This is pretty great, especially considering that this is his first time performing live ever. Dude seems to be having fun with it and I'm glad the reception has been almost unanimously positive.

Ahhh the French covering the French. I think Lil Biccy is going to cop a lot of hate for this one but I quite like that this is a proper cover with his own take on a classic. That build and drop @ 2:32 is gold.

How? From what I understand they want you to cover songs that mean something to you so it’s not a stretch that a French kid would be most inspired by a French band.
I think Captyvate probably means a lot of people wouldn't like that a lot of the instrumentation was done before the performance, not necessarily Petit's taste in music. I think a lot of us were expecting heaps of "all he did was press the spacebar a few times" comments, but surprisingly there aren't many.

Not certain but I think the song is syncopated. Syncopation is a neat little audio illusion that makes a song more lively or loose, there's a great Vox Earworm video on the use of the effect

@@HuyLy94 it's not syncopation that's making it sound off, but he is literally singing the verses 2 beats ahead of when they're sung in the original. just wanted to switch things up i suppose
