    To prevent my white hair yellowing I use the following…transparent or white Shampoo, white Conditioner, towel dry my hair white towel, very washed pillow cases or white, NEVER use hairsprays, Mousse , or Hair Straighteners, wash hairbrushes often. I found this summer that I need to buy a Sun hat to use always when I sit in the sun or swim in the sea. I share my account with my husband. Charo

    Joli, this was a great video! In my early years of being natural, I found a Natural Hair forum that talked about using apple cider vinegar to cleanse your hair. I was the one in the group that was allowing my hair to go gray in the form was for people who used henna and indigo. What I did not know is that apple cider vinegar helped with yellowing so that's great. Great video Joli

    I just love the color of your hair and wonder when do I use treatment on my hair. I have a 3" gray line with rest light brown hair dye. Should I be using a toner etc or wait until I see hairdresser in December? I'm thinking of gray highlighting my hair. Is this a good idea?

    • @QuickSilverHair
      @QuickSilverHair  Год назад +2

      Hi Karen, thank you! Personally I feel like just embracing the cold turkey grow out is the fastest route to the end. If you keep processing it you risk damaging your hair and you still have to grow off that damage. If your hair is healthy highlighting might help you feel better during the transition but gray highlights are just toned bleached hair so when the toner wears off it is yellow underneath.
      I did a video here sort of covering this: ruclips.net/video/p_Oo_z4EbcI/видео.html
      And I have a blog on what dye does to gray hair: quicksilverhair.com/what-hair-dyes-do-to-gray-hair-the-ultimate-guide/
      You can use blue shampoo to help tone the light brown down.

We are largely overlooked in hair studies. I’ve used T-Gel or store brand dandruff “coal tar” shampoo to clarify, it really strips my hair, then I condition and it’s super soft. Did you mask ever make it to production and sale? I recall you made a video mentioning the challenges of making it.

    • @QuickSilverHair
      @QuickSilverHair  4 месяца назад

      Wow, I’m surprised you can use T-gel, that’s amazing, I have seen it stain white hair. I was unable to make a ready to use mask due to complications with stabilizing the final formula and issues with the manufacturer, wanting to charge me more to test an unstable formula, so it is off the table now. I decided not to fix something that isn’t broken which is the product as it stands and people are still buying it and loving it.

    My white hair was about 26 inches long, wavy-kinky, and healthy. I hadn't dyed or permed it in over ten years. Once my new growth reached about 6 inches in length, however, it began yellowing, After trying every blue/purple shampoo out there, I searched YT videos for a solution. Many advised using 3 % hydro-peroxide for 30 seconds after shampooing and before conditioning. I did this once a month for about a year until the hair loss, breakage, and drying became too obvious to ignore.The worst outcome was that it didn't fully remove the yellow! Now my hair is about 22 inches long, thinner, drier, and streaked with a light yellow tinge down the length. I've decided to live with it as is, rather than damage it with bleach.

    • @QuickSilverHair
      @QuickSilverHair  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Paulette, that is SO unfortunate and frustrating. My best advice at this point is start preventing yellowing as much as you can by first using a heat and UV protectant. The number one thing we are all exposed to is sun.
      Then maybe add a shower filter if you have hard water and incorporate using a chelating shampoo into your routine. I have found my favorite Seen shampoo and deeper conditioner, the shampoo has chelating agents in it and I have found that shampoo has most drastically helped keep my hair from mineral build up.
      I wish you the best of luck. 🌟💎 Shine On! 💎🌟

      @user-ko4ch1cz7n 7 месяцев назад

      Thank you, Joli! I wear protective hats outdoors most of the time and rarely straighten my hair. I also use leave-in conditioners. However, I'll try a shower filter and get the chelating shampoo and conditioner asap! Again, thank you much. @@QuickSilverHair

      @@user-ko4ch1cz7n check your leave-ins for UV protection, that will help mitigate any UV damage just from daily exposure. Hopefully the filter and chelating shampoo will help. 💎🌟

      Seen Shampoo and Deep Conditioner are my top recommendation and their style creams both have UV and Heat protection so you start off on the right foot immediately to prevent permanent yellowing. The shampoo helps to prevent mineral buildup so it helps keep your hair from getting yellow from minerals. This combination of products will protect your silvers and keep your bleached hair healthier until it grows off. The magic Serum is wonderful for smoothing and adding shine.

    Can one try 3% regular hydrogen peroxide mixed with shampoo or conditioner only to remove yellowing due to a chemical relaxer?

    • @QuickSilverHair
      @QuickSilverHair  8 месяцев назад

      HI, it is unlikely that hydrogen peroxide will help with the discoloration from a chemical process. The chemical may have altered the hair permanently. You can always try, just be careful as you don't want to cause further yellowing or a pH imbalance..

    Great Information. I've been looking for a solution to my yellowing on my gray hair and I'm hoping this will help. Will definitely try it. I've tried the Cider Vinegar solution and it works on my hair but I have to do it once a week for 3 weeks . By the third week it's gone but my hair is very dry :((. I have very curly hair so most of the time I leave it curly, but I also love my hair straight and so I flatten it and so the yellowing starts again :((. It is a lot of work and sometimes it makes me want to just dye my hair. I signed up for the "Email and the Free Ebook" and will try your method and hoping that it will work. Thank you for so very much. Really appreciate you help us "Gray Hair Ladies". Love your hair.

    i have dark hair base color 1 shade lighter then bleach highlight after 2 weeks i thought purple shampoo is friendly enough but makes my bleach hair purple then I panicked search on internet on ways to removed it I used Vit C w/ dish soap but it ruined my highlight w/uneven yellow tone and it wears off the treatment on my hair. I regret using it. I had to go check my stylist after a month to fixed it☹ waste of time and money

    • @QuickSilverHair
      @QuickSilverHair  6 месяцев назад

      I’m sorry to hear that happened. If I could only say it loud enough for all the internet to hear using Vitamin C on your hair can have a disastrous outcome. I hope you get it sorted out. Maybe try using a purple conditioner instead, your bleached hair needs conditioning, it’s already dry and will grab the purple pigment to excess. Try By The Way’s Purple Conditioner, it is far more subtle but effective. 👉🏻 amzn.to/3RHgpsT

    I didn't try it, but I read that someone successfully used a blue food color to get rid of the yellow. Can't remember if she diluted it or used it straight.

    • @QuickSilverHair
      @QuickSilverHair  7 месяцев назад

      I strongly advise against this. Much of the food coloring in the United States is already contaminated with mold and bacteria before you even open it. You do not want to introduce this to your shampoo, conditioner, and especially not your scalp. There are plenty of very well formulated products that have the proper pigments added without introducing molds and bacteria to your scalp. Be safe.

      I know how very frustrating it is to not be able to remove yellowing, and I’m sorry you are experiencing the stubborn version.
      Unfortunately, there are versions of yellowing that cannot be removed. UV damage and Heat damage are permanent. This is when I recommend using purple shampoo or conditioner to help tone down the yellowing.
      If you have hard water, you need a chelating shampoo, and that can over time help stop the yellowing before it starts. Seen shampoo is my number one recommendation for this. seenhaircare.sjv.io/c/2700406/1020437/12994
