Joli, this was a great video! In my early years of being natural, I found a Natural Hair forum that talked about using apple cider vinegar to cleanse your hair. I was the one in the group that was allowing my hair to go gray in the form was for people who used henna and indigo. What I did not know is that apple cider vinegar helped with yellowing so that's great. Great video Joli

My white hair was about 26 inches long, wavy-kinky, and healthy. I hadn't dyed or permed it in over ten years. Once my new growth reached about 6 inches in length, however, it began yellowing, After trying every blue/purple shampoo out there, I searched YT videos for a solution. Many advised using 3 % hydro-peroxide for 30 seconds after shampooing and before conditioning. I did this once a month for about a year until the hair loss, breakage, and drying became too obvious to ignore. The worst outcome was that it didn't fully remove the yellow! Now my hair is about 22 inches long, thinner, drier, and streaked with a light yellow tinge down the length. I've decided to live with it as is, rather than damage it with bleach.

Hi Paulette, that is SO unfortunate and frustrating. My best advice at this point is start preventing yellowing as much as you can by first using a heat and UV protectant. The number one thing we are all exposed to is sun.
Then maybe add a shower filter if you have hard water and incorporate using a chelating shampoo into your routine. I have found my favorite Seen shampoo and deeper conditioner, the shampoo has chelating agents in it and I have found that shampoo has most drastically helped keep my hair from mineral build up.
I wish you the best of luck. 🌟💎 Shine On! 💎🌟

@QuickSilverHair I enjoy Seen products especially right now as they are so gentle and skin friendly. I normally use a good sulfate free etc. Conditioning hair wash not a shampoo. I've never had an issue with it. It made my switch from hair dye to my silver grey hair that was like a brillo pad. Nothing helped. Until I started using this line. But it's seems for now my hair likes seen. I still use some leave in on my mids to ends as I need hydration. Especially after the medicated shampoo. I know how very frustrating it is to not be able to remove yellowing, and I’m sorry you are experiencing the stubborn version.
Unfortunately, there are versions of yellowing that cannot be removed. UV damage and Heat damage are permanent. This is when I recommend using purple shampoo or conditioner to help tone down the yellowing.
If you have hard water, you need a chelating shampoo, and that can over time help stop the yellowing before it starts. Seen shampoo is my number one recommendation for this. seenhaircare.sjv.io/c/2700406/1020437/12994

    • @QuickSilverHair

    • @QuickSilverHair
      @QuickSilverHair  2 года назад +2

Hi Karen, thank you! Personally I feel like just embracing the cold turkey grow out is the fastest route to the end. If you keep processing it you risk damaging your hair and you still have to grow off that damage. If your hair is healthy highlighting might help you feel better during the transition but gray highlights are just toned bleached hair so when the toner wears off it is yellow underneath.

Seen Shampoo and Deep Conditioner are my top recommendation and their style creams both have UV and Heat protection so you start off on the right foot immediately to prevent permanent yellowing. The shampoo helps to prevent mineral buildup so it helps keep your hair from getting yellow from minerals. This combination of products will protect your silvers and keep your bleached hair healthier until it grows off. The magic Serum is wonderful for smoothing and adding shine.

Wow, I’m surprised you can use T-gel, that’s amazing, I have seen it stain white hair. I was unable to make a ready to use mask due to complications with stabilizing the final formula and issues with the manufacturer, wanting to charge me more to test an unstable formula, so it is off the table now. I strongly advise against this. Much of the food coloring in the United States is already contaminated with mold and bacteria before you even open it. You do not want to introduce this to your shampoo, conditioner, and especially not your scalp. There are plenty of very well formulated products that have the proper pigments added without introducing molds and bacteria to your scalp. Be safe.

From there I really cannot answer in a meaningful way for you, there are many factors that can cause this from your hair type to your lifestyle and the products you use. Some you may not even realize; for instance, sun damage can happen to everyone as it is a gradual and accumulative process.
The best thing, might be having a one-on-one consultation with me. I go through a long discovery interview with you from products, to lifestyle, to medications to help you pinpoint the cause.

I am saying chelating shampoo, it’s a specific type of shampoo that removes minerals. My top picks for chelating shampoo are Seen shampoo, you can use it everyday and prevent hard water buildup from ever happening or you can use The Ordinary Shampoo for clarifying routinely.

      Hello,
The best way for me to truly help is by doing a consultation with me. Because there are so many compounding issues involved with the yellowing on silver hair it is easiest if I go through my detailed questionnaire with you and try to find the answers and what could possibly be causing your issues. You can check out my consultations page to see what is involved in a consultation. I am currently on medical leave, but if you would like to book a consultation with me, you can email me and I’ll put you on my waitlist for when I’m available to take a consultations again.

@@lionettewashingtonel6010 it could be the higher porosity in your ends grabbing more impurities or having more severe oxidative stress. Usually, this means it is time for a trim.

That sounds about right, purple shampoo only covers up yellowing and does not remove it. I hope you have found some help on my channel and website.
