I was a bass drummer with Cap City 2 this season. The plastic was not fun to clean up off the floor, ever. It was very problematic when we had to create a tarp refold at show sites that did not have a tarp refold area. But I loved kicking bottles and getting hit in the head with them. Absolutely loved performing that show.

Aux. Rack player in our high school’s indoor percussion ensemble. Can confirm that everyone in our entire ensemble is a huge fan of Dartmouth HS, even our staff, which says a lot, because our drumline director is a snare technician for United Percussion, our front ensemble coordinator works at Imperial Dynasty, and our director was a former marching snare for Fusion Drum/Bugle Corps.

Fun fact about me and United percussion. during WGI Finals week United booked my Ohio high school gym as a place to stay during finals because it's like 20 min from UD arena, so every day they were there my high school WGI winds group would have practice before United, and for the last half an hour united would come sit and watch are practice before they could use the gym, united would also use my high school to pack up for performances so they were in are band room most of the time every time, i socialized with some of the members. every time we come back from performances they were there. Anyways i really enjoyed their say while it lasted. Much love to United percussion. from your friends at Miamisburg HS hope to them next year!!!
I was there with my high school for competition and LOVED every show! Just saying the medusa show was so cool, and the drum set player at the end was something I had never seen before.
I marched Triple Crown 2015, 2016, 2017 (vibraphone), and have volunteered every year since then. So glad you loved our show this year! I was devastated when we dropped down to Open, but it was the best decision for the group. The last few shows have been so fun 😊. Unfortunately we folded after 2022, but I am so thankful to have gotten to be part of WGI. It shaped a huge part of who I am.
We did use in-ears at zionsville, and yes it was super challenging lol. Our director is kind of quirky and different, not like the other girls if you will.
I competed this year and sadly didn’t make it past semis but I got to see some of the most impressive shows in my entire life at Dayton last month and it was one of the best times I’ve ever had
Share the sentiment with you. My group, Gold Spike Percussion, was lucky to make semi’s and we had a phenomenal run compared to prelims but just couldn’t impress the judges enough sadly. Was really awesome one of our staff members let me purchase one of their extra ticket for finals
EMC you should react to Clover Highschool indoor show from this year! I'm a Bass from our show and we won PSA with out show "Medusa". Would really love if you'd give it a look.
I was in Cap City’s show “Mother” as one of the villains and it was such a cool show to put on! My brother was actually one of the cymbals so at one point during the show I got to fight him which was so much fun!

Make a drumline cadence to meme songs such as coffin dance and never gonna give you up. Just mash a bunch of different songs together like you did in the sponge bob cadence.
I performed with a scholastic open class group last year as a freshman on tenors and we made it all the way to finals, but sadly placed 14th. Low-key had a bit too high of hopes for us last year, but I genuinely can see a difference in just how well our group is doing this year, so look out for Plainfield this season!
I’m not “REALLY OFFENDED” and I don’t necessarily care that it didn’t make it on the list. But Hempfield HS (H.I.P.E) did really good. I would know because I was in it. I’m one the white knights “The rack players” I even met EMC again at WGI this year. But again Hempfield has never made it that far in the many years of participating so we were the first for our school. I wrote some of my own part and it was lots of fun.
Dartmouth having a Medusa show was cool as another school in my state (Clover HS) did a Medusa show too and got 1st in something like the “Scholastic A” category
I was in Gold Indoor this year and it’s unfortunate we didn’t make the top 20 but oh well lol. Considering 2019 was a really bad year for the group, getting top 5 and breaking the group’s all time high score was something to be really proud of seeing as it was my first year in WGI. I hope you still enjoyed our show!
My drumline currently has several people from RCR instructing our line. We also have one from MBI. So sad they didn’t make it to finals, their show was my all time favorite from Minnesota
April was my first real WGI experience and it was honestly fantastic to be able to watch these types of shows live. (I was with STRYKE Wynds for the WIW circuit for those wondering.) Super excited for next season.
Very sad I’m going to a new high school next year and we don’t have a tenor line, and we only had three snare spots taken by high schoolers. But I managed a spot on bass 4!
I was on vibes for Q2, and front also had some influence on the words despite not having our own props. The show meant a lot to me and i think it was great for my first ever indoor season
I got to see some of these groups preform in Indianapolis and they were amazing. I look up to these guys because my group is very small and so we can’t do advanced shows and have a lot of fun costumes and props (I still love it though). They help me set a goal for myself to work toward in the future. My favorites were definitely Cap City 2, Rhythm X, and Avon.
Bass 4 from paradigm percussion if u liked the other flannel/Canadian-esque I highly recommend our show called “that Canada show” we performed at truist bank for prelims and semis
Re: #14, the forward/backward thing. Carolina Thunder 2001 played the overture to Bernstein’s “Candide” backwards then forwards. Did the same drill and even stick tricks and visuals in reverse.
Sparkman HS did very well for their first year in world class!!! You should totally check out south county hs! I was in the front ensemble. Unfortunately we didn’t do as good as we hoped but it was very fun and exciting to play
Lake Effect had probably the 2nd most enjoyable show on the MAPA circuit this year. High energy, creative. They were great representatives of downriver. Most in Michigan over look what good music programs come from that area of metro Detroit.
If the Lion King show didn't have the old Banished Beyond "Circle of Life" lick, I'm going to be upset Also just realized that video was from 2008, and I feel so incredibly old now
we should just add a class just for avon because they are that good... A class- open class- world class- AVON!!! because if you can take out everybody in WGI you deserve your own class.
I was one of the synth players for Q2 this season, and man hearing those vocals threw me through a loop of nostalgia. Kinda miss them no matter how annoying the timing was ngl 😅
My instructor (North Allegheny HS) said this year we were taking a switch from a dark show this year to have a more positive show this season. We were also turning away from a story line this year and we decided to pretty much have the focus towards the vibraphones and the narration was talking a lot about vibration while the music and effects were supposed to induce positivity.
These were all really good / great shows. My favorite this year was George Mason and their show Nothing Lost. I really loved the message and the visual simplicity of it. ONLY ONE PROP!
Honestly, I always love Rhythm X's cymbal line. The one guy's routine during their show this year was amazing! Edit: I just thought about it and I think I'm going to attempt to learn his routine even though I'm only a highschool cymbal player.
I watched the video on the lot of the snares going up and down the stairs, it was awesome! Avon has a great everything band wise. They have Matt Harloff!
Shout out to Flo Marching for letting me use their videos!

April was my first real WGI experience and it was honestly fantastic to be able to watch these types of shows live. (I was with STRYKE Wynds for the WIW circuit for those wondering.) Super excited for next season.
I marched against Avon when they were in Class B back in 2000. They are legit that good. Way to showcase that Midwest talent!!!
I’m glad cap city made the list!! I’ve heard a lot of people don’t really care much for this show but it was honestly one of my favorites ever
Very sad I’m going to a new high school next year and we don’t have a tenor line, and we only had three snare spots taken by high schoolers. But I managed a spot on bass 4!
Im so glad I got to see most of these in dayton
That was awesome, just like The Top Secret Drum Corps and Royal Marines drumming at the Queen’s birthday.
Rhythmic Force was my favorite. I have a bias as like 3 people in that group were techs at my school but still loved it
MCP FTW!!!!! I cleaned with the mop!
Watching all these shows in person was so awesome and I hope next year south county ends up on this list
I was on vibes for Q2, and front also had some influence on the words despite not having our own props. The show meant a lot to me and i think it was great for my first ever indoor season
Avon Synth 1 here. Definitely our best show yet. It destroyed my fingers
hello fellow synth player!
I was at Dayton for WGI, but for the winds ensemble, we got the top score in scholastic Open A
I got to watch these live this year! I was in warren county's indoor
Got to see you guys perform at Dorman twice last year. Such a cool show!
Re: #14, the forward/backward thing. Carolina Thunder 2001 played the overture to Bernstein’s “Candide” backwards then forwards. Did the same drill and even stick tricks and visuals in reverse.
Honestly surprised you didn’t put RCC up there lol. The gongs on the quads were too good. But I love these types of videos.
Man forgot the upside down bass 5 from zionsville
Sparkman HS did very well for their first year in world class!!! You should totally check out south county hs! I was in the front ensemble. Unfortunately we didn’t do as good as we hoped but it was very fun and exciting to play
I’m so excited I’m going to be playing there sometime later this year I forget when though
4:42 they are playing on the waterfront! we used music from that movie in our marching show last year lol
I like how you were politically incorrect: You want to throw trash in the ocean, and cut down all the trees! 🤣🤣😂😂
Tenor/cymbal pitch bend! I can't believe this isn't everywhere.
Just saying you should check out Lake Effect Percussion I've heard their show is pretttty good
Lake Effect had probably the 2nd most enjoyable show on the MAPA circuit this year. High energy, creative. They were great representatives of downriver. Most in Michigan over look what good music programs come from that area of metro Detroit.
If the Lion King show didn't have the old Banished Beyond "Circle of Life" lick, I'm going to be upset
Also just realized that video was from 2008, and I feel so incredibly old now
Iconic lick
You should do a video on the school bands from Dayton this year
I tries out for chicago blue man group last year and let me tell you seeing a highschool doing what I’ve been dreaming of doing is heartwarming
The group that did the Blue Man Group show isn't a high school, lol. They are in Percussion Independent Open (PIO)
@@LuckyOwI777 oh. I thought who was high schools. My bad :)
@@ItsTheRealChip you're good! Just clarifying for you!
we should just add a class just for avon because they are that good... A class- open class- world class- AVON!!! because if you can take out everybody in WGI you deserve your own class.
as an avon guy, thanks
I saw Dartmouth’s show during nesba competitions!
Seeing pulse in person was crazy.
Sadly our group didn’t only made top 5 in our final a month back
I was one of the synth players for Q2 this season, and man hearing those vocals threw me through a loop of nostalgia. Kinda miss them no matter how annoying the timing was ngl 😅
hello fellow synth player!
I’ve been out of the marching scene for more than 10 years but I love WGI so much
Decatur Centrals "Neon God" was pretty good
Their designer goofed up tho lol I feel bad that they didn’t make finals on a technicality
@@mcleancarter3804 Yeah it was a 10 point penalty we would of gotten 1st
i went against dartmouth, it was awesome to see them!
Im a marimba from unofficial cap city 3. aka central crossing. And I have to say helping Cap 2 clean up that trash is a nighmere!!!
I loved watching Avon!
Honestly, I always love Rhythm X's cymbal line. The one guy's routine during their show this year was amazing!
Edit: I just thought about it and I think I'm going to attempt to learn his routine even though I'm only a highschool cymbal player.
The lead snare drummer for rhythm x is one of my marching band directors
Cool to see 2 schools I know on here. Home state of #1!
I watched the video on the lot of the snares going up and down the stairs, it was awesome! Avon has a great everything band wise. They have Matt Harloff!
I’ll hopefully be in the ZCHS ZIP cymbal line this year
Love from McM🌀
A true work of art.
I cried it’s so beautiful
