Wow, so sorry Andy and anyone watching for the amount of times I "Steamroller" the conversation in this video with my interruptions. Perhaps a mixture of genuine excitement about the product and also a Red Bull for lunch contributed to my over zealos "butting" in but that doesn't make in any more excusable. Sorry again and all credit to Andy for getting the key points across throughout with out stopping to give me slap!! Wishing everyone the best X
Hello from the Colonies, (Arkansas) Today I bought a RD-88 🎹and thanks to your video's, and a tax return helps some as well. You and the Video's helped make the decision easier. compatible🎹
Wait - can you monitor any vst's installed in Logic through the RD-88 speakers, whilst also layering Roland patches, whilst also sending all of that through the outputs?! If so, that's hella mega! 😮❤️ Also I'm a long time fan of these vids - they're super informative, have helped me make decisions, and I'm not in the least afraid to say I've deffo a hint of man crush on Jack and those fiiine piano skills ❤️🙌 hope you're all doing well in these times! Xx
Great Video! I actually tried blending my piano sound with mainstage but encountered a problem. When I tried to adjust the piano tone volume with the control knob, it is sending midi data and effecting the volume of my software synth. Is there a way to stop this?
No, no Jack, need no regrets. Stay as you are, stay physically related. The more connection the more chance to harmonise. Love your spontanity. Sure, Andy does.
Could you make a video of the best way to connect the RD-88 and the Mac? It's not in the list of Roland keyboards in Control Surface Setup in Logic. I'm using a midi connection through my Clarett 4pre thunderbolt interface and it's not being recognized. :(
Guys I played the rd88 at guitar center today. I'm in USA. I love the keyboard and action is finominal. I am disappointed with speakers as I want to maybe play nursing homes or jewelry stores around Christmas time and use the mic. I was messing around and hit the "key touch" button then I adjusted the "Velocity" from "Real" and incremented it up to 100 to 125. You literally get almost twice the volume out of those speakers its actually very loud but keys are very sensitive. But if you now lower the volume a bit it sounds pretty good with still more volume out of those speakers. My question " what the heck did I do?" It must set the key velocity like your slamming down on them when your really not. But is this a legit way to get more volume out of these speakers. Can you guys try this and let me know. I wonder also if this effects the mic volume as well I really want to get on of these puppies Thanks any advice appreciated. Thanks Mj.
putting this in for future readers as well: yes you can rolandus.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041680532-RD-88-Can-I-use-the-RD-88-as-a-master-keyboard-
There's a tons of useless sounds on that keyboard. Thousands of pads and synths. Less on piano No good upright piano and FM ep sounds.. I owned before an RD 800 , the only good on that piano is the portabilty and some piano sounds

Jack Duxbury "We were monitoring through the speaker in the keyboard..."
Yes. You can.

Thanks for this! Much appreciated.

I would love to apply this but I do not use Apple products. Let me know if there is an alternative to Apple's MainStage. Thanks.
Ableton live works with pc

Is the USB interface “class compliant” so my iPad can be connected and output through the RD88’s outputs?
Thanks ever so much in advance
Please, Is the RD88 acoustic piano SuperModuling an improvement or same as RD 2000 ?
When playing Mainstage presets, will the sound come out of the RD-88 speakers? Thanks
Also'd like to know that! Thanks
Is the rd88 audio interface class compliant with IOS as well?

What speakers they used? Is it the built-in or a different one?
We were monitoring through the speaker in the keyboard but you're hearing the recorded line out. Thanks for watching and commenting too X
Is there a PC equivalent to Apple Mainstage to which can be used with the Roland RD-88? We do not use Apple products at home.
No
rd88 and ipad with camera connection kit (usb midi)?
can you demo dual split Piano/LH bass with a Rhythm also please?
Is all the buttons are assignable for midi or only knobs in this roland RD88 .

This have 16 midi for vst on a scene?
what about gig performer?
nice piano but there’s no a gig bag for this with the right dimensions ( it’s a stage piano!)the accessories are out of date. (Roland website) 🤔
use the casio SC 800 case, fits perfectly
So I'm out of luck because I only have an iPad and not a MacBook Pro
Sunday sounds have a app dedicated to use with iPad
Why is there no Midi in ? USB is useless as you end up with a Ground loop.
Try a mug of Horlicks next time Jack - not a great image I know and the danger is you might go to sleep mid demo.😉
It's pretty bad that the development of this feature raised the price of the keyboard. A feature that we never gonna use :/

piano, el piano some nice rhodes and pads are good. i use it with keyscape, omnisphere and pianoteq, kontakt and other vsts for other sounds....
Mmmm too much learning curve. I am sure only 10% of users actually bother learning all that crap.
Aww
Please focus on corona...... We can do this shit after all this
Roland; thanks for the FU to Windows users :(
we cannot use a windows lap?
