull from whereas Mr Game & Watch had to be created as a composite from the amalgamation of different titles in the G&W line in order to be added to the roster into one individual character. The only reason Mr Game & Watch can even be seen as a fighter is specifically because Super Smash Bros partially created him whereas a character like Mario can be easily seen as a fighter even before SSB was a thing.
Sjono wasn’t mr game and watch made in 1980, having most of, if not all of his moves taken from his games? And where was mario seen as a fighter before SSB?
I always found the assist trophy ‘rule’ more plausible than the spirit ‘rule’ because assist trophies had way more development put into them with modelling, animating and deciding on actions whereas spirits were just programming a status condition and a battle with conditions that are likely just tick boxes on a list of options.
Now that Spirits can officially be fighters, Shantae would be my most wanted pick in this Fighters Pass or even Fighters Pass Vol. 3 if Sakurai really wants to make one
"A character with a gun can't be in Smash." Guys... Samus was in the first Smash game and her arm cannon counts as a gun. Not really sure where that logic comes from.
A small rebuttal to some of the points in the video: He often says that the dev team wouldn’t pick a character that is “too hard” to design. If that were true, would they have given Hero over a dozen spells? Would they have given Minmin simultaneous control of her arms? They don’t pick characters because they would be easy to develop. Secondly, Phoenix Wright’s moveset being open for interpretation makes him more likely, not less. It means the team can take him in any direction they want. An obvious character moveset just means they have to do it a specific way which can be harder if it ends up not working well. With a character like Phoenix, they have a lot more freedom to make the character both fun and viable.
To be fair I didn't edit this video. HOWEVER either way, I largely talk about the gameplay style of DMC so it being a different character doesn't matter too much in that context as long as the gameplay is the focus.

dill man But Bandana Dee is the most relevant, and has been a main character for years now. Daroach only appears in Squeak Squad, a sub game, and Star Allies. Sure, they have cool movesets, but nobody would really pick the other characters from Kirby if they weren’t DLC in Star Allies.

My personal thoughts are: Dante would be very cool just conceptually since there's so much potential Phoenix may be a weird challenge to make a moveset from but keep in mind this is the same game series that has Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Pac Man in it so I think it'd be fine since there's plenty of possibilities. Spyro I would like to see in but I do worry for his chances mainly since one of his primary mechanics is gliding and thats not exactly a thing smash used past brawl. And for the shooter, Doom Slayer all the way. He has a ton of weapon choices, is very animated, has a cartoon vibe to him by design that lets him fit well in smash, and on top of that basically every Doom game has been on a Nintendo console. Hell they had a single game that was designed for the N64.
They could make gliding work if they just nerf it (like how Knuckles' gliding got nerfed in Sonic '06, RIP), so that Spyro can't glide from one side of the stage to the other.

Here's a genre that's unrepresented in Smash: The Shoot Them Up Genre. And unless Nintendo somehow makes the Gradius Ship (I think it was called Vic Viper or something like that) playable, I can only think of one series that could get in...

In still hopeful for Travis Touchdown. I think he actually has a decent shot with No More Heroes 3 coming out soon. His moveset potential is huge too! I would recommend checking out the Rivals of Aether Workshop, theres a Travis Touchdown character mod that is pretty cool if i do say so myself :]
My guesses for FP2: 1. Crash Bandicoot ( New game coming out, major history with Nintendo, tons of weapons and moves to choose from, would be make Smash Ultimate even more iconic than it is since it would have Mario, Sonic and Crash in 1 game plus N Sane Trilogy and Nitro Fueled both have done well on Switch) 2. Dante (All reasons mentioned, iconic character since his series started the modern hack and slash, PS2 trilogy already on Switch and has TONS of weapons to choose from to make him more than just another sword fighter) 3. A Bandai Namco character (either Jin from Tekken or Lloyd Irving from the Tales of series. Both series re still getting regular releases with Tekken 7 still getting DLC and Tales Of Arise coming out. Both characters are the face of their series as well. Me personally, if I had to choose, while I do have more affiliation for the Tales Of series, I really do think Jin would be a better inclusion. Plus having another game with a Tekken character, a Street Fighter character, a KOF character and a FF character would be funny because the chances of that happening once was already low enough, but 2 would be insane) 4. Rayman (Rayman has a big history on Nintendo, Rayman Legends is already on Switch and I just really like Rayman) 5. A gen 8 Pokémon rep (don’t want one, but it’s very likely since Gen 8 sold crazy well and Nintendo is gonna want to promote the DLC as much as possible) Mind you though, while I don’t think all of these are wrong, there is a very good chance that at least some or all of them could be considering, I mean who could have predicted the characters we got in FP 1 except for Byleth.
Given how Heihachi was the only Tekken rep (and Namco, outside Pac-Man) to be ever explicitly considered and didn't joined (Mii and Taunt) then I doubt both Lloyd and Jin would join... Sad, because having Heihachi would not only be a perfect tribute to his VA (outside Incineroar) but having another fighting icon on the roster

As I mentioned in my comment, of the 2 of them, I would rather Jin be in than Lloyd because I think his moveset would be pretty cool. Plus Tekken is the 3rd best selling fighting game franchise ever. On top of that, I could see getting in since Bandai makes them game and their only rep is their oldest character in Pac-Man
I want red from angry birds. Here be the trailer: It will start with bowser jr waiting at the table with a fork and knife in his hands. It would zoom out to bowser cooking some eggs which would not be cracked since the pigs don’t do it. It would then cut to a view from red’s eyes where he is shot out of the slingshot. Which would make fans of red think it’s him. While also being a reference to the angry birds 2 trailer. I should also mention that it will keep cutting to red flying at the castle. You would then hear some crashing as bowser and jr walk out to the balcony to see what’s going on. Bowser then points at the unseen threat and let’s out a huge roar. It then cuts to cannons firing and airships flying while more of the castle starts to get attacked. Then some of airships start to fall out of the sky as the koopalings and bowser jr start to fly at it in there clone cars. But then a shadowy figure comes at them knocking all of them out of the air. It then cuts to bowser flying his clone car. Until it changes to red’s view as he is about to land on bowser, until it changes bowser’s view and red crashes into bowser’s face in slow motion. Red then lands on the ground and screams with the smash splash screen appearing either saying “red crashes the party” “red gets angry” or “red is fired up” Then it cuts to gameplay. The trailer will end with bowser laying on the ground in defeat until a shadow walks up to him. It switches to bowsers view where red is looking very *TRIGGERED* until it cuts to a view from far away where we see a massive explosion in the far distance. I just want to mention that the ending is a reference to if I’m correct the very first angry birds trailer. Here be my red moveset: -Jumps: 2 -Weight: 87 -Walking speed: About the same as meta knights -Running speed: Almost as high as sonic (turns into Chuck for the run) -Movement options: None. Also I should also mention that red is able to pick stuff up. As in angry birds toons they are shown having items kinda levitate there as if the birds had invisible arms. -Jab: 3 pecks forward, last one does the most. -Dash attack: Chuck uses his dash. -Side tilt: Beak swipe -Up tilt: Peck upwards -Down tilt: Downwards peck -Side smash: Red uses his sword from Angry birds epic and swings it forwards. If fully charged red will instead do a powerful leap forwards, inference to his rage chilly attack. -Up smash: The blues use their rage chili attack from Angry birds epic and throw eggs upwards that explode. The eggs are thrown at the same time, not individually. -Down smash: Red pulls out the rubber duck card and summons 3 rubber ducks above himself that fall straight down. The ducks don't do much damage but they do have good knock back, they also can fall off the platform if used at the edge much like villager's side smash. -Neutral ariel: Bubbles puffs up. -Forward ariel: Red uses his sword from Angry birds epic and swings it forwards -Back ariel: Stella swings her wand backwards creating a little bubble trail -Up ariel: bomb ignites the top of his head. -Down ariel: Silver does her spin and ground pound. What else would it be? This attack will spike if it hits right the falling portion of the move. -Grab: A slingshot appears out of nowhere and red puts a foe in. -Pummel: red head buts them with the top of the head -Forward throw: Chuck gets launched behind the foe. Then Chuck sprints through the foe launching them forward at a diagonal angle. -Back throw: Hal gets launched in front of the foe. Then Hal uses his boomerang attack on the foe which sends them backwards. -Up throw: Bubbles gets launched underneath the foe. Then he puffs up sending the foe upwards. -Down throw: Terrance's cousin Tony gets launched above the foe. Then does his ground pound on the foe, barring them. Or spiking if above the blast zone. -Neutral special: A slingshot appears and red launches a chosen bird out. Which one it is depends on how long you hold the button. The first is the blues who will be shot as one but then split apart into 3 upon tapping the button again. Next is Chuck who will speed up upon hitting the button. Next is ice bird (he has no name) who will freeze foes he comes into contact with and explodes when hitting the button. Finally there's Terrance who is just really big and powerful. -Side special: Red shoots himself out of the slingshot. You can choose which angle he gets fired in. It will be shown where he gets launched by white pellets. When red gets launched you can't cancel it, though he does small damage to hit foes. If red hits a wall he will bounce off. If this move is used in the air red descents slower while in the slingshot and after he gets launched the slingshot falls down and slightly damage foes like sonic's spring. Just for quirks, when ever red gets launched he makes his iconic yell. One more thing about the move, if red were to hit a breakable part of the stage he will automatically break it and be put out of the move. -Up special: Matilda jumps into the air leaving an explosive egg behind her. If the egg comes into contact with a foe or the ground it explodes. Matilda gets launched at a slight diagonal angle and is put into a free fall. Matilda being shot upwards does do damage. This moves function is more similar to robins up special than bowser jr’s and mii gunner’s. -Down special: Red places bomb down. Bomb will explode after a few seconds or by pressing the button again. Bomb is stationery and can't be attacked. When bomb turns red that means he's about to explode. Red is also hurt by the explosion. But if red holds down the b button, he will instead summon Shockwave. Bomb turned into shock wave after he stepped into some chemicals that the pigs were experimenting with while holding the eggs in their science lab. Shockwave acts the same way normal bomb does except he causes a electric shockwave that is bigger and more powerful than the explosion normal bomb makes. But it still hurts red so be careful. Only one bomb can be on screen at a time. And red has to wait 5 seconds to place him again. -Final smash: For Red's final smash he call upon the mighty eagle. It can be a cinematic final smash that starts with Red pulling out the sardines and throwing it. Anybody hit by it will be pulled into a cut scene. In the cut scene the caught foes are in the pig's fortess filled with TNT!!!! Then out of nowhere the sardines lands on the fortress causing the mighty eagle to land on the fortress crushing the poor foes and creating a huge explosion that does massive damage and sends the foe back in to battle!!! -Stage intro: Red destroys the pig's fortress sitting on the stage. Then he lands on the stage. -Costumes: (some of the birds didn't have the costumes because they didn't appear in those games so new ones have to be made or have ones based off some of the ones I didn’t use in angry birds seasons and angry birds 2. Also Tony will not have new ones made and just copy Terrance. One more thing, all the birds will be in their angry birds toon designs) 1 basic design 2 Angry birds epic costumes (I'm just gonna mention that Terrance will have the wingman outfit for this one. Also the blues will each have the own smaller costume for this one since before they were stacked on top of each other but here they won't be.) 3 angry birds space costumes (All beyond this point are from Angry birds 2) 4 beach hats 5 party hats 6 fantasy hats 7 fruit shade hats 8 pig hats -Side taunt: Red yells. -Up taunt: A pig trys to sneak up on red and steal the egg only for red to turn around and scare the pig away. -Down taunt: Red hides a egg behind his back, then looks to the right and to the left just to make sure no one will steal it. -Victory animation 1: All the birds jump around the eggs excitedly as 3 stars appear above them, and you will hear their iconic cheer you get when you complete a level. -Victory animation 2: The pigs are holding the eggs in their fortress. Luckily red launches himself into it and destroys it, bringing the eggs back home -Victory animation 3: Red stomps on a pig while holding the eggs on top of his head. -Losing animation: since he has no hands he can’t clap. So he would just have a temper tantrum cause he’s an angry bird. -Boxing ring title: The feathers of furious -Stage: randomly set up angry birds levels kinda of like the Mario maker. -Classic mode: Protect the eggs. Red has to go through many battles on the angry birds stage while being teamed up with 3 small white kirbys that do nothing and are supposed to represent the eggs, if any of them die you lose. Each fight would have characters that reference the kinds of pigs you have to pop, for example the first battle will have you face off against a bunch little green kirbys that represent the little tiny pigs you see at the beginning of the game, or the second to last battle will have you face off against a red k rool that represents elporkador. The final battle is a against beast Gannon because he is part pig so he represents king pig. -Kirby hat: Red's tail, beak, eyebrows and the hair on top of red's head. Or all of that turned into a hat like the Pokemon. -Series icon: Egg or slingshot

Vixen I do agree angry birds might be dead. Since they deleted the old games and replaced them with games that don’t even follow the original format. But people were requesting Steve even before pewdiepie brought minecraft back and when it was still dead. And I just would like to see him in smash because it’s my childhood and they might be the best option for a mobile rep. Also I’m not the only one who wants them.
Seriously, folks are still waiting on a Bandai Namco Character! It's crazy how they don't already have someone outside of Pac-Man. Personally I'd love Agumon or some kinda Digimon so we could get the Pokémon VS. Digimon dynamic but there's a ton of other game choices like Klonoa, Katamari, Tekken or Soulcalibur, Xenosaga, the Tales of series, and more!

I’ve always wanted a monster hunter rep and a lot of people say that it would be THE hunter But min min kinda showed us that any “rules” we thought there were to prevent the game from breaking do not necessarily exist so know what? I want one of the monsters in smash. Put Velkhana in and make her an icy Ridley or put rajang in and make him a buff Pikachu or something idk
I'd be really happy if Steve, Bandana Dee and (specially) Tails got in just for my personal love but i don't think any of them are likely to be dlc. That said, i place my bets on Crash. The remakes and the new game made him pretty relevant. Good luck Crash fans!

MK: If Bayonetta wasn't real I would say that is impossible. Vega would be possible to represent Shada-Lu (I don't know how to write) Guile is funny. Probable.
I really want Nathan Drake and Cole Macgrath, but they are in Playstation AllStars, although Im not sure if that kills their chances because Heihachi is a mii and TEKKEN has never been on a Nintendo console. But...why isn’t Heihachi in? And Raiden from Metal Gear is in AllStars but Raiden is inly a spirit. Dante is in AllStars and isn’t represented but he at least has a game in Switch. So maybe they just need to have a game on a Nintendo console? Snake, Cloud, and Joker are considered playstation icons, which they are, but each of them have at least one game on a nintendo console even if their latest games are PlayStation exclusives. But, nobody can confirm whether or not a character can join, only Nintendo themselves can say it.
My realistic predictions for FP2 are: - Gen 8 Pokémon - Travis Touchdown - Monster Hunter protagonist (Male and female) - Dragonborn - Either Lloyd Irving, KOS-MOS, or Klonoa as a Namco rep
I feel like crash has a better chance than dragon born imo not just cause popularity but Nostalgia, you see this game with characters like pacman, sonic, megaman and banjo, gaming icons. So you figure it would make sense to include crash cause it feels right and he belongs and he could be very unique
The sad thing is, if Crash or any other character that people want get into smash, they will prob give them the most lame, annoying or even down right boring move set like what they did with Banjo and Kazooie.

Actually... assist trophy characters could be possible, as far as I know, little Mac was an assist trophy in brawl and then in smash 4 was a fully playable character, but then again, if we are getting an assist trophy character, we will have to wait until next game

The characters I mainly want are the knight from Hollow Knight, Hat Kid from A Hat in Time, and Ori from Ori and the blind forest, but if it can't be an indie character then I want Bandana Dee from Kirby.
All I want is for Reimu to be apart of the pass somewhere, then the others could be anything for all I care. Although Zero in his MMZ incarnation would be cool too.
Max Pietron I think that every franchise with one fighter should get a buddy because many like Captain Falcon, Solid Snake, Megaman and Sonic have been alone. I personally want a new Metal Gear character but that only would happen if Konami wanted to bring over Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to the switch and promote it.
Dante: I don't mind seeing Dante in smash I've been playing DMC since I was a kid and I know more about Dante than Bayonetta. Phoenix Wright: I'm not trying to be that person but I hope Phoenix Wright doesn't show up in Smash maybe an Assist trophy but this is my opinion. Spyro: I haven't played too much Spyro games but I don't mind seeing him in Smash I think I played more Crash than Spyro but like I said I don't mind. The only option for Shooters is Doom. Halo and TF2 doesn't have games on Nintendo while Doom pretty much have all games on Nintendo and right now are available on Switch. Besides, Halo is a failure on Japan and XBOX is nowhere interested on Nintendo anymore. God I want Geno
Wait a second. This might be the last smash game. Imagine if the last character was a assist trophy upgraded too an fighter. And this would be insane cause that is the last character we get no more. It’s the end of smash and the people who wanted other characters too be no longer a trophy. Will just be never happening.
When I talk about "fan rules" as something implied I get too many people calling me dumb but face it. It was all possible for Spring Man to become playable and he didn't. That's a sign we won't get Assist Trophies into playable fighters. I know for most it's just memes but there are 100% serious ones who would do anything for this and I don't want them ultimately disappointed
Exactly. I think Assist Trophies act as Semi-confirmed fighters, meaning that they were a potential candidate, but they didn't have the proper grounds to make the translation. @@ladylunaginaofgames40 Actually you wanna know something ? You know what Shadow, Zero, Guile and Alucard all have in common ? They could easily become great playable fighters but look. Sonic has no Echo nor Other Sonic rep. Tails, Knuckles or Shadow were all candidates of choice but because none of them was as similar to Sonic in their home games they couldn't become Echoes and they couldn't become their own fighters either, because it would be too much attention to Sonic franchise. Zero is the same. Proto Man would have apparently work as an Echo but Sakurai didn't do it like this. Guile is his own fighter,but Ryu has Ken for Echo, so technically if you stack echoes up it's 1 series, 1 slot, 2 characters, 1.5 moveset. And finally Alucard was supposed to be the Castlevania rep but Sakurai thought he should add Simon instead, as they both had potential to be their own fighters Sakurai chose Simon and added Richter as Simon's echo. And that's the terrifying curse of Third party Assist Trophies

The character I want the most is someone from Rhythm Heaven, specifically Karate Joe for me but I'd accept anyone. The fact that the Chorus Kids were planned for Smash 4 made me hopeful for Ultimate, as well as the ghosts from Sneaky Spirits being enemies in smash run, but now the Rhythm Heaven franchise is seemingly at a standstill, so I'm not holding my breath.

@Bayonetta Darkrai 103 Lemme elucidate why this is logistically impossible. Suppose they added, let's say Black Knight to the game as a DLC fighter. What do you do about the Black Knight Assist Trophy? Many people will say "oh, some assist trophies are context sensitive, and are removed from the summoning pool based on certain conditions. just remove black knight" okay, but based on what condition? "why, if someone is playing as black knight on the stage, of course!" well no, that doesn't quite track. if i'm playing mario fighting ness, it still makes no sense for a black knight AS to show up in the context that i COULDVE been playing as him. the entire point of assist trophies is "we're not playable, but you can summon us to help". it's a consolation prize. you can't be a consolation summon AND in the game. therefore, the only thing that could work is deleting black knight from the summoning pool, permanently. but do you do that when someone download the black knight fighter pack? or do you do that as part of an update so it effects everyone, even those who hadn't bought the pack? the former is problematic because you are essentially making people pay to have a part of their game taken away from them. the latter is problematic because you've taken something away from people who didn't even ask for it. it's a lose lose. there's also the fact nobody likes to think about that assist trophies were things created by someone. teams made that black knight model, coded his AI, balanced his knockback. His inclusion was a labor of love. You think they're going to AXE all that? For THIS character of all things? Now, replace Black Knight with waluigi, or isaac, or shovel knight, or anybody that people have actually been asking for. All those problems are still there. this isn't like spirits, it's not a jpeg with numbers attached that, it's... an inclusion. Assist Trophy are literally already in super smash bros. They are not going to "get in" because they're already here, they're not going to magically "get in again but harder".
My personal picks are probably Faith Connors (it's never gonna happen but I want it) Jeane Cuphead/Mugman Black Mage, of really any retro rep And scout.

I don't like the argument you use for spyro. First it's a wish list you did last time and I think you should put the character you want rather than the character you guess. If it is the character you guess then it's a figther pass prediction, not a wish list. It does not have to be logical, smash is not the game awards, it is a fighting game where INTERACTIONS between characters from different liscence make the game amazing. The characters you should value the most are not the most logical ones but the ones you would prefer play as them, the ones you would love to see the most interract with other fighters.
I hope we can get at least one new Sonic rep, I hope it's Tails as he's my favorite Sonic character. Though Eggman would be cool too. Edit: Yes, I know Tails is in the background of the Green Hill Zone stage, but maybe when playing as him on said stage, maybe another Sonic character like Amy could replace him.
If stages and assists deconfirm characters Tails,Silver,Shadow and Knuckles are deconfirmed so I want Blaze or Espio but Amy could work as the 3rd hammer fighter too

But stages probably don't deconfirm characters as when you play as any of the Links on the Spirit Train stage, Alfonzo will be conducting instead. So Tails does have a chance (well Silver does too but seeing how he was introduced in the Modern era it's pretty unlikely)
Unpopular opinion: I want Lester Crest from GTA V, Grookey from Pokemon SW/SH, Ryley Robinson from Subnautica, Cal Kestis from Jedi Fallen Order, and Big Daddy from Bioshock.
With the recent Shin Megami Tensei announcements I got my hopes up again wishing to see some representation in Smash. My personal picks are either Demi-fiend from SMT Nocturne, or Flynn from SMT IV. However, I would also appreciate SMT V (despite he being kinda unprobable unless Sakurai gets early access to SMT V) or even Jack Frost!

@Alan Bulk Sakurai himself has said Waluigi won't be playable because he's an assist in Smash 4. And throughout all Smash games since Brawl. No character has been an assist AND a playable character in the same game. Little Mac, Isabelle and Dark Samus all their assists removed when playable and that was usually entirely new games from their debut like Brawl to Smash 4. Spring Man could've broke the "rule" yet Min Min was easily prioritized by both Sakurai and the ARMS developer. Only delusional idiots still try to push this bullshit about ATs having a shot. Sakurai stated that Pac-Man was suggested by Miyamoto to be the other third party rep in SSBB. However Sakurai went against the idea because Pac-Man’s classic design was too bizarre even for him to make a fighter out of. As seen with Mii, Villager & Isabelle Sakurai clearly has shown that he’s able to make fighters out of characters he thought was previously unimaginable

Mr Game & Watch wasn’t even a character before SSBM so that’s not even comparable.
Mario clearly had plenty of moves to pull from whereas Mr Game & Watch had to be created as a composite from the amalgamation of different titles in the G&W line in order to be added to the roster into one individual character.
The only reason Mr Game & Watch can even be seen as a fighter is specifically because Super Smash Bros partially created him whereas a character like Mario can be easily seen as a fighter even before SSB was a thing.
Sjono wasn’t mr game and watch made in 1980, having most of, if not all of his moves taken from his games? And where was mario seen as a fighter before SSB?

I always found the assist trophy ‘rule’ more plausible than the spirit ‘rule’ because assist trophies had way more development put into them with modelling, animating and deciding on actions whereas spirits were just programming a status condition and a battle with conditions that are likely just tick boxes on a list of options.

A small rebuttal to some of the points in the video:
He often says that the dev team wouldn’t pick a character that is “too hard” to design. If that were true, would they have given Hero over a dozen spells? Would they have given Minmin simultaneous control of her arms? They don’t pick characters because they would be easy to develop.
Secondly, Phoenix Wright’s moveset being open for interpretation makes him more likely, not less. It means the team can take him in any direction they want. An obvious character moveset just means they have to do it a specific way which can be harder if it ends up not working well. With a character like Phoenix, they have a lot more freedom to make the character both fun and viable.
Monster Hunter is so close to being in. We already have a stage, assist trophy, boss fight, and music. This is all I want!

My personal thoughts are:
Dante would be very cool just conceptually since there's so much potential
Phoenix may be a weird challenge to make a moveset from but keep in mind this is the same game series that has Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Pac Man in it so I think it'd be fine since there's plenty of possibilities.
Spyro I would like to see in but I do worry for his chances mainly since one of his primary mechanics is gliding and thats not exactly a thing smash used past brawl.
And for the shooter, Doom Slayer all the way. He has a ton of weapon choices, is very animated, has a cartoon vibe to him by design that lets him fit well in smash, and on top of that basically every Doom game has been on a Nintendo console. Hell they had a single game that was designed for the N64.
Some of Pac-Man's moves come from or reference him in the Pac-Man World Trilogy.
They could make gliding work if they just nerf it (like how Knuckles' gliding got nerfed in Sonic '06, RIP), so that Spyro can't glide from one side of the stage to the other.
Based on who I both would like to see and think would be very likely, My Pass would be:
-Ryu Hyabusa (Ninja Gaiden and DOA series)
-Travis Touchdown (No More Heroes series)
-Doom Guy/Slayer (Doom series)
-Sora or Roxas (Kingdom Hearts series)

My guesses for FP2:
1. Crash Bandicoot ( New game coming out, major history with Nintendo, tons of weapons and moves to choose from, would be make Smash Ultimate even more iconic than it is since it would have Mario, Sonic and Crash in 1 game plus N Sane Trilogy and Nitro Fueled both have done well on Switch)
2. Dante (All reasons mentioned, iconic character since his series started the modern hack and slash, PS2 trilogy already on Switch and has TONS of weapons to choose from to make him more than just another sword fighter)
3. A Bandai Namco character (either Jin from Tekken or Lloyd Irving from the Tales of series. Both series re still getting regular releases with Tekken 7 still getting DLC and Tales Of Arise coming out. Both characters are the face of their series as well. Me personally, if I had to choose, while I do have more affiliation for the Tales Of series, I really do think Jin would be a better inclusion. Plus having another game with a Tekken character, a Street Fighter character, a KOF character and a FF character would be funny because the chances of that happening once was already low enough, but 2 would be insane)
4. Rayman (Rayman has a big history on Nintendo, Rayman Legends is already on Switch and I just really like Rayman)
5. A gen 8 Pokémon rep (don’t want one, but it’s very likely since Gen 8 sold crazy well and Nintendo is gonna want to promote the DLC as much as possible)
Mind you though, while I don’t think all of these are wrong, there is a very good chance that at least some or all of them could be considering, I mean who could have predicted the characters we got in FP 1 except for Byleth.
Given how Heihachi was the only Tekken rep (and Namco, outside Pac-Man) to be ever explicitly considered and didn't joined (Mii and Taunt) then I doubt both Lloyd and Jin would join... Sad, because having Heihachi would not only be a perfect tribute to his VA (outside Incineroar) but having another fighting icon on the roster

As I mentioned in my comment, of the 2 of them, I would rather Jin be in than Lloyd because I think his moveset would be pretty cool. Plus Tekken is the 3rd best selling fighting game franchise ever. On top of that, I could see getting in since Bandai makes them game and their only rep is their oldest character in Pac-Man

I want red from angry birds.
Here be the trailer:
It will start with bowser jr waiting at the table with a fork and knife in his hands. It would zoom out to bowser cooking some eggs which would not be cracked since the pigs don’t do it. It would then cut to a view from red’s eyes where he is shot out of the slingshot. Which would make fans of red think it’s him. While also being a reference to the angry birds 2 trailer. I should also mention that it will keep cutting to red flying at the castle. You would then hear some crashing as bowser and jr walk out to the balcony to see what’s going on. Bowser then points at the unseen threat and let’s out a huge roar. It then cuts to cannons firing and airships flying while more of the castle starts to get attacked. Then some of airships start to fall out of the sky as the koopalings and bowser jr start to fly at it in there clone cars. But then a shadowy figure comes at them knocking all of them out of the air. It then cuts to bowser flying his clone car. Until it changes to red’s view as he is about to land on bowser, until it changes bowser’s view and red crashes into bowser’s face in slow motion. Red then lands on the ground and screams with the smash splash screen appearing either saying “red crashes the party” “red gets angry” or “red is fired up” Then it cuts to gameplay. The trailer will end with bowser laying on the ground in defeat until a shadow walks up to him. It switches to bowsers view where red is looking very *TRIGGERED* until it cuts to a view from far away where we see a massive explosion in the far distance. I just want to mention that the ending is a reference to if I’m correct the very first angry birds trailer.
Here be my red moveset:
-Jumps: 2
-Weight: 87
-Walking speed: About the same as meta knights
-Running speed: Almost as high as sonic (turns into Chuck for the run)
-Movement options: None. Also I should also mention that red is able to pick stuff up. As in angry birds toons they are shown having items kinda levitate there as if the birds had invisible arms.
-Jab: 3 pecks forward, last one does the most.
-Dash attack: Chuck uses his dash.
-Side tilt: Beak swipe
-Up tilt: Peck upwards
-Down tilt: Downwards peck
-Side smash: Red uses his sword from Angry birds epic and swings it forwards. If fully charged red will instead do a powerful leap forwards, inference to his rage chilly attack.
-Up smash: The blues use their rage chili attack from Angry birds epic and throw eggs upwards that explode. The eggs are thrown at the same time, not individually.
-Down smash: Red pulls out the rubber duck card and summons 3 rubber ducks above himself that fall straight down. The ducks don't do much damage but they do have good knock back, they also can fall off the platform if used at the edge much like villager's side smash.
-Neutral ariel: Bubbles puffs up.
-Forward ariel: Red uses his sword from Angry birds epic and swings it forwards
-Back ariel: Stella swings her wand backwards creating a little bubble trail
-Up ariel: bomb ignites the top of his head.
-Down ariel: Silver does her spin and ground pound. What else would it be? This attack will spike if it hits right the falling portion of the move.
-Grab: A slingshot appears out of nowhere and red puts a foe in.
-Pummel: red head buts them with the top of the head
-Forward throw: Chuck gets launched behind the foe. Then Chuck sprints through the foe launching them forward at a diagonal angle.
-Back throw: Hal gets launched in front of the foe. Then Hal uses his boomerang attack on the foe which sends them backwards.
-Up throw: Bubbles gets launched underneath the foe. Then he puffs up sending the foe upwards.
-Down throw: Terrance's cousin Tony gets launched above the foe. Then does his ground pound on the foe, barring them. Or spiking if above the blast zone.
-Neutral special: A slingshot appears and red launches a chosen bird out. Which one it is depends on how long you hold the button. The first is the blues who will be shot as one but then split apart into 3 upon tapping the button again. Next is Chuck who will speed up upon hitting the button. Next is ice bird (he has no name) who will freeze foes he comes into contact with and explodes when hitting the button. Finally there's Terrance who is just really big and powerful.
-Side special: Red shoots himself out of the slingshot. You can choose which angle he gets fired in. It will be shown where he gets launched by white pellets. When red gets launched you can't cancel it, though he does small damage to hit foes. If red hits a wall he will bounce off. If this move is used in the air red descents slower while in the slingshot and after he gets launched the slingshot falls down and slightly damage foes like sonic's spring. Just for quirks, when ever red gets launched he makes his iconic yell. One more thing about the move, if red were to hit a breakable part of the stage he will automatically break it and be put out of the move.
-Up special: Matilda jumps into the air leaving an explosive egg behind her. If the egg comes into contact with a foe or the ground it explodes. Matilda gets launched at a slight diagonal angle and is put into a free fall. Matilda being shot upwards does do damage. This moves function is more similar to robins up special than bowser jr’s and mii gunner’s.
-Down special: Red places bomb down. Bomb will explode after a few seconds or by pressing the button again. Bomb is stationery and can't be attacked. When bomb turns red that means he's about to explode. Red is also hurt by the explosion. But if red holds down the b button, he will instead summon Shockwave. Bomb turned into shock wave after he stepped into some chemicals that the pigs were experimenting with while holding the eggs in their science lab. Shockwave acts the same way normal bomb does except he causes a electric shockwave that is bigger and more powerful than the explosion normal bomb makes. But it still hurts red so be careful. Only one bomb can be on screen at a time. And red has to wait 5 seconds to place him again.
-Final smash: For Red's final smash he call upon the mighty eagle. It can be a cinematic final smash that starts with Red pulling out the sardines and throwing it. Anybody hit by it will be pulled into a cut scene. In the cut scene the caught foes are in the pig's fortess filled with TNT!!!! Then out of nowhere the sardines lands on the fortress causing the mighty eagle to land on the fortress crushing the poor foes and creating a huge explosion that does massive damage and sends the foe back in to battle!!!
-Stage intro: Red destroys the pig's fortress sitting on the stage. Then he lands on the stage.
-Costumes: (some of the birds didn't have the costumes because they didn't appear in those games so new ones have to be made or have ones based off some of the ones I didn’t use in angry birds seasons and angry birds 2. Also Tony will not have new ones made and just copy Terrance. One more thing, all the birds will be in their angry birds toon designs)

-Side taunt: Red yells.
-Up taunt: A pig trys to sneak up on red and steal the egg only for red to turn around and scare the pig away.
-Down taunt: Red hides a egg behind his back, then looks to the right and to the left just to make sure no one will steal it.
-Victory animation 1: All the birds jump around the eggs excitedly as 3 stars appear above them, and you will hear their iconic cheer you get when you complete a level.
-Victory animation 2: The pigs are holding the eggs in their fortress. Luckily red launches himself into it and destroys it, bringing the eggs back home
-Victory animation 3: Red stomps on a pig while holding the eggs on top of his head.
-Losing animation: since he has no hands he can’t clap. So he would just have a temper tantrum cause he’s an angry bird.
-Boxing ring title: The feathers of furious
-Stage: randomly set up angry birds levels kinda of like the Mario maker.
-Classic mode: Protect the eggs. Red has to go through many battles on the angry birds stage while being teamed up with 3 small white kirbys that do nothing and are supposed to represent the eggs, if any of them die you lose. Each fight would have characters that reference the kinds of pigs you have to pop, for example the first battle will have you face off against a bunch little green kirbys that represent the little tiny pigs you see at the beginning of the game, or the second to last battle will have you face off against a red k rool that represents elporkador. The final battle is a against beast Gannon because he is part pig so he represents king pig.
-Kirby hat: Red's tail, beak, eyebrows and the hair on top of red's head. Or all of that turned into a hat like the Pokemon.
-Series icon: Egg or slingshot

My god, I thought this was a joke. Then I started scrolling. I don’t want to crush your dreams, but let’s be honest. No one plays mobile games, they’d never put a character from a old, dead, irrelevant game in
Vixen I do agree angry birds might be dead. Since they deleted the old games and replaced them with games that don’t even follow the original format. But people were requesting Steve even before pewdiepie brought minecraft back and when it was still dead. And I just would like to see him in smash because it’s my childhood and they might be the best option for a mobile rep. Also I’m not the only one who wants them.

Personally I'd love Agumon or some kinda Digimon so we could get the Pokémon VS. Digimon dynamic but there's a ton of other game choices like Klonoa, Katamari, Tekken or Soulcalibur, Xenosaga, the Tales of series, and more!

I really want Nathan Drake and Cole Macgrath, but they are in Playstation AllStars, although Im not sure if that kills their chances because Heihachi is a mii and TEKKEN has never been on a Nintendo console. But...why isn’t Heihachi in? And Raiden from Metal Gear is in AllStars but Raiden is inly a spirit. Dante is in AllStars and isn’t represented but he at least has a game in Switch. So maybe they just need to have a game on a Nintendo console? Snake, Cloud, and Joker are considered playstation icons, which they are, but each of them have at least one game on a nintendo console even if their latest games are PlayStation exclusives. But, nobody can confirm whether or not a character can join, only Nintendo themselves can say it.

The only option for Shooters is Doom. Halo and TF2 doesn't have games on Nintendo while Doom pretty much have all games on Nintendo and right now are available on Switch. Besides, Halo is a failure on Japan and XBOX is nowhere interested on Nintendo anymore.

Wait a second. This might be the last smash game. Imagine if the last character was a assist trophy upgraded too an fighter. And this would be insane cause that is the last character we get no more. It’s the end of smash and the people who wanted other characters too be no longer a trophy. Will just be never happening.
When I talk about "fan rules" as something implied I get too many people calling me dumb but face it. It was all possible for Spring Man to become playable and he didn't. That's a sign we won't get Assist Trophies into playable fighters. I know for most it's just memes but there are 100% serious ones who would do anything for this and I don't want them ultimately disappointed
Exactly. I think Assist Trophies act as Semi-confirmed fighters, meaning that they were a potential candidate, but they didn't have the proper grounds to make the translation. Either because they ran out of time, the rights were limited, and/or Nintendo lacks the creativity to properly translate them into the game. Anyone who's an assist trophy now, can potentially become a fighter in the NEXT GAME. Otherwise they would have to remove a respective assist trophy to avoid a paradox or something

They could easily become great playable fighters but look. Sonic has no Echo nor Other Sonic rep. Tails, Knuckles or Shadow were all candidates of choice but because none of them was as similar to Sonic in their home games they couldn't become Echoes and they couldn't become their own fighters either, because it would be too much attention to Sonic franchise. Zero is the same. Proto Man would have apparently work as an Echo but Sakurai didn't do it like this. Guile is his own fighter,but Ryu has Ken for Echo, so technically if you stack echoes up it's 1 series, 1 slot, 2 characters, 1.5 moveset. And finally Alucard was supposed to be the Castlevania rep but Sakurai thought he should add Simon instead, as they both had potential to be their own fighters Sakurai chose Simon and added Richter as Simon's echo.

The character I want the most is someone from Rhythm Heaven, specifically Karate Joe for me but I'd accept anyone. The fact that the Chorus Kids were planned for Smash 4 made me hopeful for Ultimate, as well as the ghosts from Sneaky Spirits being enemies in smash run, but now the Rhythm Heaven franchise is seemingly at a standstill, so I'm not holding my breath.

Suppose they added, let's say Black Knight to the game as a DLC fighter. What do you do about the Black Knight Assist Trophy?
Many people will say "oh, some assist trophies are context sensitive, and are removed from the summoning pool based on certain conditions. just remove black knight" okay, but based on what condition?
"why, if someone is playing as black knight on the stage, of course!" well no, that doesn't quite track. if i'm playing mario fighting ness, it still makes no sense for a black knight AS to show up in the context that i COULDVE been playing as him. the entire point of assist trophies is "we're not playable, but you can summon us to help". it's a consolation prize. you can't be a consolation summon AND in the game.
therefore, the only thing that could work is deleting black knight from the summoning pool, permanently. but do you do that when someone download the black knight fighter pack? or do you do that as part of an update so it effects everyone, even those who hadn't bought the pack? the former is problematic because you are essentially making people pay to have a part of their game taken away from them. the latter is problematic because you've taken something away from people who didn't even ask for it. it's a lose lose.
there's also the fact nobody likes to think about that assist trophies were things created by someone. teams made that black knight model, coded his AI, balanced his knockback. His inclusion was a labor of love. You think they're going to AXE all that? For THIS character of all things?
Now, replace Black Knight with waluigi, or isaac, or shovel knight, or anybody that people have actually been asking for. All those problems are still there. this isn't like spirits, it's not a jpeg with numbers attached that, it's... an inclusion.
Assist Trophy are literally already in super smash bros. They are not going to "get in" because they're already here, they're not going to magically "get in again but harder".

I don't like the argument you use for spyro. First it's a wish list you did last time and I think you should put the character you want rather than the character you guess. If it is the character you guess then it's a figther pass prediction, not a wish list. It does not have to be logical, smash is not the game awards, it is a fighting game where INTERACTIONS between characters from different liscence make the game amazing. The characters you should value the most are not the most logical ones but the ones you would prefer play as them, the ones you would love to see the most interract with other fighters.
I hope we can get at least one new Sonic rep, I hope it's Tails as he's my favorite Sonic character. Though Eggman would be cool too.
Edit: Yes, I know Tails is in the background of the Green Hill Zone stage, but maybe when playing as him on said stage, maybe another Sonic character like Amy could replace him.

If stages and assists deconfirm characters Tails,Silver,Shadow and Knuckles are deconfirmed so I want Blaze or Espio but Amy could work as the 3rd hammer fighter too
Stages shouldn't deconfirm fighters though.Toon Link gets swaped with another character on the Train Stage from Phantom Hourglass.

@@Charizardslash Blaze would be cool, Espio would be cool as well but I'd rather see him with Charmy and Vector using a Pokemon Trainer style of gameplay, and I'd be perfectly fine with Amy Rose as well.
But stages probably don't deconfirm characters as when you play as any of the Links on the Spirit Train stage, Alfonzo will be conducting instead.
So Tails does have a chance (well Silver does too but seeing how he was introduced in the Modern era it's pretty unlikely)

With the recent Shin Megami Tensei announcements I got my hopes up again wishing to see some representation in Smash. My personal picks are either Demi-fiend from SMT Nocturne, or Flynn from SMT IV. However, I would also appreciate SMT V (despite he being kinda unprobable unless Sakurai gets early access to SMT V) or even Jack Frost!

The inclusion of min min has semi solidified the chances of an assist trophy being upgraded. If Spring Man was not put as an actual character and the assist trophy replaced by Springtron then it's not happening.

@Alan Bulk Sakurai himself has said Waluigi won't be playable because he's an assist in Smash 4. And throughout all Smash games since Brawl. No character has been an assist AND a playable character in the same game. Little Mac, Isabelle and Dark Samus all their assists removed when playable and that was usually entirely new games from their debut like Brawl to Smash 4. Spring Man could've broke the "rule" yet Min Min was easily prioritized by both Sakurai and the ARMS developer. Only delusional idiots still try to push this bullshit about ATs having a shot. Keep setting yourself up for disappointment!

Since Spring Man is not a fighter it's only logical to assume assist trophies will stay assist trophies. Everything else is fair game except for Doom Slayer. He has no chance of getting in
ヌイババNuibaba sakurai has never said anything like that. Why can’t the assist trophy just be disabled when the character is being played. They’ve done a very similar thing with knuckles. His assist trophy is disabled when playing on green hill zone because he’s in the background of the stage. Sure I want waluigi in the game but since when have I set myself for disappointment? Your just pulling evidence out of your ass like sakurai saying waluigi wont be playable. Again min min got in and she was a spirit. And guess what? Waluigi is also a spirit and an assist trophy. Stop clinging on to a rule that has had 0 evidence against it
