I actually like the soft muted swatches. Have no idea what I would paint with them-but they're so peaceful. Calico kitty walking-I am completely head over heels in love. have always wanted one but feel I'm too old to add new animals to my little pack.
I also really loved the muted colors. I would like to do more paintings that are muted - they make me feel peaceful, which is always a good thing. Yes, the calico is the only one we let outside and only under our direct supervision, and then one day she decided to go on a walk with us. She did it a few times after this, too, and it's so cute. She's really fat, so she could use more walks! Hoping to get her out on walks again this spring, summer and fall. My grandma took a chance getting her two cats with her health the way it was, but she sure loved them to pieces!
I may be wrong about this guess but I think your palette is from the christmas holiday season release cause those palettes were made to look like ornaments to hang on your tree. They made two different sizes as well as 4 different color collections, (which might have been based off the seasons). But I really liked the painting you did, and I would imagine these paints,( the range of colors they offer I mean), could work for portraits and landscapes to add a pop of texture cause of how granulating they appear.
A portrait, of course! I'm going to have to try all these wonderful suggestions in the future. A Christmas release makes sense - I didn't even think about the fact that is was ornament-shaped. Thanks, Golden!
Kitty walkies!! I've been curious about these paints. They keep popping up in my IG feed. They look like they might make some cool vintage feel illustrations. I wonder if this will be the year that i try finding my own wild pigments to make paint from??!
Sorry to be a bore, but please forgive me for popping in to remind you that if you a grinding pigment you should wear a good quality face mask of appropriate grade. It’s not worth risking your health. DIY stores sell them. In the U.K. they would be sold as ffp3 grade. Not sure about the description in other countries. But you don’t want to be inhaling stuff even if it’s not actually toxic and grinding does make it easy to do so.
what neat little set of watercolors! when i saw the colors i was thinking of Sedona, with those beautiful rustic colored mountains! i can't wait to see what other colors they have available!
I really like the natural quality of these watercolors. And the packaging/presentation is a plus. Your painting is delightful! The low saturation of the green would frustrate me, but I haven't found an authentic 'terre vert' that didn't! However, I'd LOVE to have that green as a room color.
They are soft and beautiful. It'll be fun to try them in other paintings in the future. Yeah, that soft green is a little bit difficult, but still a pretty color. You're right - what a great color to paint a room!
My daughter bought me a palette of these paints for Mothers Day!!! I was so excited when I opened her present! My colors are slightly different but beautiful! So I watched your video again.
Lovely paints, and gorgeous farm painting. Shame the green wasn't coming out as vibrant as you needed, it looks like a pretty color. My first thought seeing the colors swatched was a city window with a flowerbox. You have perfect colors for brick and plants there.
Keep kitty closer to you guys! But I see you have the troops with you for safety from Coyotes. I live in a small town and we are experiencing an increase in coyotes coming into the residential areas... I love your art work! Can you do a sketchbook tour for one of your videos to see your beautiful art? That is a really nice palette! Thank you Miranda for sharing !
Yes, we kept a very close eye on her and she is only outside when she's with us directly. She's an indoor cat the other 99.9% of the time. Too many predators around here. I did a sketchbook tour recently - here is that link: ruclips.net/video/HjAKuteL8dY/видео.html
Thank you for presenting these paints. I am always excited at the prospect of new watercolors, but when they have such a unique quality or made so thoughtfully, I get even more excited! Will definitely look into exploring their website to learn more. Hoping all is well on your end! Cheers! ~ Mark
I thought I would never be interested in making my own watercolors, but I find the thought a little more intriguing as time goes on... 🤔 It could be really fun. But that's for later. 😉
What a cutie! Guess this one would not travel well, but I really like small travel palettes. I have been inspired by the leather pocket palette carried by Joseph Mallord William Turner - not so sure it traveled well either... Your art always inspires me :)
It's adorable, isn't it? Yeah, probably not great for travel without making some kind of special case for it to keep it away from the paint. I haven't seen that leather pocket palette, but I'll look into it. Thanks, Deb!
I love it when cats come along for the walk!!!! And very fun limited palette painting. The Etchrs are significantly more $$ than the Hahnemuhles. (Best way to get Etchrs is on sale from Jacksons... if you play cart roulette! Best place to get Hahnemuhles are Wet Paint Art, they have a good discount.) But the Etchr has "good" watercolor paper and the Hahnemuhle has "urban sketcher" paper. Or maybe we can just call the paper a bit "sketchy" 😂I just finished another Hahnemuhle one the other day. I still like it for quick splashy abstracts! But when I fill what I have, I *really* need to try making my own.
Hi Miranda, I received an email today from the Art Toolkit. And they featured the Art of Soil. It was interesting to read. I was wondering what it would be like to paint with, and then here you are using their paint. Your picture is beautiful, and so are your pets.
Super DUPER glad to have "met" you--So enjoy your videos and just your outlook in general: thank you! I know you're busy but when you have a chance can you share links to art podcasts you enjoy? I hadn't fathomed such critters existed 😆
What interesting paints! The palette you got looks almost like an Earth paint assortment despite being a basic set.......Probably because the paint is literally made from earth. LOL The painting you made looks loose and delicate. It's lovely! Would you say the paints feel novelty or would you consider them to be a serious addition to an artist's arsenal? Of course, no two artists are alike so that would depend on the artist, but I'm curious what you think based on how you uniquely paint in your style. The way the colors behaved reminds me strongly of a Wallace Seymour palette I got recently with light, muted colors that get stronger when they're allowed to soak up water for a bit. I'm also curious about the palette they're in. I didn't see the water/paint beading on it (re: couldn't tell from the camera) so I'm wondering if it's treated to be water-resistant. Wooden palettes for long-term use tend to make me nervous unless they've got a good coat of poly or some other protectant to keep them from getting damaged.
It definitely has earth colors in it - that's the feel of it. In my opinion, these are hard to rewet and would probably be frustrating to use in a regular manner, so I think they are more novelty. Although you are right about them being MUCH easier to use when water was allowed to soak on them for just a bit first. It also does not seem like the wood has been treated much, although their website says that they use Tung oil for sealing, and eco-epoxy for coating the mixing spaces. Hope that helps!
Love the idea, something people have done for years, i would just be worried about allergies depending on where the soil came from. i know som=me people can be really sensitive the colours did work really well for the barn scene 😃
I like the painting, I thought of a desert 🌵 Cookies head when up when she saw the cat and dogs 😊
Yes, I'll have to do a desert scene with these next time because the colors are perfect for that! Cookie is so darned cute...
@@MirandaWatsonArt look forward to it, thank you 😊
Oh my gosh, cutest box, cutest palette! I’ve never heard of this at all, fun video!
Antique teapot or rusty truck would be fun with this set!
Isn't it the cutest? I had so much fun with it.
Oooh, yes!
I think that particular collection of watercolors would be perfect for capturing desert and canyon landscapes
Yes, I agree!
This is the cutest palette ever. The colours are also quite lovely
It really is! Such nice, soft colors.

Interesting concept and lovely painting. Great wooden palette. Bigger pans, perhaps.
Have a great week and nice walks in good 4 legged company.
Thank you, Valerie. It's a cute novelty item, isn't it? Have a great week as well and I always look forward to my walks with the fur-babies.

They're definitely unique! I hope you find a set to try. All is well, thank you. 😊
So beautiful 👍
Thank you.
Interesting concept, and now I want to try making watercolours from natural earth. 😂 The little farm scene was a great subject for the colours.
