I was so addicted to this game when it came out. Joining alpha beta, buying 2 life time accounts, having 2 computers and 2 characters going at the same time being up for 48ish hours straight over the weekend. After watching this makes me want to reinstall the game and get back into it.

I love it how they did their own take on the locations based off the books rather than the movies. Yeah, I do agree that they inspire some of it from the films though not completely which mind you was a good thing. Least they inspired from both of the movies and book. When I first enter into the Paths of the Dead, I was surprise to see the 'shades of men' as blue rather than green like in the films. It was a nice color addition for me - now I don't know which I like better! Maybe both? xD I thought the locations around Rohan/Edoras and Helm's Deep were a cool addition as well where they made the walls intricate and with red flags to Helms Deep.
Yes! I think the movies were great but we’ve already seen that interpretation. Not many of us want to experience the same world twice. The best part of LOTRO is the exploration.
Just a heads-up, while they are inspired somewhat from the movies, they can't copy any assets from them, since they only have the rights from the books. Like, the only time they were denied something by the license holders is their initial depiction of Orthanc, that looked too similar to the one of Peter Jackson.
Love this! I hope you get to do another. Some cool locations would be Moria (specifically Balin’s tomb aka The Chamber of Mazarbul), the Black Gate, Rivendell, Isengard/Orthanc, Lothlorien.

Weathertop looks too grand in both versions. According to the books there is almost nothing left of the old tower. Just a few stones, that can only been seen when one is already at the top of the hill.
For what it’s worth, I’m going to watch it and make my decision after watching. I’m probably more open to allowing variance than most Tolkien fans but it seems a little too far. To be determined.

I think this deserves a part 2. There is still a ton of places left to explore that appeared in both the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies that are fully realized in LOTRO.
Really hope we get to see these locations with modern graphics. Even though modern writers suck absolute ass, environmental artists and character designers have transcended even further beyond their ultimate form
Weird choice not to include Moria considering that's one of the closest recreations. Nice video attempt; next time try to be smoother with camera and also comparisons should be done on similar areas not just roundabout the area.
Would you reccomend giving the game a try? I heard its great for Tolkien fans but massive as hell, and I don't know if I can get invested in such a game right now
