    *Awesome impact **MyBest.Tools** Takes tires off in a second. Plenty of power for what I’ve used it for - rotating tires. Using it on 3rd setting for removal and 2nd setting for tightening lugs.*

    Forget the haters - it's true this didn't really prove anything but these goofy things are fun to watch :-)
    I'm looking to get one of these 899's because I want to learn some more car maintenance so I'm going to tackle a bad water pump replacement on an old honda. Apparently those crank pulley bolts might come right off with a special tool and a couple breaker bars, or if you're unlucky you might spend 3 days throwing everything at it.
    I don't have a garage to work in so I can't afford to get stuck once I get started - hence looking to have the big guns ready from the start. Thanks for the demo.

    • @patdud1979
      @patdud1979  4 года назад

      Thx man I appreciate that 👍. And for your crank shaft I would try the impact first you might be surprised... and if that doesn’t work out then get the special socket that is just super heavy and increase the torque of the impact that combined with the 899 and you will be fine for any project 🤙

    the problem with ur test is ur literally clamping down on the bolt itself its kinda of skewing things, ill tell u from personal experience with both since both guns have been out, the 899 is n absolute beast itll snap bolts all day long, also the numbers arent technically speed settings, yes they affect that but the numbers refer to what torque level u want, 1 being snap any bolt, 3 being turn the world when u hit the trigger

    "I hope they're going to stabilize battery platform"... are you kidding right now? The 20v Max line came out in 2011... "keep changing". Except they did the 18v and then the 20v... that's the only relevant change for the video you're referencing. Both batteries are 100% interchangeable for the impacts you're using.

    • @jasonmorehouse3756
      @jasonmorehouse3756 6 лет назад +2

      The 18v and 20v are not 100% interchangeable. You need an adapter to use the 20v battery on the 18v tools

    • @petej536
      @petej536 4 года назад

      @@jasonmorehouse3756 There is some confusion over the battery formats here. The 'old' 18V system were Ni'CAD or NiHM cells, The stuff 'you' call 20V is still actually 18V but using Li-ion and rather than confuse people in USA Dewalt knowing people would by the new battery and then sue because it didn't fit they (and other brands) all though it better to call them 20V which is in reference to the Peak charged voltage rather than the nominal cell voltage, it also meant that they had an edge buy getting people to think it was better than 18v!. So all the dewalt 20v tools and batteries are the same as the 18v versions that use the Li-ion batteries as opposed to the older 18v range. You can in fact get converters that fit the older 18v tools and enable you to clip on the new 18v sorry 20v batteries. You Must not however try to charge the 20v batteries with the older 18v charger. cordlessdrillzone.com/drill-wars/20v-max-vs-18v-batteries-which-is-more-powerful/

      177bandit Sometimes you have to break it otherwise you need to use a torch or a cutting tool to remove the rusted bolt so in my opinion it’s a lot safer to break it then using a torch and heating up the metal.

    I see 3 flaws in your test. As mentioned earlier, use the same amp battery on both impacts. Place a higher amp battery in your car and see how much stronger your starter becomes. Use a different bolt everytime, each time you torque a bolt it stretches and weakens. Last but not least each test should be timed. That's the deciding factor if all else is equal. Good luck.

      Everett Tice thx I'll keep that in mind next time I make a video.

    • @EETechs
      @EETechs 7 лет назад +3

      That's only because of lower resistance with the bigger lead acid battery that keeps voltage closer to what is printed on the battery. You can use high discharge lithium batteries that are low amp hour rating btw, but still achieve the same thing...Done all the time in R/C cars where you want lightweight, but super high discharge capability. So not entirely accurate of what you say that bigger is better.

    The entire premise of your 'test' is fatally flawed, because you didn't set up (or bother to mention) the critical ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS that are in place to develop a clear and factual conclusion. You are comparing two different impact wrenches made by the same manufacturer, that have a 75% difference in performance. (400 ft/lbs. vs. 700 ft/lbs.) That is frankly...ridiculous. So what's the point of this video? That one impact wrench is more powerful than the other? Common sense would tell you the 899 would win the 'test' easily. Did you do any homework PRIOR to running this head-to-head comparison? I mean really simple things like...WHAT IS THE MANUFACTURER RATED SHEAR STRENGTH OF THE FRIGGIN BOLT YOU BOUGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE? 60,000 psi bolt tension? 70,000? 80,000? Videos like this can in some cases be both educational and entertaining at the same time...but this one was the rare exception that missed on both points. Note: Impact wrenches create tremendous HEAT when you engage the the fastener with a socket for an extended period of time (> 1 min) at high torque ratings which exceed 1000 blows per minute. That withering heat will tend to breakdown the tensile strength of the steel faster by 50% or more causing it to eventually yield to any twisting or hammering force being applied. If it fails to twist for whatever reason, it will eventually snap off the bolt head. So it just becomes a matter of time before the fastener fails (snaps), if enough heat can be generated in that short time frame. (when combined with a high BPM being applied by the impact wrench anvil) Progressively larger diameter bolts (of the same grade) will require more torque, and time, to achieve the same result.
