I love how not a single religious person can get entropy right. Entropy just means workable energy. It has nothing to do with degradation of things like dna.
I think it depends on definition. One would be how much energy cannot be converted into usable energy and second would be disorder, which is probably used more often by religious " oh you can't get order from chaos, also cow giving birth to other cow is the only thing we ever observed" Saying it has nothing to do with DNA is also kinda bold, because it's like the only thing that cell does - tries to reduce local entropy. Repairing damaged DNA would be reducing entropy. Degradation of it (due to f.e cell death) would be increasing entropy.
@ disorder means energy is too spread out to be worked in that context. The religious try to use it as chaos or negative randomness. Cells only follow a command they’re given. Some do store dna to be copied, but I wouldn’t relate that to entropy directly. Though, I’m in agreement that a dead cell is increasing entropy.
It’s always interesting that these people think that entropy has to always increase. When the law simply states entropy tends to increase, it can fluctuate up and down in the steps between
his little bubble doesn't allow him to see all the horror that is the human animal, there are humans eating other humans. He just ignores it. Confirmation bias.
Since language is a human concept according to the good evidence, God looked billions of years into the future, chose a specific language, spoke those words into the magic nothing-land he exists in, and we got a universe baby. However, according to magic, words have power and existed before us. Sounds cool, but where's all the necessary evidence for magic? I have my whole life experience with natural events, none with magic.
Daniel Dennett it’s not trying to “salvage” the theory of evolution from being overturned by the fact that random mutations occur. How can you get so much wrong so quickly?
One thing I will point out, while they use ancient terms like Thule and Hyperboria which are from Greek and roman historians, the beliefs the Nazis had were heavily influenced by Ariosophy a modern form of mysticism that developed out of the late 1800s. Ariosophy was a combination of many beliefs including a reinterpretation of Germanic religions, 19th century beliefs about Aryans and Theosophy. The Nazis beliefs are totally historical. They lied about how old their esoteric beliefs were, like everything else they did.
Looking around a bit, it appears that Huxley first supposed, because of the lack of transitional forms in the fossil record as it then was, that genera would be stable for long periods and then experience saltational changes in reaction to environmental change. This could certainly be viewed as a precursor to Gould's work. But after Huxley saw the sequence of horse fossils at Yale, he changed his mind to fully accept Darwin's gradualism. Bear in mind that punctuated equilibrium has been rejected by contemporary paleontologists.
Gene flow also makes sense from a logical standpoint. If a population has freedom of movement then it will lead to portions leaving, removing genetic material from the pool, or new groups coming in, bringing in new genetic material to the pool.
And I'm not talking about his voice. His arguments are so similar and so bad and based in appeals to "what ifs" so as to make them completely meaningless.
@@Thealgorithmhassummonedme okay, I could tell some of that from the video. But I mean, he’s just like Darth Dawkins or somebody? He’s got a RUclips channel and makes bad arguments?
He seems like a smart guy. It's a shame he's subjugated his intellect to dogma and therefore will always be working backwards from his pre-existing religion-based conclusions, ie: the opposite of the scientific method.
Demonising Darwin's character in no way presents an objection to his ToE. So why do it ? Because the objectors have bugger all else that they can pick on. It seems to me that Darwin was actually a pretty decent human being, and was painstakingly thorough. It took the younger naturalist, Wallace, to persuade him to publish. Wallace had come to more or less the same conclusions as Darwin.

He seems a lot like one of these people who think, talk fast = smarter 11:56 also just doesnt understand thermodynamics This being my first time hearing of him, I'll assume this is in good faith, but to me it FEELS disingenuous. I apologize to him if Im incorrect
The theist argument against evolution is basically “that doesn’t sound realistic but magic does”
It contradicts my book, therefore is wrong.
Fr
They don’t like when you call it magic. I think magic is cool, though.
Facts
Two things that completely dismantle VOR’s position: He doesn’t know what defines an animal & he apparently hasn’t heard of natural selection.

At least one can seem to have a normal conversation with VOR, and he is so close to understanding his blind spots.
Remember when Jesus talked about gene code? Me neither.

I’m thinking of becoming a theist, but my insurance doesn’t cover a lobotomy.

Cannibalism is common among animals
@metal_pipe9764 mf, people used to make medicine out of mummies and put mummy dust in their foods. Humans are cannibalistic
@metal_pipe9764 so is the likes of infacide (lions)
Nothing these guys say is ever going to convince me a god exists let alone that a god "spoke" the universe into existence

VOR sounds like the Witsit of evolution. Talks fast and says lots of word salad
When does he talk fast?
When I hear word salad argument, I toss it.
This guy isn’t very smart. He talks a lot but nothing is emerging from that
I like the way that guy pronounced "echinda"
Daniel Dennett it’s not trying to “salvage” the theory of evolution from being overturned by the fact that random mutations occur. How can you get so much wrong so quickly?
It’s impossible to teach something to somebody whose salary (or salvation) depends on them not understanding it.
The moment a xian says "evolved from a LOWER form" you know this is pure xian narcissism.

VOR doesn't understand the second law of thermodynamics.
Steven Jay Gould did puncture equilibrium. He was so confident on that.
My equilibrium deflated..

Ah yes, Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Enchedna.
VOR is ignorant AF

A vorarephiliac
Bad people will try to apply science to do bad things? Well color me surprised!
Punctuated Equilibrium was actually described by Darwin in Origin of Species (not under that name). It was never a big thing. It is just a detail.
If humans aren't animals then what are humans doing right now in Eastern Europe, the middle East, the Chinese-Indian border, etc.

Hilarious when people are super picky about evidence when it concerns evolution but require zero evidence for their god beliefs.
Voice of Magic aka VOM 🤮
He sounds like he's dunking on 100 plus years old information, would actually like the YECs go after present evolutionary material!

I’d love to have the option to thumbs down the guest.
Vor is idiot that can't have an argument that is coherent, to the point or make sense, and you did not wipe the floor with him.
Didn't let him talk fast change subjects, finish incoherent sentences, stop him and finish each point into he admit defeate or win
I love how they do not even understand and can not pronounce the words they are reading at the beginning.
