      Hey, I don't use the table saw for 45 degree miter cuts as I always just use my Dewalt miter saw. To cut accurate miters on this table saw a better miter gauge is needed as the stock miter gauge is not suitable for fine woodworking. The table saw doesn't have any trouble cutting different types of hardwoods. You can always add different blades as well!

    I have this saw. Had the same issue with the miter guage. Used a punch to lighlty create a few dimples in the sides of the miter guage's rail. This ever so slightly raised some of the aluminum up around the dimples & fixed the issue.

    the DWE7480 is a 10”
    and DWE7485 is a 8 1/2” saw
    but the DW745 is a 10” but they don’t sell the 10” without the stand now.
    good luck finding one of those now. it’s September 2020 and they are nowhere to be found.
    the DW735 was $400 sold separately, but the industry has gone to a combo unit sold with a collapsible rolling stand and that have all raised the price. An increase of almost 50% by just adding a few pieces of inexpensive steel tubing.
    Hitachi was bought out by Metabo (german company) and their job site saw went from $350 up to $570.
    The saw is the same, but they justify the huge increase because of the stand.
    That’s $220 just for the cheap stand that costs them $25 to manufacture out of recycled garbage steel.
    I’m trying to find just the DW745 without the stand and it’s impossible.
    They are selling the these models with the stand and claiming that it’s an obsolete model, instead of offering to sell the saw independently.
    What are you gonna do.

    Thanks so much for this review. In my own typical pre-purchase [over] analysis I keep coming back to DeWalt's rack & pinion fence as a must have for rapid setup, accuracy and repeatability. It just makes engineering sense over others on the market. Also the DWE7480's light weight for ease of shared garage mobility. And I'll too be immediately swapping out the stock construction blade for a Forrest Woodworker type or similar. I already have an Incra miter gauge for my router table that I'll dual-use. Thanks again!

    I bought one of these last week. Dewalt have now increased the arbor length, so some dado stacks should be good to go. The mitre gauge is still crap though, but then all table saw, bandsaw and sander mitre gauges are crap. I’ll spring for an Incra as soon as I can afford it.

    What a great review video! I actually have been researching for several days now in anticipation of getting a jobsite saw to use indoors during the winter months. I narrowed it down to a Bosch, Dewalt and Ridgid. As of yesterday I had pretty much decided on the Ridgid (primarily due to the dado stack ability) but honestly now after hearing your review I think I may end up going with the Dewalt (I didn't realize the fence was that good on this one). One question for you though - was the zero clearance insert pretty straightforward to make? I know the Ridgids can be tricky because of how thin the sides get, but wasn't sure if that is an issue or not with the Dewalt? Thanks again for this great video - liked and subscribed!

      lol and directly after leaving this comment i went to check out your other videos and see you have one on how to make the zero clearance insert. I will go watch that next. This was literally the first video I had ever seen of yours. Looking forward to digging into more! :)

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, thanks so much and I am glad that you found it useful! The fence is very handy so I would agree. Creating a basic Zero Clearance Insert for the Dewalt jobsite table saw is fairly easy. You can make it complicated by adding various things but a basic diy throatplate is simple. If you think you may need to cut dadoes with your jobsite table saw then look at a different model of made by Dewalt because they have made similar Jobsite table saws that can house a dado stack. Thanks for the support, have a good one!

      I don’t usually comment on RUclips, doing so now for the community. I have exact table saw and it accepts this dado stack Oshlun SBJ-0830 8-Inch Box and Finger Joint Set www.amazon.com/dp/B0012YIL2W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_p6FxDb1EKPQ32 I have used this stack and works beautifully leaving a clean flat base. Of note though is that the stack only cuts ¼ or 3/8 dado width, of course you can make two or more passes to achieve your dado desired length.

      Mary Dunne man, if you’re still within the year return the Ridgid and get a DeWalt. I had he Ridgid for about 6.5 months and the quality is nothing compared to DeWalt. Plus it started giving me issues and their customer service is horrible. Even Home Depot doesn’t want to work with them. They don’t have many repair centers and the few they have are hard to work with. Return it and get a DeWalt before you start having issues. Their lifetime warranty is a joke. It’ll take you a lifetime to actually figure out how to use it.

      Hey, I do have plans made for this table saw station. Here is the link to the plans: drive.google.com/file/d/1ByyE0lfanapsHM8Ds1C1pL360SKWiSDP/view?usp=sharing I also have a video that discusses the table build in more detail, here is the link to that video: ruclips.net/video/be_UaAbHNOg/видео.html I created a custom throat plate to simply have a zero clearance so I can rip very thin material. The Dewalt table saw has a wonderful throat plate but the gap between the blade and the throat plate opening is very wide to compensate for the saw blade tilting. If you have any other questions just let me know! Thanks for the comment, and I really hope these resources help you out.

    The major issue I have had from mine (745) is that the blade raising gear gets easily clogged up with saw dust making it very difficult to raise the blade. The other thing, of course is how easily the surface gets marred although that has no effect on the performance.
    EDIT: Oh and the extra MAJOR issue is the 5/8" arbor instead of the standard 30 mm making dangerous rings necessary.

    Now we come to the hard question
    In your opinion ,what is the difference between your table saw ,and the Dewalt dwe 745 ?

    • @H1ST0RYWriter
      @H1ST0RYWriter 4 года назад +1

      I didn't post this video, but the difference lies in their respective motors. The DW 745's motor has a max rpm of 3850 with no load, while the DWE 7480 has a higher max at 4800 rpm. In my opinion, that translates to greater accuracy with the 7480. The 7480 also has a higher rip capacity, 24.5 inches, compared to the 745's 20 inches. Both worthy saws though. The 745 is lighter in weight, and easier to transport if that's important to you.

    I have the same Dewalt table saw and I am interested in building or buying a crosscut sled. I built a stand for the saw (on wheels) but I don't have any extensions on either side of the saw or back, which is an issue. Is there a particular plan that you feel is best for this table saw, or one to purchase? I have looked at several but my biggest issue seems to be having support on especially the left side of my table and the back. I did see your video on building around the table saw, but I don't think I have the skills for that. Thanks in advance.

    05:09 stop that thing with a knee bump is no longer possible with that table extension. Right? Nevertheless - the extension is absolutely lovely.
    07:22 *yeah* - it's a fence / rail system with *gears* . Got it..
    09:29 *Not* so fast, chief: you forgot mentioning the superior riving knife exchange system [the lever on the side, you know..] ;-) But other than that: *great* review.
    One last point: how *loud* is it, compared to [let's say] a *BOSCH GKS 190* ? Thanks.

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  4 года назад

      Hey thanks for the comments:
      - I think it would be rather difficult to stop the saw with your knee with the stand around the saw, however, you could add on a wooden extension to assist with that purpose.
      - Over clarification since I really like the fence system.
      - That is true, I forgot to mention how easy it is to remove the riving knife and change its position (thru cut/ not thru cut).
      - I am not sure how loud this machine is compared to other similar table saws as I have not worked with many other table saws like this one. I can tell you for certain that any table saw with a solid cast iron table top is going to be much more quite than this saw.
      Thanks for the feedback as well as the positive comments!

    • @_Shopfix

      Hey, there's no need to reference your table saw's fence system with your miter slots as you'll never be crosscutting with the fence locked in place anyways or at least you shouldn't. Rather, you will want to reference the fence to the blade at 0 degrees. Line those up and measure from the blade to the fence to see if the fence is not parallel.

      No I’ve never had problems with the blade moving at all. You have to manually raise and lower it. The blade should never tilt.

    Out of the box the rack and pinion will not glide easily. it is very stiff to turn the adjustment nob.What am I doing wrong?

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  Год назад

      Sometimes if you put the fence on wrong it will cause the rails to be stiff. Take off the fence and try it and see how it is. It won’t be super smooth but shouldn’t be stiff either.

    Hi, what blade are you using in your video? Thanks.

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  4 года назад

      The saw blade I am using is a Menards brand MasterForce fine tooth finishing blade if you are referencing the green saw blade.

      @@_Shopfix Yes thanks, how many teeth? What is your opinion on that MasterForce blade?

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  4 года назад

      Max E. Hey the blade is an 80 tooth blade. I have a MasterForce brand blade on my table saw and my miter saw and have found them to work great. I have also noticed that a fine tooth finishing blade cuts very smooth but at a much slower pace. Depending upon the type of cuts you are making will determine if you need a fine tooth blade. The more teeth the blade has will dramatically reduce cutting speed just for a heads up!

    Is there still a lot of play in mitre gauge slots

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  5 лет назад

      Hey, when using the stock miter gauge by itself there is a little play, it’s certainly not perfect. I’d recommend building a custom wooden miter gauge or a crosscut sled! Take care.

      Hi Bruce. The DW745 is the predecessor and is not being manufactured anymore. It has a smaller motor and rip capacity but is otherwise similar (at least that's my understanding). Every hardware and tool supply store worth their salt should carry the DW7480. There are lots of DW745 around still too and are selling at bargain prices. Shop around.

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  3 года назад

      I would only recommend putting a single standard width blade onto the arbor. I would not recommend housing anything more than a single standard blade, this model is not designed for anything else.

    @shopfix Is there any means of doing fine adjustments to the height of the table saw work surface so that when you build a larger saw table around it and things settle that you can maintain perfectly flush surfaces?

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  4 года назад +2

      Yes, the dwe7480 model has feet that can be adjusted. You can also remove the stock feet that are on the table saw and thread something different through the holes in the bottom frame such as different leg levelers or something!
