Tackett is by far the most powerful bowler pound for pound. The guy's form and release are perfect. He's my favorite player currently on tour. The guy is fun to watch!
Randy always says he is the “pound for pound strongest guy” but I think his technique is the main reason he can rev it so much, not muscle. Thank you for posting this. It’s good educational material which I use to try to emulate his style.
Interestingly, he was also a big golfer, and has said the “inside-out” swing in golf is a very similar concept to “staying inside” in bowling. I learned old-school, get your fingers around to the outside of the ball and rip up. Trying to re-program my mechanics is tough, but for me the problem is not release. You have to have perfect timing, balance, and swing plane in order to keep your hand on the inside part of the ball. If you get everything else right, and set up inside, the release practically happens on its own.
I mimic my style so much like tackett since I’ve got natural torque and ball speed.... but keeping the ball so close to his slide foot and close to his body throughout is the one thing I have yet to get down. What a pleasure to watch. Hey, EJ if you’re out there reading comments on the YT... I just wanna say that you’re an inspiring competitor.
@@duanedoty6798on the contrary, 2 handed bowling is definitely easier on the body and wrists since you’re not supporting the weight of a ball with a single hand. lots of people report reduce wrist pain/tendonitis/arthritis pain after switching to 2 handed bowling
I really loved this video. I just bumped up from a 13 club ball to a 15 ball I own. But I have been getting tired. I can see now how these guys are really pulling the ball in close. I have lifted weights quite a bit over the years and I know that can make a huge difference. I had been focusing on the wrist but it seems like the stance is maybe bigger.
Sean Willis another thing that helps is to just bowl a lot, that really helps build endurance. I bowled around 20 games a week for a year and a half (worked at a bowling alley), but I took about a year off and now I can hardly bowl 3 games without sweating my ass of and being sore as hell for the next week lol.
@@hobbymaster28 Yeah I have been trying to figure how much to throw. Part of weightlifting is resting. So you have to figure out how much to rest. I am not sure were you live but the sweating may just be the humidity. It is off the charts were I live this year. It is causing me a alot of allergies. The ac acts a dehumidifier but it just gpt colder and now that has gone. I fixed alot of my problem by picking up with two hands. And not raising the bowl so high.
The thing that sets him apart isn't his Rev Rate...don't get me wrong, it's insanely high for a 1 hander. It's his footwork. Notice how he gets his body out of the way at the downswing in order to fully snap his wrist on the release....that's the part that separates him from the competition.
Im a big fan of him. I think Im a lucky guy because I can watch this video. I just watch this video every single morning when I wake up. This is my one way to start a day. You know what I mean?
I need someone to teach me how to one hand bowl with thumb. I see these guys release and appear to throw the ball towards the left (get the revs going) but the ball travels way right. Whenever I try this, I either land in the gutter or maybe hit the 7 pin (basically straight). I need to figure out the motion to roll the ball left and get it going to the right.
Thanks for the great footage. It confirms what Randy Pedersen says is incorrect for EJ’s release. EJ gets his revs from allowing the linear momentum of the bowling ball to continue forward whilst he imparts a rotational force on the ball from his fingers decelerating relative to the ball’s forward motion to impart the spin. I don’t think that anyone has the strength to toss a 15lb bowling ball with a yoyo action.
Yep, that hip snap exacerbates finger motion relative to the ball’s momentum hence force to apply the extra revs. If the timing is out, one can smash the balling ball into their ankle. Ouch!
His middle finger hangs in the ball longer than the thumb and the ring finger. Basically EJ is flipping off everyone with every single shot that he throws.
I throw motiv, but I do agree with most people. I think he would win more if he threw storm. High rev guys always do. This I coming from a guy with 10 motiv balls too.
I have both Storm and Motiv, and I have had my most success with Storm, but I won my first local title with a Motiv Venom Shock. Both great companies with great products.

Hit it harder. But yes, finesse is a real thing.
Highly debatable lol but he’s good for sure glad your a fan
Guys a boner tbh

Thank you for showing us that he is human & doesn't strike every single time. Certainly one of the most powerful releases in the modern game.

Such a pured release at the foul line. Also I want someone to look at me the same way EJ looks at the camera at 3:50
His rev rate in slow mo is my rev rate at normal playback
LOL

yea that takes a couple of hits to the ankle to get comfortable with it
Great Release EJ 2021 will be a better year for you stay safe.
I prefer his throw over alot of these two hand bowlers it's more exciting to watch
Cody garton I agree with what you just said
That's exactly why I'm trying to switch to 1 hand because 2 hand just doesn't feel natural
As a 2 handed bowler, I completely agree. Hes got the best release on tour
2-handed bowling leads to injury, something to keep in mind

Amazing release. What is interesting is that you don't see a crossover step, and he drifts slightly left.
I guess that’s why his swing goes out and has to tuck back in.
Great bowler

A lot of guys throw 13 and still roll big numbers... just throw 13 if its more comfortable

2:24 i see what you mean
He’s got a sweet release. That snap tho!
Bro, why is his rev in slow-mo faster than my actual rev rate :O (I bowl 2 handed but I'm trash)
Cuz his rev rate is in the 500’s

i actually do it with a 16lbs ball
I love Motiv and I'm a big fan of EJ but I dont see his arm, elbow, shoulder lasting very long with that kind of action.
i love this vid, nice and clear,What is ball is Ej throwing? the colorful one??
That's a forge flare I believe
@@AthleticBowling nice,thank u
does he tuck his pinky at the apex of swing? I swear you can see clear out stretched when he starts but looks tucked on his down swing
How heavy is the ball he normally throws?
He will have elbow issues soon. Hell of a bowler though. My favorite
Can u do sam cooley plsss?

What song is playing on this video?

His ball gets so close to his ankle it actually hits his pants. Mine is like a ball's length away!
