I use the same. Much easier to lift and tote tank for refill than break camp and drove to refill or pay so much extra for delivery. Suggestions, net bag to store in during travel and habit of removing T adapter too. I forgot to do that before selling last motorhome and buyer got it. Live and learn. :)

Thanks for Watching. So I sold my tow dolly and forgot to take off the tpms sensors. The guy would not return them even though they were no good to him. Yup. Live and learn.

Teflon tape is really only good on interference fit pipe fittings. I doubt it does anything for you in this situation except allowing a little more torque on the tapered fitting.
I switched out to 40lb portable tanks so I can take the van into town to get more propane.

I agree. Normally I would never do that on a flare fitting however I think this one has been tweaked over the years and the only way I can get it to not leak is to apply the tape. At least it is an option and doesn't hurt anything. Thanks for watching.

@@TignerAdventures I often wonder how those connections stay true over many tightenings. I enjoy your videos! Thank you!

Interesting video Dave. We are back in La Paz after 5 days on a remote beach with no cell service. I have this Extend-a-Stay connector on my RV but didn't have the hoses. What a chore to find the correct fittings and adapters to make it all work... Nice to have the option to run off small tanks or to supply propane to external appliances from the large tank when you are more mobile. Should be back in Yuma in late March. Perhaps we will see you at Sundance...

We for sure need to have you guys over when you get back. Glad you are having fun. It is fun to watch your trip as you guys figure things out. Would love to do that sometime. How is the prices of gas down there? Here things are pretty much up $1 or close and rising. Our trip back east has gone up $1000 for gas alone. Hope it all calms down soon. The new addition is working very well. The option I like with this one is it came with the hoses. Made life easy. Thanks for watching, miss you guys.

@@TignerAdventures Gas and diesel prices are about 22 pesos/litre or $4 gallon. Been the same for the last month all through Mexico. Will let you know when we are a week out.

Now you just need a set of quick connects!

Interesting. I call this bypassing the permanent RV Tank and running your RV off a mobile LP Tank. Piping the LP right to the RVs manifold. Also allowing for connection to a grill outside. Help me here, I don't want to pay all that, do all that. I simply have as you did an empty RV tank that I need to get some gas into.
I simply want to take my 20lb or 30lb portable cylinder and connect a hose to it, then connect the other end to my RV's fill valve. Then open the valve on the smaller portable tank allowing for gas to flow into my RVs tank. How is this done? I'm doing just enough gas transfer to be able to test the RVs heater and fridge

Thanks for watching. I have never seen an adaptor that allows you to connect directly to the main tank fill valve. I have seen people take a 20lb tank and fill up little 1lb bottles but even that seemed a little unsafe for me. First, you would have to turn the 20lb tank upside down because you are passing liquid into the tank where it becomes vapor when you use it. If there is a valve for that it probably costs more than the valve I used here and anyone can set this up. I typically fill my main tank and then use the little tanks while the main tank stays full. I have never tried to fill the tank on the RV myself. I would discourage people from that. This method is recognized as being safe.

@@TignerAdventures This is what I'm wanting also. ADD propane INTO a mounted tank from a portable tank - why this is not readily available because it sounds much simplier / better than using / working from a temporary attached ( by hose ) portable tank ? Only makes sense !

Well it is working great. I like the idea I don't have to disconnect just to go get propane. Also in an emergency it is nice to already have a full tank in case you are ask to leave an area in a hurry. Of course if you run out then at least it is a great backup options. Win win all the way around. Thanks for watching.
